Evaluation of properties of asphalt mixture with additive based on mixture of recycled plastics
Machová, Sára ; Hegr, Zdeněk (referee) ; Dašek, Ondřej (advisor)
Bachelor’s thesis deals with the evaluation of properties of asphalt mixture with additive based on a mixture of recycled plastics. The first part of this thesis introduces the modification of asphalt mixtures and asphalt binders. The additives are made of recycled materials. The test methods are described in the second part of this thesis and the last part contains the test results of needle penetration, softening point, DSR, MSCR, wheel tracking, and uniaxial tension test.
Performance tests of the recycled aggregates to roads
Karásková, Romana ; Valentin,, Jan (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
The work is divided into two parts. The practical part deals with the testing properties of soils which are using in new road in Nové Město na Moravě and the testing of recycled materials which could replace this soils from road. The aim this part is to obtain values of elastic modulus which are then inserted into the computational model. In the second part of work the track road is modeled in the software which uses the Finite Element Method to calculate and respect physical properties of different materials and a load. The result of work will be studies with comparison of displacement and stress generated to using existing soils and recycled materials.
Development of polymer repairing material
Juřička, Viktor ; Seidlová, Michaela (referee) ; Drochytka, Rostislav (advisor)
Rehabilitation of concrete constructions is important and constantly evolving industry, where development of new, advanced materials contribute to increasing the quailty and effectivness of the remedation process. This work is focused on the development of repairing polymeric material that is able to withstand the conditions of the energy industry and other industrial operations, while effectively utilizing recycled materials. The thesis contains a detailed overview of legislative tests of individual properties and is proposing recipes of appropriate repairing polymeric materials, including a proposal for its application and the pretreatment of input materials.
The frost susceptibility of the recycled materials to subgrade of the pavement
Nehybová, Eva ; Mondschein,, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
In the theoretical part of the thesis, different methods of testing frost susceptibility in the Czech Republic and other countries of the European Union are compared. The practical part of the thesis deals with laboratory testing of frost susceptibility of concrete and mixed recycled materials using the direct method of frost heave tests as well as determining the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) and design module of elasticity using the cyclic triaxial test. Suitability of materials for construction of road infrastructure is then assessed on the basis of the results of these tests.
Full-Scale Pavement Model for Testing of Non-Rigid Pavement Structures Not Only from Recycled Materials
Spies, Karel
The utilisation of recycled materials in pavement construction layers is slowly becoming a major issue in road construction. However, the testing and use of these materials in pavement structures may be different from pavements made of new materials. Therefore, this paper discusses the issue of using recycled materials, especially reclaimed asphalt, in pavement structures. In the main part, the paper focuses on testing the entire road structure using a Full-Scale model. The next part explains the reasons for implementing this model in pavement testing and summarizes the selected foreign literature on the subject. The paper then concludes with possible future methods that could be used to improve the obtained measurement results and to bring the model closer to the actual conditions.

Preparation of Magnesium Silicide from Recycled Materials for Energy Storage.
Bumba, Jakub ; Dytrych, Pavel ; Šolcová, Olga ; Koštejn, Martin ; Fajgar, Radek ; Maléterová, Ywetta ; Kaštánek, František
Recycling technologies help to save energy, materials and environment. This is the main reason of their popularity. The recovery of semiconductors and metals depends on recycling treatment. A new multi-step technology, which enables to obtain pure silicon and hydrogen from waste materials,is reported in this study. The only by-product is magnesium phosphate, which is a desired fertilizer. Magnesium silicide was successfully prepared from milled silicon photovoltaic (PV) panels and milled Mg obtained from the scrap. The formed magnesium silicide was then hydrolysed by phosphoric acid to form a mixture of silanes. Gaseous products (silanes) were separated by cooling below their boiling temperature by liquid nitrogen and then thermally decomposed by a hot wire, e.g. Pt.This treatment leads to pure silicon and hydrogen release. In this study a deep-in characterization by various methods spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) with Energy Dispersive X- Ray spectroscopy (EDX), etc.) of prepared samples was also done to explain the individual influences, e.g. reaction temperature and atmosphere.
