The effectiveness of mind-mapping learning strategy to extend vocabulary knowledge among elementary students
Šnevajsová, Helena ; Mikuláš, Martin (advisor) ; Kacafírková, Petra (referee)
Knowledge of vocabulary is an essential part of linguistic competence. Many students learn English vocabulary by translation and rote memorisation of vocabulary lists, which can result in the inability to use the words in well-formed sentences and appropriate contexts. Some students may find rote memorisation monotonous. This study examines the effectiveness of using the mind-map learning strategy to extend English vocabulary. Thirty-one elementary school students (15 men and 16 women) from two different elementary schools completed a short test before vocabulary instruction to obtain baseline data. Vocabulary instruction with the use of mind maps learning strategy followed. The recall was measured at the end of the lesson and one to two weeks after vocabulary instruction. A subjective assessment of the mind map learning strategy to learn vocabulary was taken. The results show that the knowledge of vocabulary items improved compared with the baseline. Moreover, students retained similar knowledge even after one to two weeks. New information was moved to the long-term memory of the students. Students were able to recall vocabulary from a medium- term perspective. Subjective assessment of the learning strategy showed that students enjoy learning vocabulary with mind maps more than writing vocabulary...

Teaching Program on the Topic of the Respiratory System for Elementary Schools Using Activation Methods
Bašová, Tereza ; Vojíř, Karel (advisor) ; Ehler, Edvard (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the topic of the respiratory system and its inclusion in the teaching of natural sciences. The topic of the respiratory system can be quite abstract for pupils in terms of gas exchange or overall anatomy of the respiratory system. In the context of today's time of global pandemic, is important topical topic. In the theoretical part, the thesis deals with the analysis of the problems of the respiratory system, the analysis and content of this topic in the FEP for basic education. Within the theoretical part, classical and activating teaching methods were also analyzed, which were crucial for the subsequent creation of the educational program. The aim of the practical part of the thesis was to create and verify the proposed educational program on the topic of the respiratory system at primary school. This research was carried out in the 8th grade of elementary school and the phenomenon examined was their conceptual understanding, which was verified on the basis of mind maps before, after and with a time interval after the teaching program. The results show that the educational program had a positive effect on conceptual understanding and work using activation methods has a positive effect on pupils. It is evident from the recults that the educational program had a...

Title: Methodic of techniques for selected situations in greco-roman wrestling Objectives: The aim of this bachelor work is a creation of graphic material, which has the form of mind maps, that showcase selected positions occuring in a grecoroman wrestling match. Created mind maps will contain techniques, that might be used during these situations and each of them will be described. This work is created for the purpose of helping advanced wrestlers and their trainers whit their tactical and technical preparation. Methods: The collection of knowledge in this work was carried out by a literature search, which deals with the topic of wrestling, mind maps and tactical and technical preparation. (english) The subject of this thesis is the analysis of the development and use of medical simulators in terms of information support, basic description and introduction to the issue of medical training simulators themselves. The introduction describes the simulators since the beginning of the historical development to the current use. Subsequently, the work deals with manikin for patient simulators, the essential components, required for proper functioning, which are mathematical models on the background of the simulators. The chapter on repositories, describes the problems of model documentation and archiving of articles which describes the models. There are described reference managers for managing the literature and made a basic comparison of their features. The thesis focuses on a selected reference manager - Docear, which is described and used in the practical part. Application of mind maps in ELT with the emphasis on lexis in one-to-one courses, groups and self-teaching
Borovková, Petra ; Dvořák, Bohuslav (advisor) ; Vít, Radek (referee)
This work deals with an implementation of mind maps in ELT. It stems from the master thesis Mind Maps in English Language Teaching, and it further explores and develops its assumptions. This thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part gives an explanation why mind maps serve as an effective learning strategy. It is dedicated to the problem of memory, organisation of thoughts, strategies of consolidation, and learning styles. Examples of activities focused on various language skills based on mind maps, can be found in the practical part of the thesis. The crucial part is the one which concentrates on a new technique of learning vocabulary via mind maps. In this part, there are chapters devoted to an application of this technique in one-to-one courses, groups and in self-teaching. Observations are added to the description of the technique. As oppose to the master thesis, this time the research focuses on using the technique in a group.
Mind Maps in English LanguageTeaching
Borovková, Petra ; Dvořák, Bohuslav (advisor) ; Hofmannová, Marie (referee)
The thesis discusses using mind maps in English language teaching. It explains what mind maps are and how to use them effectively. This thesis includes a theoretical as well as a practical part. The theoretical part offers two points of view of the problem - psychological and pedagogical. The psychological part deals with theoretical knowledge of memory and learning. In the pedagogical part, firstly learning styles in connection with mind maps are discussed; secondly some demonstrations of using mind maps in various English textbooks are presented. The practical part focuses mainly on new ideas. First chapter of the practical part shows various classroom or individual mind map activities that concentrate on different language skills. The second chapter is the most important section of the whole thesis as it introduces a new method for learning vocabulary via mind maps. Observations of four students using the method and reflections on it are offered in the following chapters. Finally, the results and conclusions of the observations as well as the advantages and disadvantages of mind maps in general are presented.
Computer assisted physics education in basic schools
SALCER, David
The goal of this master's theses is to create interactive educational package for teaching physics at primary schools. Next part of the thesis will be creating new interactive materials for teaching "Acoustic" and then testing the materials in their compatibility/usability part and test it in real teaching.
