Physiotherapy of orofacial dysfunctions for patients after cerebrovascular stroke
KLOUPAROVÁ, Adéla
The topic of my bachelor thesis is "Physiotherapy of patients after cerebral stroke orofacial dysfunction." Stroke is a neurological disorder that causes a disorder of individual parts of the brain with specific symptoms. Human population encounters difficulties of this disease more and more often. Even though the general public is informed of this disease, we cannot succeed to lower the occurrence. More and more populations encounter the problem of this disease, but despite the awareness of risk factors, it is failing to reduce its incidence. The purpose of this thesis is to map out the issue of stroke, consequences of orofacial disaes and its possible dysfunction. In addition, we propose, implement and evaluate the physiotherapeutic procedures used in three probands. The theoretical part deals with specific manifestations of cerebral stroke according to the affected part of the brain, description of orofacial area and it's possibly dysfunction which may result in the loss of a facial, speech or swallowing disorder. The last chapter of thesis examines the therapy of the subject from the point of view of the physiotherapist, occupational therapist and speech therapy. In the practical part were utilized qualitative research approaches, which included kinesiological and neurological analyzes of two patients after ischemic cerebral stroke with n. facialis.. Individual short-term and subsequent long-term rehabilitation plans for individual probands from the acute phase of stroke were assayed. Physiotherapy for these hospitalized individuals took place for two weeks at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the Neurological Department and the Rehabilitation Department at the Tomas Bata Regional Hospital in Zlín.
Use of myofunctional therapy in people with communication disability
Janečková, Sandra ; Komorná, Marie (advisor) ; Mlčková, Marie (referee)
The topic of this thesis is discussion of usage of myofunctional therapy on persons with communicative disorders. The main goal is to map the extent and possibilities of this therapy in speech therapy practice. The theoretical part deals with physiology and patophysiology of breathing, sucking, swallowing and the orofacial system. Further, in connection with myofunctional therapy it discusses its historical development, methodical approaches, utilities, therapeutical benefits and possibilities of education on this field. The empirical part contains a quantitative investigation, which analyses the extent and usage possibilities of this therapy by speech-language pathologists in the Czech Republic. Based on the data obtained by a questionnaire distributed to speech-language pathologists it can be stated, that about 20 % of the respondents do not use the myofunctional therapy in practice, while those (with one exception) never took part on an expert training. The offer of the trainings is rated as insufficient. The myofunctional therapy can be used on persons with orofacial disorders regardless of age or communicative disorder. KEYWORDS: myofunctional therapy, communicative disorder, swallowing, dysphagia, bite disorders, orofacial area
The intervention of physiotherapy in the treatment of dysarthria after stroke
Nováková, Kateřina ; Bitnar, Petr (advisor) ; Roubíčková, Lenka (referee)
Stroke is the most comman cause of the speech disorders in adults. Dysarthria, as a motor speech disorder, is one of them. The treatement is based not only on vocal and articulatory exercices, but it requires the complex rehabilitation treatement. The benefit of the physiotherapeutic intervention beside speech therapy might be large. The treatement of the muskuloskeletal system allows to see the orofacial disorders in the context of the posture of the whole body. This work wants to make a view on the process of speech production and to describe relationship of the musculoskeletal system and speech. This work also summarises the basic informations about pathogenesis of dysarthria and particularly about the treatement. The swallowing disorders are also very comman complication of the stroke and occur very often with dysarthria. The aim of this work is to describe the specific role of the physiotherapy in the treatement of dysarthria and look for some possibility of the cooperation between physiotherapist and clinical speech therapiste. The form of the work is the research with case history. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Effectiveness of co-operation of physiotherapy and speech therapy in school-age children with cerebral palsy
KASPEROVÁ, Eliška
This Bachelor thesis focuses on a co-operation of physiotherapy and speech therapy in school-age children with cerebral palsy (CP). In the first part CP is described as an illness - its forms, origin and impaired communication ability of these children. Next is the description of basic methods used in physiotherapy. In speech therapy I mentioned important factors of working with these children. The next section is dedicated to a practical part of the thesis, which is a quality research formulated by case studies. The research file is comprised of three children suffering CP - two girls and a boy, all three attending the Kaňka citizens' counselling centre. I gathered all the information using an entry kinesiological analysis, aspection, insight into their medical documentation and results given by their speech therapist. The first goal of my work was to describe diagnostic and therapeutic procedures used in physiotherapy and speech therapy in school-age children with CP. The second goal was to describe the differences in effectivity between a speech therapy following a physiotherapeutic care and speech therapy conducted in isolation. Every patient from my research file underwent seven therapies - entry kinesiological analysis, two speech therapy interventions with no previous physiotherapy and four different physiotherapies followed by a speech therapy intervention. The results were assessed based on my observation and a speech therapist evaluation. I myself view these therapies as successful ones, because my work showed that a co-operation of physiotherapy and speech therapy is very important, and it has its positive results. For example, the children's sitting poses were improved during speech therapy, their face expressions were more relaxed, their breathing in speech therapy exercises improved or their phonation time was extended.

The Incidence of Orofacial Pathology for Pupils in Special School and their Potential Remedies
PREDIGEROVÁ, Martina
In my bachelor work I am dealing with existence of orofacial pathologies in pupils at schools for disabled children, and the possibilities how to treat them. The aim of the scientific project is to map the existence of those pathologies in particular branches of orofacial field, and their presence regarding age and sex of children. Theoretical part focuses on the logopedics branch, the system of logopedic care in the Czech Republic, the orofacial field and its particular parts and pathologies. Next there is a description of diagnosis and therapy of such impairment. Practical part features frequency of myofunctional disorders based on observation method and comparison in connection with other factors. I also include case reports of two children diagnosed with myofunctional disorder. Based on available sources and questioning their parents the causes of origin of such impairment in orofacial field may be detected and uncovered.
