Burešová, Veronika ; Boukal, Petr (advisor) ; Jiránek, Radek (referee)
The Bachelor Thesis treats of fundraising activities of chosen non-profit organizations. Its goal is to find out, which activities are used in practice and what are their pluses and minuses. Firstly I define the non-profit sector and different types of non-profit organizations. In the next chapter I explain the concept of fundraising, than I describe the sources of income for non-profit organizations and fundraising activities leading to getting them. The practical part is about my own experimental probe. I wanted to find out, which fundraising activities are realised by non-profit organizations and how they prove competent. I used qualitative approach to learn particular information about activities of chosen organizations. I realised semi-structured interviews with seven organizations. I learned that the biggest part of revenues of the majority of addressed organizations is state grants. Many of organizations also realise corporation fundraising. It is usually done by connections of members of organizations with commercial corporations. The success consists in the originality and making long term partnerships. Some of organizations place in benefit activities, their success in this field is different. In the end I suggest some recommendations for realisation of fundraising activities.

Zrníková, Pavla ; Cihelková, Eva (advisor) ; Bič, Josef (referee)
The main aim of this thesis is to reveal the importance of the development aid in Kenya and to demonstrate, on the example of Slovak republic, which type of aid plays more important role -- wheather the official or unofficial aid. Effectivness of aid in Kenya is evaluated on the basis of correlation of the amounts of development aid and indices which show improvement or degradation of economic and social situation of the country. The significance of the official and unofficial aid is evaluated by comparing the projects that are supported by ODA and projects supported by non-governmental organizations on the basis of financial criterium and the reach of the projects. The contribution of this thesis is to show effectivness of development aid in poor countries on the example of Kenya. The work has three chapters. The object of the first chapter is to present economic and social situation in Kenya and individual factors which can help her to get over the underdevelopment. The second chapter offers characteristics of individual donors and evaluates the relevance of development aid. The last chapter presents concrete projects of ODA of Slovak republic and of Slovak non-governmental organizations and evaluates which of the two types of aid is more important.

Development issues of Sub-Saharan Africa with the intention of Namibia
JOUDALOVÁ, Kateřina
The bachelor degree thesis called ?Development Issues of Sub-Saharan Africa with a Focus on Namibia? deals with basic terms of development cooperation and with international organizations relevant for the topic, e.g. the World Bank and the United Nations. The chapter on selected causes of failure and on the current situation discusses political regimes, civil wars, indebtedness, remission of debt and approaches of ?planners? , i.e. big international entities providing development aid, such as UNICEF or USAID, versus ?searchers?, represented by non-governmental non-for-profit organizations Karas Huisen Crafts and Namibia People in Need. The thesis had one objective divided into three partial questions. The first partial objective was identical with the research question: Is the living standard in Namibia improving thanks to the traditional approach to development cooperation on the side of ?planners? or is it rather thanks to the alternative approach of ?searchers?? The answer to the question has been as follows: The improvements of the living standard in Namibia occur rather thanks to the alternative approach of ?searchers?. The second partial objective attempted to identify the influence of developed countries and world´s financial and development organizations on the development of Namibia. The final effect of entities involved in the development cooperation has proved to be favorable. The last partial objective was to evaluate the overall situation. Also this objective has been met and the situation evaluated. The answer mentioned particularly problems Namibia needs to deal with, such as alcoholism and related risks, including sexual promiscuity, violence and unemployment. A major issue is also the relatively widespread AIDS. Development is a very extensive topic and this thesis may continue further with an analysis of other causes of failure and of the current situation. In practice, the thesis will be provided to selected non-governmental non-for-profit organizations in the Czech Republic. The answer to the research question might further clarify the issue of ?searchers? versus ?planners? to those organizations, specifically the real powers of such entities.
Prevention of HIV/AIDS at basic schools in Pilsner region
ŠPELINOVÁ, Táňa
The widespread epidemic HIV/AIDS still remains a confirmed and terminal disease without any currable vaccine and therapy. The only means of protection to resist an infection and HIV spread is a patient´s education, motivation and proper prevention, whose essential tool for everybody is getting information. Especially young people are threatened by the attack of that infection, so mainly basic school should participate in the HIV/AIDS prevention. The first aim of my thesis is to find out, whether and what preventive activities are accomplished at basis schools in Pilsner Region. The research work has a qualitative character. The applied method was a questionaire which was sent and applied to 31 organizations associated in Forum of non-governmental organizations at National Comisssion for HIV/AIDS problem solving in 2006. Another applied method was the derived analysis of data and documents. The second aim of my thesis was to find out basic pupil´s knowledge about HIV/AIDS infection. A qualitative research was chosen to achieve objective results. A questionaire was a research method. 319 pupils from 8th and 9th classes created a selective group. HIV/AIDS problems are always included in some school subjects at all the basic schools. Tution of the appropriate topic is provide only by school teachers and outweighs the use of supporting preventive programmes. Increased demands on school teachers education about HIV/AIDS result from that fact. Basis school pupils have basic knowledge about HIV/AIDS infection. Most pupils acquired information about HIV/AIDS at basic schools. Pupils consider a condom to be a hundrer-per-cent protection to resist veneral diseases. Despite the knowledge of this danger pupils don´t feel threatened by HIV/AIDS infection. Results of my thesis proved that as for information handover, the prevention accomplished at basic schools is efficient. Pupils´ have information about HIV/AIDS. If they act up to them even in possible risky situations that is another question. Since it is a serious problem, it seems to be necessary to keep acting this prevention whose part should be not only the information handover, but also the action at pupil´s behaviour and their responsibility.
