Design of PET bottle recyclation device for creation of 3D printing filament
Huplík, Ondřej ; Kolomý, Štěpán (referee) ; Sedlák, Josef (advisor)
The rise in popularity of 3D printing and the increasing amount of plastic waste are putting an emphasis on finding new sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. This thesis addresses the issue of recycling plastic materials and how PET plastic can be used in 3D printing. The theoretical part describes the current possibilities of plastic recycling. The practical part focuses on the design of a device that accepts a PET bottle strip and converts it into filament by bringing it above the glass transition temperature. The device is designed with cost and compactness in mind. The device can be further improved and adapted for different types of plastic materials.
Li-ion battery recycling
Bělaška, Patrik Vojtěch ; Lisá, Hana (referee) ; Preisler, Lukáš (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis is focused on the recycling of li-ion batteries. In the first part primary and secondary battery cells are described together with their principle, composition, and materials. In the second part, lithium-ion cells, their principle, types of cathode and anode materials, electrolyte, separator, and casings are described in detail. The third part deals with battery pre-treatment and recycling technologies which include the most used hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy and less used direct recycling along with their individual types. The next part describes the mining options, the price of individual materials, largest producers, and weight comparisons before and after recycling of a selected battery. The last part focuses on the possibilities of battery recycling in the Czech Republic, the amount of waste batteries and current state of legislation.
Deposit refund system as a key tool for circular economy
Patka, Vojtěch ; Kropáč, Jiří (referee) ; Gregor, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with the issue of PET packaging, more precisely PET beverage bottles, and with a possible solution to this issue using Deposit Refund System, reffered to as „DRS“. When comparing the current situation of PET beverage bottle management with the set targets and legislation of the EU and the Czech Republic, it can be concluded that it is necessary to adjust the approach to this part of waste management. The modern approach is the approach of so called circular economy, which considers waste as a potential source of material for re-production. DRS is a tool of circular economy which indicates high collection rate of PET beverage bottles in EU, i.e. the proportion of bottles returned and bottles placed on the market. However, DRS is only part of the overall PET beverage bottle management system which requires an efficient processing chain to function properly. The chain is described in detail from returning the used bottle to the production of a new one. A significant benefit in this chapter is the information obtained in interviews with experts from practice and during visits to production lines for PET preforms and PET bottles. The thesis is concluded with a SWOT analysis of DRS in the Czech Republic where the deposit system is likely to be introduced at the beginning of 2026 and its introduction is currently being widely discussed.
Recycling
Mrázek, Mikuláš ; Morys, Oldřich (referee) ; Korbička, Pavel (advisor)
The intention of the bachelor thesis is mainly to highlight the surplus of materials and the overwhelming of the planet with waste, the possibilities of recycling solid materials such as metal and remelting them into other objects. Working not only with the material but also with the people inside the scrap metal is essential. Creating a social contact with the workers and working together to transform the waste into sculptural works and create a video is essential for the bachelor thesis.
Battery waste recycling
Song, Jiyul ; Brummer, Vladimír (referee) ; Jecha, David (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis focuses on methods for recycling batteries and rechargeable batteries. The thesis aimed to describe the possibilities for recycling battery waste and to conduct an experimental study on the drying of battery waste. The research included a review of the history, principles, and classification of batteries and accumulators, which are described in the theoretical section. Additionally, the thesis examined EU and Czech Republic legislation regarding electronic waste recycling. Finally, a practical experiment was conducted, focus-ing on the drying process of battery waste.
Football Recycling
Vlček, Filip ; Jemelka, Vojtěch (referee) ; Sedlák, Jaroslav (advisor)
The former Brno stadium Za Lužánkami, located on the border of the Botanical Garden of MENDEL, the wild hillside Planýrka and Lužánky Park. Thanks to the clay mass of the stands and the fact that the last official match was played at the stadium in 2001, nature is beginning to take over. It is therefore possible to leave the stadium to continue to create specific conditions for different plant species, but at the same time to use the potential of the standing reinforced concrete structure in its southern part and hand it over to the student association? Finding a suitable solution for this situation and avoiding the gentrification of other urban spaces was my goal in of this thesis.
Possibilities of using the secondary product from the production of titanium white as a setting retarder in Portland cements
Smirnov, Pavel ; Švec, Jiří (referee) ; Opravil, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis is concerned with finding the possibilities of processing and application of the secondary product from the production of titanium white. The raw product, commercially known as Prestab, is currently being landfilled due to its properties, chemical composition and high moisture content. Previous research has shown that the material could have potential for use in the construction industry. The effectiveness of the work is also supported by the trends of today, where environmental requirements are becoming more stringent and more costly to implement. The use of secondary raw materials avoids the production of additional CO2 and also reduces the environmental burden. The secondary product, which is chemically a polluted chemosulfur, is investigated in this work as a setting regulator for blended Portland cements. In solving the problem, a suitable laboratory processing method for Prestab was found and subsequently a blend formulation for the preparation of admixture in Portland cements was also proposed. Three cement samples were prepared using the obtained admixtures. The samples were subsequently tested for their properties according to ČSN EN 196 and the results were compared with the CEM II class cement already in use in practice.
Grape vine
Lubovská, Karolína ; Písaříková, Jana (referee) ; Korbička, Pavel (advisor)
The work Grape Vine explores the theme of the South Moravian wine landscape and the elements that are associated with it and most characteristic of it. The work highlights the practices by which this landscape is altered and cultivated for human use, in this case for the cultivation of grapes and the wine production. It focuses on the approach to the landscape and the specific ways in which different parts of it are approached through cultivation, selection and growth control in order to achieve the highest yields using the practices determined by the tradition of agriculture in this specific area.
Methods of energy treatment of municipal waste
Štork, Martin ; Köbölová, Klaudia (referee) ; Linda, Jakub (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of how to deal with waste in order to obtain as much energy as possible from it. That's why we are dealing with restrictions on landfilling. In the theoretical part of the thesis, we will find the types of waste and their characteristics, as well as the ways in which waste can be worked. In the practical part of the thesis, I try to show how waste could be worked in the future, ideally for a large yield of energy and with minimal air pollution during waste processing. This results in a complete restriction of landfilling.
Optimization of the Reverse Waste Logistics System in the Selected Enterprise
Davydova, Anna ; Valenta, Tomáš (referee) ; Milichovský, František (advisor)
The bachelor thesis focuses on the research of reverse logistics of waste in the banking company Raiffeisenbank a. s. The thesis consists of three parts. The first part covers theoretical background on the basis of which in the second part, the research is carried out using the analysis of the internal and external environment. The third part contains proposals for improving the waste recycling system at the Raiffeisenbank branch in Olympia and an evaluation of achieved results.
