Pyrrho's, academic and methodical skepticism - comparison
Brabníková, Petra ; Blažková, Miloslava (advisor) ; Rybák, David (referee)
The main objective of my dissertation is to research and to introduce hellenistic skepticism of postclassical Greece and methodical skepticism of modern times thinker Rene Descartes. There are differences between the ancient Pyrrhonism and the younger skepticism of Academy, which I would like to clear up. I have in view Descartes' skepticism too, which create a methodological technique of cognition in new way. Rene Descartes, contrary to hellenistic skeptics, doesn't accept the "epoche", which means a certain bliss, but he moves on in his research, when he believes in a possibility of truthful cognition. Purpose of my thesis is to critically take account of historical and philosophical context, from which both of skepticisms have been created, to put a question, what kind of meaning they had in history of philosophy and also to think about fundamental question of connection between hellenistic and Descartes doubt. I try to accent common characteristics and differences of both concepts. key words - skepticism, methodical skepticism, truthful cognition, probability, phenomena, senses, intellect, bliss
Comparison of original sound and Czech dubbing in Friends TV series
Votlučková, Kristýna ; Křemen, Pavel (advisor) ; Lebedová, Veronika (referee)
The bachelor's thesis Comparison of the original sound and Czech dubbing in the TV series Friends deals with the analysis of differences in the original sound and in the dubbing of the American TV series Friends. The Friends series is an American sitcom that aired on NBC from September 22, 1994 to May 6, 2004. The series focuses on the lives of six friends between the ages of 20 and 30 who live in Manhattan, New York City. During the ten years of broadcasting, the show received many awards and became one of the most popular television shows in history. The series has thus become a phenomenon that still affects and entertains viewers around the world. In the Czech Republic, a dubbed version of the TV show began broadcasting on Ceska televize in 1996. The Czech dubbing of the series was directed by Ales Sobotka, led by the creative group of Alena Polednakova and Vladimir Tisnovsky. There are many arguments for and against dubbing or subtitling TV shows. What determines dubbing or subtitling, as the main method of television translation in a country, is influenced by a complex number of factors, such as price, availability of relevant technology, literacy level etc. The overall meaning and context may therefore be quite different from the original version if the translation is dubbed or subtitled. Epoché and the Ten Modes of Scepticism
Křibská, Jana ; Thein, Karel (advisor) ; Špinka, Štěpán (referee)
The objective of this thesis is to outline Pyrrhonian Scepticism, its development and main representatives. In accordance with primary sources, I try to analyze the Modes of Scepticism, point out its similarities and dissimilarities and if appropriate, its validity. In the next part, two different interpretations of Scepticism are introduced, ethical and epistemological. Within the frame of those, I try to reason if and how epochē leads to ataraxia. Within the scope of presented interpretations, I conclude, that in the frame of epistemological interpretation, ataraxia follows epochē, not in terms of causality, but as a recollective sign. In accordance with ethical interpretation, I try to question whether the Sceptic is able to reach happiness and if, how it would be manifested in his everyday life. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
