The problem of (non)health and social sector cooperation in caring for the elderly at home

The thesis deals with the issue of cooperation between the health care and social care sectors in the framework of care for the elderly in the home environment. It focuses more closely on the case of the city of Prague. The aim of the thesis is to examine the current state of cooperation of the health care and social care sector in the city of Prague in the field of care for the elderly and to identify the impact of government decisions as well as decisions of individual city districts of Prague on the work of field workers. Attention is paid to the needs of field workers and to specific barriers that they have themselves identified and which, according to the workers, make it impossible to set up a functional cooperation system. On the basis of an analysis of national level documents, documents issued by the capital city of Prague or specific districts, good practice from European Union countries (namely Sweden, the Netherlands and Belgium) a set appropriate ways of dealing with the issue has been proposed.
The decision - making of families caring for a senior member focusing on the services provided

The bachelor's thesis deals with the decision-making of families caring for a family member in a senior age focused on the services provided. In my work, I have centred my attention to the problem of demographic aging and the problems of seniors, which are the most common today. Today's demographic trends raise the need to redefine old age and professional care for the elderly. I also analyzed the possibilities of professional help that a senior and his loved ones can use in difficult situations related to the old age. One of the goals of my work is to define demographic aging and estimate its growth in the future. I also analyzed the best forms of social care for the elderly and their possible pitfalls. I have been interested in current statistics on the demand for these services and the extent to which demand is being met. Above all, I have tried to find the best options for families who cannot take care of their senior relative effectively enough and options that would best suit seniors who refuse to move into a nursing home. Motivation of employees and volunteers

This diploma thesis is dealing with motivations of employees and volunteers to work in organization of civil society. The aim of the thesis was to compare motivations of employees and volunteers working in the particular organization of civil society and to find out if and eventually how, the volunteer and employee management's styles vary. The theoretical part focuses on the main theories of motivation and motivation strategies. The research was a case study of the civil society organization, which specify on the care of seniors. The thesis may be used by the organization for a feedback and it may bring some advices regarding workers motivations. Old age as a final stage of human life

This diploma thesis is theoretical and is dedicated to old age and ageing. The aim of this diploma thesis is to summarize existing knowledge of old age and to view this final stage of human life from different perspectives and in various context. It is based on periodization of human life. It deals with the process of ageing and its progress, it lists definitions and theories on ageing and also discusses possible premises of longevity. It attempts to define old age and lists myths and prejudices associated with old age. It describes old age from different perspectives of multiple science fields, such as philosophy, biology, medicine, psychiatry, psychology, demography, sociology and social work. It depicts science fields concerned with old age and points out selected aspects of life that can influence elderly person, such as financial situation, housing situation, education, leisure activies, interpersonal relations. It also mentions possible crisis situations during old age, violence against elderly people and system of care of elderly people in the Czech republic. It explains the importance of adaptation during old age and outlines possible image of end of life. At the end of the thesis a set of recommendations for happy old age is included.
Adult day care center

5 Abstract This thesis is focused on the research of adult day care centers. Its aim is to answer the question how the the day care centers define the care from the point of view of different stakeholders; how are the centers specific to other social services and what are the possible problems and obstacles. Theoretical part describes the current situation of elderly care and deals with topics such as the demographic development of the Czech Republic, the media image of the elderly, new trends in the area of care, active aging, social services etc. Empirical research deals with two day care centers from the points of view of different stakeholders. The research, which results in two case studies and their comparisons, is carried out using qualitative methods - semi-structured interviews, analysis of documents and survey. Data analysis shows that the main function of day care centers is "relief service" for families who provide care to the frail seniors. The distinctive feature of day care centers is emphasizing differnces with other social services for elderly, especially the residential ones. Typology of Clients Senior House Bechyně

Theme of bachelor thesis is Typology of clients senior home Bechyně. Main goal was to find out, which clients are typical in senior home Bechyně from sociology point of view. Work is contained from two parts so as theoretical part and research.Teoretical part should present the most typical model of client in senior home Bechyně and the importance of adaptation the client in home for the elderly that should not to be underestimated. It also points out the important part of collaboration with family, importance of communication, saturating of needs, care and activating activity, which could help the client in this life period. Research was interpreted by method qualitative research through half-structured interview. Communication partners were chosen from senior home Bechyně. Ten seniors were asked to do the talk according to their maintained cognitive function so they were capable of answering the questions. Complementary method to comprehend look of selected issue was also made interviews with 8 employees of senior home from social and health care department. Research was made in two phases. At first was performed pre-research and after that the main research. Interviews were recorded on dictaphone and rewrite literally. Gained data were evaluated via method creating clusters. From results of the research emerged, that typical client of senior home Bechyně is more than 60 years old senior who has diabetes and suffers from dementia. Most of clients are coming from home environment. During the moving is important to care about adaptation in new environment and it should not be underrated. Gained knowledge and conclusions of bachelor thesis are going to be used as feedback for senior home Bechyně. The conclusion could also be used as foundation of next research or as addition to education material in looking after seniors from health and social aspects.
