Program Five P - Retrospective View of Volunteers
HUNGEROVÁ, Vendula
The bachelor thesis is composed of two parts theoretical and practical. The theoretical part defines terms like mentoring, volunteering or the Five P program. Individual chapters are devoted to development of volunteering and mentoring in the world, expecially the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and its implementation in the Czech Republic, under the name Five P program. This part is further focused on the characteristics of the Five P program, its aims, principles and its development in the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to find out how the volunteers perceive the Five P program after the end of their activity in it. The practical part attempts to capture the influence of participation in program on the private life and profession of volunteers. Attention is also paid to the overall evaluation of the program by given volunteers, to the perception of its positives and possible negatives. Another aim is to detect the overall enrichment of volunteers given by Five P program. A qualitative data acquisition approach is used to meet the research goals, specifically semi-structured interview method. The research sample consists of 10 communication partners whose answers are processed by the open encoding method. The results are sorted into tables. Each table is matched by comments summarizing the response results. Of these ten communication partners, I then selected three communication partners for the next research method - in-depth interviews. From these interviews I chose the common themes that appeared in each interview. In the discussion of this thesis deals the research questions in the context of the results of the research are evaluated in more detail. Conclusion points out how this bachelor thesis could help Five P Association in the Czech Republic, mentors or future volunteers.

Profile of a volunteer of the program Five P
UVÍROVÁ, Kateřina
The Bachelor thesis consists of two parts theoretical and practical one. In the first part I defined the terms volunteering, volunteer, monitoring, and programme Five P. The empirical part is focused on the world-wide programme Big Brothers, Big Sisters, on its evolution, history and last but not least on its realization in the Czech Republic named "Five P". The main aim of the thesis it to evaluate a profile of a volunteer of the programme "Five P". The characteristic of a profile includes age of volunteers, gender, childhood, study field, interests, hobbies, family, personal and current life and last but not least the link between him / her and the programme "Five P". In other words, the goal of the thesis is to create a detailed profile of the people who are likely to become volunteers of this programme. In the empirical part the quantitative research was carried out. The method of questioning was used, in detail a questionnaire technique. The questionnaire consisted of 21 questions 12 close-ended questions, 4 open-ended questions and 4 semi-opened questions. The questionnaire could be divided into 4 parts childhood, identification questions, current personal situation and links with the programme "Five P". In the next part the results of the research are examined. The results were evaluated by descriptive statistics, graphs were employed. Not only the expecting assumptions have been fulfilled, moreover some outcomes are very interesting and unexpected. For example the interesting finding is that 32 interviewees out of 100 work full time. The second interesting finding was an answer to a question "Do you want to have your own children?" Two respondents replied "no" and seven respondents replied "maybe". The reason why this answer is interesting is the fact that the programme "Five P" is focused on children. The following part called "Discussion" deals with the detailed evaluation of the research questions. The final part provides suggestions how the ""Association Five P in the Czech Republic" could make use of the research I have carried out.
The implementation of program Pět P in orphanages in the district of Budweis
PROKOPOVÁ, Eliška
The thesis consists of two parts; the theoretical and the practical. In the theoretical part, I defined the concept of volunteering and volunteer, basic psychological needs of a child, resilience and positive youth development, mentoring. The largest part is devoted to the Pět P Program concept, where I characterized this program, focused on the history, objectives, principles and benefits and not least, the organizational structure. Then I focused on institutional care, children's homes generally and in the last chapter, I describe children's homes in the area of Czech Budweiser. The aim of this work was to determine the possibility of implementing the Pět P Program to children´s homes in the area of České Budějovice. There were two sub-questions dealt with, namely: 1) Are the employees of the DDs in the area informed about the Pět P Program program? 2) Do the children home´s client have interest in participation in the Pět P Program? In the practical part; a qualitative research strategy, questioning method, technique semi-controlled interview with open questions were chosen. The research was conducted during the months of March and April of 2013 the interviews were held in the offices of the children home´s and in public areas. The research is divided into two parts. The first part of the research is focused on interviews with five employees of the children home´s. In the second part of the research I focus on the 10 clients of children home´s. Due to the different type children's homes in the České Budějovice area and due the composition of their clients, the research was further divided into individual children home´s. In the children's home with a school, based Šindlovy Dvory, I organized an interview with two employees and five children. In the children's home in Boršov nad Vltavou I interviewed three employees and five children. A pilot study had been conducted before I visited the in the work mentioned children´s houses in the Ceske Budejovice area. The research questions showed that awareness of the Pět P Program is high, all the interviewed employees knew the Pět P Program and regarded it as beneficial. The research has shown that clients orphanages are interested in participating in the ?Pět P? Program. The research also shows that at the moment, there are no suitable conditions for the implementation of the Pět P Program to childern´s houses in the České Budějovice area. For the implementation several preconditions are needed; e.g. further cooperation, clarification of the conditions and the willingness of staff and management of children's homes to work with the program coordinator of the Pět P Program. This work will be provided to both the Pět P Program, as well as the children homes in the České Budějovice area. The theoretical part, where I describe the Pět P Program, could also be beneficial for the children´s houses. The useful contacts regarding the Five P program are in the annex 5. I'd be happy if my work has contributed to the general awareness about volunteering and about the Pět P Program and led to its expansion. The expected benefit to practice is an extension the Pět P Program to childern´s houses in the České Budějovice area.
Effectivity evaluation of social-preventive program 5P in the Czech republic and its development
BŘÍZOVÁ, Bohdana
The theoretical outcomes of the mentoring program BBBS and subsequently also the solutions of the program 5 P in the Czech Republic are introduced in the theoretical part of the dissertation work. Furthermore the author summarizes the principles of the program and explains the management of the work with the volunteers. She also focuses on the relationship between a child and a volunteer, its typology and its development. The last but not the least the author addresses the evaluation method for BBBS/5 P which is called the Program Based Outcome Evaluation (POE). Furthermore the author fulfills the four selected goals in the research part of the work. The first goal is focused on the modification of the original evaluation method POE and its adaptation for the Czech socio-cultural circumstances. The second goal is the analyses of the current state of the realization of the program 5 P in the Czech Republic with the focus on the registration of the program as the social service. The third very important goal is to evaluate the general trends of the effectiveness of the program by the means of the statistical analysis of the results of the evaluation method POE. The last goal is the development of the new or the adaptation of the current specialized and methodological materials for 5 P.
The evolution of the relationship between child and volunteer in Program Five P
NOHEJLOVÁ, Pavla
The issue of the child {--} volunteer relation development in the Five Ps Programme is a really sensitive one. No research dealing with the child {--} volunteer relation development has been performed yet in the Czech Republic. The child {--} volunteer relation development research is based on mapping changes within the eight dimensions of a relation as per Hinde´s theory (1988). The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the Five Ps programme itself, its brief history, handicaps and benefits. The theoretical part also deals with relations in general and the relation child {--} volunteer in the Five P programme and its development. The thesis is aimed at mapping the child {--} volunteer relation development in the Five Ps programme upon changes in the above eight relation dimensions. The practical part employed the questioning method, the technique of structured interview with open questions, the method of participant observation and document analyses. The research sample consisted of 15 respondents (5 volunteers, 5 children, 5 legitimate representatives of the children). The survey was performed at the regional Five P Programme Centre in Písek. The results of the work consist of analyses of interview with the volunteers, children and legitimate representatives after three months and after ten months of a relation, then observation of each couple during common activities, analyses of supervision records and meeting minutes. Two hypotheses arose from the results. The first is: The child {--} volunteer relation in the Five P programme develops in eight dimensions as per Hinde´s theory (1988). The other hypothesis is: Each child {--} volunteer relation in the Five Ps programme develops differently. The thesis also includes practical recommendations, particularly to beginning Five Ps coordinators. These recommendations present examples of questions by which changes in the individual relationship dimensions may be monitored and the relationship development better observed. The thesis may be useful either for beginning coordinators in the Five Ps programme or for those having longer experience in coordinating the couples in the programme.
