Families at risk of social failure in the region of Karlovy Vary

This thesis is focusing on families at risk of social failure in the Region of Karlovy Vary. The aims of this work are outlining social situation in the Region of Karlovy Vary, mapping network of social service for families at risk of social failure and finding out the most frequent problems these families are struggle with. Outputs are the recommendations for SOS Children's Villages in Doubí in Karlovy Vary based on above presented findings that tells which services for families at risk would be advisable to set up. In theoretical part of final thesis is defined the concept of family at risk and then based on foreign experiences are cited the principles of how to work with these families. Practical part is build on study of feasibility realizes by SOS Children's Villages Association, which was finding out neediness of social services for families at risk and children in the Region of Karlovy Vary, where this organization is considering realization of programs for family support.
Needs of families in the shelter and possibilities of social work with family

The master thesis "Needs of families in the shelter and possibilities of social work with family" is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part consists of six chapters which answer the basic questions of the issue. Specifically, it defines the term homelessness, its types and causes. The next chapter is devoted to the concept of family, its function and manifestation in postmodern society. The following chapter explains family cohabitation disorders, in particular family with a substance abusing member, incomplete family, family abusing and neglecting their children, family at risk of domestic violence, family with a sentenced member, family with a mentally ill adult member, family with a problematic child, family with a disabled child, and family with multiple issues. Description of shelter (especially shelter for families with children), its legal definition, and shelter network in the Czech Republic is another integral component of the theoretical part. The theoretical part is concluded with description of possibilities of social work with family in a shelter. The empirical part contains results of interviews and focus groups. Possibilities of Development of Individual Functions in Socially Disadvantaged Children in Younger School Age

This thesis deals with the possibilities of development of partial functions in socially disadvantaged children of younger school age. The theoretical part introduces basic characteristics of children of younger school age, social disadvantage, and impacts of environment on education; partial functions, their diagnostics, and deficits in such functions. It also presents specific learning disorders and behaviour disorders as well as selected options of support for socially disadvantaged children. The practical part presents the results of the research focused on the situation of socially disadvantaged children of younger school age within the context of possibilities of development of their partial functions. The qualitative research was processed using the grounded theory method, while the methods of data collection included interview, observation, and analysis of document. The key elements found were the exhaustion of parents of socially disadvantaged children and transferring of responsibility for the education process to the child. The conclusion of the thesis contains practical recommendations for work with families with children in connection with the education of socially disadvantaged children and the possibilities of supporting their development.

Social Work and the crisis in the postmodern era

The work deals with ethical implications that arise from social work with manyproblems family. The work is divided into three chapters. The first chapter deals with values and ethics in social work. The second chapter describes family, its functions and pathologies that may occur. Defines manyproblems families. The third chapter is the core of social work with manyproblems families mainly on ethical aspects associated with it. This is mainly a different value system of manyproblems families and social work, and on the ethical dilemmas that arise when a conflict of values of social worker.
