Fitness training for individuals after spinal lesion

Title: Fitness training for individuals after spinal lesion Objectives: The aim of the bachelor thesis is to monitor the influence of physical intervention in the form of fitness training on body composition and movement performance of individuals after spinal lesion. Methods: In the framework of a quantitative and qualitative research study, four subjects after the spinal lesion who are participating in the reconditioning stay at the Paraple Center were observed in case studies. Among the selected subjects were three males and one female, three of them with paraplegia and one with tetraplegia in the range C 6 - Th 6. The average subject age was 41.5 years (24 - 74). Except for one individual, all showed moderate overweight and decreased exercise activity in everyday life outside the research. Research methodology consisted of one month intervention in the form of individually adjusted fitness training. In order to set up the intervention and to evaluate the effect, the following methods were used for input and output testing: observation, assessment of body composition using the Bodystat instrument and evaluation of exercise performance by measurements on a rowing and cross- country trainer where the mileage was monitored. The incidence and context of alcohol use of persons after spinal cord injury

The topic of this thesis is use of alcohol in people after spinal cord injury, who form a specific group of people with disabilities. Objectives of the research work The objective of this thesis is to describe the incidence and rate of alcohol use in people after spinal cord injury and find any specifics of alcohol use for this target group. As well as describe motives and reasons for alcohol use, specifics of individual diagnoses, find and define health problems related to alcohol use in people after spinal cord injury. Last but not least, find out whether in this specific group individuals with symptoms of harmful alcohol use (alcohol abuse) or addiction to alcohol appear. Sample file Participants of research (sample file) in this thesis are people after spinal cord injury who are members of the civic association CZEPA. The main objective of this association is to defend the rights and interests of people after spinal cord injury and strives for their full integration into society. Title: Sexual satisfaction in people with spinal cord injuries engaged in regular physical activity. Objectives: The main goal of this work is to determine the level of sexual satisfaction in people with spinal cord injuries, who perform regular physical activity. Methods: A battery of questions was used to find out the satisfaction of people with spinal cord injuries, who regularly perform physical activity. The WHOQOL 100, PASID, LATA, SAS SAQ questionnaires were used as basic for creating battery of questions. Data collection was completely anonymous and took place online. The survey involved 21 respondents with spinal cord injuries (18 men and 3 women) aged 18 to 75 years. All were included in the research because they met the criteria for performing regular physical activity. The results of the survey were processed into graphs and tables and supplemented by a written commentary. Results: It was found that for a majority of respondents their sexual life is important and for most of them the sexual life is a source of pleasure. Almost half of the respondents consider their sexual life satisfactory. However , less than half of the respondents state that not all their needs are met. of the Thesis: Bachelor thesis addresses the practice of alternative use control of computer for people after damage in C5 spinal area. The aim is to provide an ergotherapeutic perspective on the use of alternative MyVoice and MyDictate programs in terms of work efficiency and job ergonomics. The theoretical part deals with the issue of spinal lesions and provides information about the client's clinical picture with lesions in the C5 segment and the functional impact of the diagnosis on everyday life. Furthermore, the work focuses on the issue of employment of a person with disability in the Czech Republic. Thesis provides the possibility of occupational therapy intervention for clients after damage of spinal cord in the C5 area with respect to the ergonomics of work place. It describes the basic criteria that are discussed in this area. The conclusion of the theoretical part presents possibilities of alternative computer control for people with motor deficiency. Title: Functional Hand and Wrist Examination of Spinal Cord Injury People with Tetraplegia Abstract: This work deals with the functional hand and wrist examination of spinal cord injury people with tetraplegia. The examination focuses mainly on the areas of evaluation that are important for the occupational therapist. The theoretical part summarizes the basic knowledge of spinal lesion and spinal problems. Furthermore, a description of hand and wrist and their anatomy and function is provided in this part. Last but not least, the theoretical part mentions the importance of evaluation in occupational therapy and individual functional tests that examine the hand and wrist in persons after spinal cord injury. Activization of the paraplegick and kvadruplegick patient

The activation of a paraplegic, quadruplegic patient is an in important part of the nursing care for the patient handicapped in this way. By a good and timely activation we achieve a better co-operation of the patient during the rehabilitation, practicing self-sufficiency; the patient communicates better with us and he co-operates. The activation is manifold; as for the hospital activation, the most known elements are books, television, radio, talks, co-operation with the family, internet. Other possibilities of activation are spinal units, rehabilitation center and e.g. the ambulant Paraple center providing the services in the following aid to the handicapped patients.
