Srovnání vitality krytokořenného a prostokořenného sadebního materiálu v měnících se klimatických podmínkách prostředí
Charvát, Zdeněk
The aim of the thesis was to compare the vitality of the containerized and bare-root planting stock in the changing climatic conditions of the environment. For this purpose, four research plots were set up at forest habitat types 6S, 6K, 7S, and 7K. On each of the research plots, the following tree species were planted evenly: Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.), European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) and Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco); each of the above-mentioned trees was planted in two variants – containerized and bare-root, 200 seedlings per each variety. Subsequently, after the end of the vegetation period, measurements were made on 100 individuals from each variant. The following parameters and features were compared during the measurements: height of the above-ground part, length of the terminal growth, length of the lateral growth, diameter of the root collar, straightness of the stem, deviation of the stem from the vertical axis, crown width, crown shape, length, width and colour of the assimilation apparatus, presence of the multiplicity of the stem, kind of damage. Results of the study show that the bare-root planting stock has a higher vitality than the containerized one at all the studied forest habitat types. The smallest differences were found in Norway spruce variants and the largest differences were found in Douglas fir variants.
Natural regeneration in relation to different gap sizes
Hiitola, Nina Maria
The goal of this diploma thesis was to assess the spatial and temporal development of natural tree regeneration in forest openings, in the temperate forest types of South Moravia, Czech Republic. Relationships between micro-site conditions and seedling growth were analysed, with focus on gap size, light conditions and soil environment. Ten different semi-circular gaps, ranging from 0.02 hectares to 0.13 hectares in size, were included for carrying out sampling. The sampling followed a long-term research set up in 2013 by the Training Forest Enterprise Masaryk Forest Křtiny. The regeneration census focused on identifying prevalent species and recording their density and height class, in relation to their position in a canopy gap. Beech (Fagus sylvatica), Norway spruce (Picea abies) and silver fir (Abies alba) were the prevailing target species with varied mixed compositions, suggesting management favourability towards selection systems and irregular shelterwood system due to the high functioning level of shade tolerant tree dynamics.

Cathedral today
Klimeš, Jakub ; Mléčka, Jan (referee) ; Štěpán, Marek (advisor)
This project focuses on an ideal solution for restoring the roof of Notre-Dame in Paris, which burned down together with its spire on April 15, 2019. The main motive behind the design was to create a quiet space that will serve as a memorial of the fire and reflect the unity of the society that contributed to the rebuilding found. The primary step of the whole reconstruction is to find an adequate way of renewal and its ethical boundaries. Main attention is focused on the roof and on the spire of the cathedral. As a tribute to medieval builders who consecrated their lives into this magnificent piece of work. The exterior of the new design has the same silhouettes and proportions that it has got eight centuries ago, but with a touch of a modern day aesthetics. When designing the interior of the roof, it was really important to maintain a clear representation of Gothic architecture – the balance between darkness and light. The space is divided into two parts. The first part represents darkness, as an obstacle, which each of us has to overcome. The second part is full of natural light that seems to tear the roof of the cathedral and illuminates the entire space inside. At the heart of the design is a gem that matters the most, life. The spire of the cathedral is designed with four pillars that symbolize the connection of mind-spirit-body with physical world The idea of the spire reflects these seemingly different things, but together they unite into one piece.
Reconstruction of the Town Hall in Bojkovice
Zharova, Kseniia ; Mikeš, Stanislav (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor) ; Struhala, Karel (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis was the reconstruction and reconstruction of the Bojkovice Municipal Office. The municipal office building is located in the historical center of Bojkovice, at the crossroads of Sušilova and Komenského streets. From the south side, the areal adjacent to the train platform. The building itself is not a cultural monument, but in this work we consider that it is protected and is considered in terms of cultural values. The building consists of several parts of different ages, these parts are interconnected. Original oldest building - former municipal inn Leopold Bůchler, built in 1928. During the 20th century the first extension was built - from the eastern part of the building. In the 1980s, the second extension was built - the latest courtyard wing. The whole building with all the extensions creates a feeling of complexity, cramped space. Different height levels cause difficult interconnection between parts of the building. Construction of newer courtyard extensions flow, spaces in this part are currently not used. During the construction of the second extension, the truss structures were connected - the oldest building lost its historical value. The aim of my design was to give preference to the original object - to purify the structures suppressing the historical appearance, to add light and air. The solution was the removal of newer extensions. The historic building will be completely restored to its original form according to historical photographs: a truss, a Czech-style roofing, wooden lining windows, cornices and window frames. The newly designed buildings will be two-storeyed, the historic building will remain higher so it will be more massive. Historical and new parts will be differentiated in character and color - new buildings will be more modern in appearance, discreetly white using wooden elements on the facade, the original building - will be as close as possible to its historical appearance, will be in darker shades
