Nurse management of patients with visual impairment during admission and hospitalization
PRÁŠILOVÁ, Renáta
The present thesis focuses on managing the work of nurses caring for patients with visual impairment. Visually challenged patients constitute a particular group of patients with needs and demands different from those of sighted patients due to their visual impairment. The research aimed to investigate the experiences and knowledge of nurses providing care to patients with visual impairment and to identify the most frequent challenges and barriers that arise when delivering care. The empirical part of the thesis used qualitative research methods. Data was gathered using semi-structured interviews. Even though the research results cannot be generalised as they are specific to the research population, they revealed many very serious difficulties that nurses and patients have to deal with daily. The research also highlighted the underlying causes of these difficulties. Nurses have limited experience in treating patients with visual impairment. The lack of training programmes for this specific group of patients means that nurses do not know how to approach and communicate with them appropriately. The results of the present thesis may inspire the management of healthcare providers responsible for providing a safe environment for patients with visual impairments. The research results indicate a general deficiency in training programmes focusing on the care of the visually impaired.
Management of chronic wound healing in post-surgical patients
ŠKORNIČKA, Matěj
The theoretical part of the thesis presents the definition of the term chronic wound and its specification after surgery. The second part is focused on the factors that support its formation and healing. The third section presents aspects related to patient interaction and management of chronic wound healing. In addition, there are innovations in the healing of chronic wounds. The aim of the diploma thesis was to find out what assessment methods nurses use to assess wounds and map how they implement the care of a patient with a chronic wound after surgery. The effort was to find out the maximum aspects and then get answers to the research questions. The empirical part is processed by qualitative research using the technique of semi-structured interviews and non-participant observation in surgical departments. The interview was given by 11 informants from different regions and different departments, and 6 observations were also made. The results revealed that one of the most important methods used is their senses, evaluation tools or scales and photo documentation. Nurses like to use these methods. According to the nurses, education and professional assertive communication is an integral part of the wound healing process. Supporting methods in the treatment of the wound are regular debridement and the use of current methods, which include moist healing and negative pressure methods. From the results, it can be concluded that nurses like to use new methods and techniques, but everything depends on the doctor's office. An important aspect that the nurses mention is the cooperation between health professions.

The practical part of the thesis includes the processing and evaluation of results obtained through research investigation. The main research question is: How are residential social services managed during crisis situations? The communication partners are managers of residential social services in the Tabor district who expressed an interest in participating in the research. Data analysis - open and axial coding - was used in the evaluation of the obtained data. The research indicates that although leading staff members of residential social services approach crisis management individually, they share a common emphasis on readiness for crisis situations, quick and effective crisis resolution, and subsequent evaluation, from which they draw insights and lessons for future crisis situations. The diploma thesis could contribute as feedback for the managers of residential social services who participated in the research, and it can also be used as informational material for the public.
Age Management in Residential Social Services
NEDBALOVÁ, Aneta
The aim of the diploma thesis was to find out how age management is implemented in residential social services in the district of Jindřichův Hradec from the point of view of management and control of residential social services. The first partial objective was to find out the experience from the point of view of the management of residential social services with the implementation of age management. The second partial objective was to find out what procedures residential social services have in the context of age management. The third partial objective was to find out whether and how do the residential social services work with the Work Ability Index. The research part was carried out on the basis of a qualitative research strategy. The method of questioning and the technique of semi-structured interview were used. The data were processed using open coding and thematic analysis. The informants were selected on the basis of a total selection through institutions. The research sample consisted of 7 informants, who were managers of residential social services. The research has found that only elements of age management are used in residential social services, not the whole concept. The managers have experience with only certain elements and it has been shown that they are often not sufficiently informed about age management. However, many different procedures are implemented in the addressed organizations that are a part of age management, even if the managers are not aware that these are parts of age management. Unfortunately, none of the organizations uses the Work Ability Index tool. This diploma thesis can be beneficial for students of social services management and managers of residential social services, to whom it provides inspiration and insight on the use of age management elements in residential social services.
