The Strakonice league. Rivals of George of Poděbrady in the struggle over power in the Kingdom of Bohemia (1449 - 1452)

This thesis concerns the Strakonice league, an association of largely Catholic estates of 1449. It tries to conceive the topic in another way, than the older literature did, which did not pay attention to the Strakonice league not specially, but dealed with it mostly in the frame of the description of Bohemian political and military history. The thesis tries to bring new pieces of knowledge of the Strakonice league by means of analyse of correspondence of the lords of Rosenberg (Rožmberk) and of another sources. Concerning the course of the military and diplomatic struggle with the Poděbrady league itself, the emphasis is put on selected, less known aspects. League's attempts to cooperate with the lands adjoining the Czech crown are included, too. The relation of the Strakonice league to foreign countries, where the league was looking for allies, is elaborated in the next section. The last part of the thesis is a prosopographical research of the league members. This section is based on collecting of data about individual persons or towns that entered the Strakonice league. The members' political career, motivation for their entrance into the league, possesion and their relations to each other are studied. Students and graduates at Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in the First Half of the Twentieth Century: Social Structure, Curriculum, Student Life, and Professional Careers Tereza Kopecká Institute for History of Medicine and Foreign Languages, First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University The topic of medical studies in the first half of the twentieth century offers an interesting insight into the community of first-republic youth, developing modern medicine and universities. A prosopographical study brings the possibility to perceive the topic from multiple points of view: demographical, social, political, in terms of gender etc. The students who act as the subject of this study, have lived through a major part of the twentieth century; their common forming experience was the World War One but later, they differentiated enough to let us look inside the world of science, hospital and community medicine, underground movements, active politics and even art. Their medical carrers were influenced by the changes in organization of the public health care system that led to the loss of professional freedom. These difficulties could have been overcome by the social capital they had created yet during the school years. The creditors of the last members of the Rožmberk house

The thesis Věřitelé posledních Rožmberků (The creditors of the last members of the Rožmberk house) engages in creditors of Vilém of Rožmberk in the years 1589 1592, especially in the creditors whose claims his brother Petr Vok of Rožmberk took on after the death of Vilém of Rožmberk in 1592. The thesis based on from the list of the rožmberks debts that preserved in the State Regional Archives in Třeboň. The thesis attemptes achieve "the collective biography" of these creditors with the use of prosopographic method and find the commons signs that connected these creditors.

The Historical topography of Kostelec nad Černými lesy town

English abstract The aim of my thesis is to use usual methodologies and above all finding new ways of historical urban topography, applied to a representative of a small town, which since the 16th century has evolved from agrarian center seat for a wide area - Kostelec nad Černými lesy. Kostelec is one of the smaller Czech towns located in the district Prague-East and currently has about 3,500 inhabitants. In particular, there exists relatively rich and complex source material preserved from the 16th century (primary a series of cadastral and urban books and an extensive aristocratic-domain archive). 1. Topics of historic urban topography: A) Problems associated with urban planning or development of the oldest cities in the absence of the written sources 1. Evaluation of the position of town/city. 2. Before-location situation. 3.
