"What impact did the communist ideology have on education at the primary school in Sepekov (1948-1989)?"

This diploma thesis captures the development and changes of the primary school in the village of Sepekov in the period 1948-1989, when Czechoslovak education was under the influence of communist ideology. It describes changes in the school system of a national character and their specific impact on the functioning of the local school. The first chapter briefly deals with education until 1948. The other four chapters are divided according to the legislative changes in education during communism. This creates a comprehensive picture of the described period.
The Image of Czechoslovakia in Contemporary English-Language Historiography

This study analyzes the treatment of Czechoslovak history by historians writing in English during the past two decades, with the emphasis on political history as an axis of contemporary history. The author describes historians' approaches to major 20th-century events in Czechoslovakia, evaluating and summarizing their findings. The second part of the study focuses on Czech historiography of contemporary Czechoslovak history and its reception by the international historiographic community. The author emphasizes the need for mutual cooperation regardless of language barriers.
The Political Career of the Duke of Wellington after 1815

The main purpose of this thesis is to present the biography of Arthur Wellesley, the first duke of Wellington (1769-1852) with the connection to his political career in the top political offices primarily in the years 1815-1832. With the respect to the way how Wellington concerned to his political negotiations, this thesis also try to look at the duke's childhood and adolescence. Based on the chronological order the large area of the thesis especially attends to the British facts, which comes close to us through the Wellington's political activity. This work deals with the key political issues incidental to the duke's career, e.g. Bill of Pains and Penalties, Catholic Emancipation, or Parliamentary Reform. We can come to the conclusion that his key political attitudes which had a great impact on his decisions were "the service to the state and the King", "non-party feeling in political debates", and "the demand of a discipline", not only for himself, but for his colleagues and subordinates too. The Genealogy of the Plzeň Revolt on June 1, 1953: An Analysis of Public Collective Protests of the Plzeň City Population in the Years 1948-1953

The presented dissertation thesis analyzes one of the largest protests of the Czechoslovak Stalinism-era - the Plze revolt against the currency reform in June 1953. From a conceptual perspective, the work draws on the theory of the so-called new social movements. Therefore it sets the well-known Plze incident into the context of previous protest actions that occurred in the Plze region in the course of the years 1948-1953. This method enables the author to chart the development of several varied protest cultures which had been employed in particular parts of society in Western Bohemia on a long term basis and which inspired the inception and the course of the Plze revolt in the year 1953. This way the work offers not only a considerably more precise critical description of the June protests but also their cultural genealogy. By the means of this genealogy the author reveals the structure of the main social movements that took part in the revolt and an associated complex of social conflicts that caused the protests. There were in particular the following three: a socially-motivated strike movement of industrial blue-collars, a pro-western movement of both student and blue-collar youth and a latent tension within the communist party which was becoming evident through a passive resistance of its rank...

Práce se zabývá rozpadem Sovětského svazu. Rozebírá politické a hospodářské dějiny SSSR od konce padesátých let až do samotného rozpadu bloku v roce 1991. Dále zobrazuje mocenskopolitický boj mezi hlavními představiteli SSSR v této době. Cílem je nalezení příčin rozpadu a zobrazení hospodářských a politických procesů, které v této době probíhaly a které ke kolapsu vedly.
