Secure data archiving using cloud computing
Šulič, Martin ; Sikora, Marek (referee) ; Člupek, Vlastimil (advisor)
This master’s thesis is focused on detailed analysis of possibilities of implementing a private cloud and secure data archiving for a long period of time using open-source tools. It describes the individual standards and processes of data preparation, as well as the OAIS reference model for long-term preservation. From the analyzed information, a complete design of the final solution is created, with a description of the functionality and the method of deployment in the environment of Docker containers. The design implementation and the main functionality of individual systems such as Archivematica or Nextcloud are thoroughly described and also the hardware requirements and cryptographic security were evaluated.
The Future of Film Archiving
Wünsch, Robert ; Papík, Richard (advisor) ; Miranda, Andrea (referee)
(in English): The aim of the thesis is to show different possibilities and requirements concerning the preservation of film copies before and after digitalization and compare the chosen film archives. In the thesis was used own experience with the digitalization of cinemas, and there are also shown possible problems, which can occur, while storing the digital audiovisual data on a long term basis. The Digital Cinema Package (used in the most film-storing institutions) is described in detail in the thesis. The thesis reflects the current state in Czech Republic and other countries with the help of case study and on the basis of the film archives evolution.
The National Archival Collection of the Czech Republic
Svobodová, Eliška ; Vorlíčková, Blanka (advisor) ; Šípek, Richard (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to introduce the The National Archival Collection of the Czech Republic (CR NKF). The library collection is absolutely unique in its main objective that is to collect all Czech and foreign bohemical printed and non-printed documents, including journals since 1901. This thesis aims to introduce this collection both in a historical and current context, especially via library line or through ongoing projects in cooperation with the CR NKF. In the end, the work exaplains long-term protection and preservation of modern library collections in foreign countries and compares it with the situation in the NKF in the Czech Republic.

The ARCLib Project: an Open-Source Solution for Long-Term Preservation
Růžička, Michal
The talk informs about the Czech ARCLib project. One of the main goals of the project is the development of an open-source solution for a bit-level and logical preservation of digital documents, respecting the national and international standards as well as the needs of all types of libraries in the Czech Republic. The mission of the ARCLib project lies, among others, in creating a solution that will allow institutions to implement all of the OAIS functional modules and entities, considering institutions’ information model. The architecture is planned as open and modular and the final product will be able to ingest, validate and store data from a majority of software products used for creating, disseminating and archiving libraries’ digital and digitised data in the Czech Republic.

Research Data Analysis Based on the Collection of Dissertation Theses of Charles University in Prague with Regard to Long-term Digital Preservation
Pavlásková, Eliška ; Krbec, Pavel (advisor) ; Ivánek, Jiří (referee) ; Bartošek, Miroslav (referee)
This dissertation thesis focuses on research data and their use in academics from the point of view of long-term preservation. It maps usage of research data at Charles University in Prague, analyses them and lays the foundation for further research. The first part of the text focuses on the theory of long term preservation and describes the most relevant concepts regarding users, storage and structure of research data. The second part is devoted directly to research data. It consists of definition of research data, the short explanation of their importance and sources, and the model of their lifecycle. The pivotal part of the thesis is the description and the results of the research itself. The research was conducted during the year 2015 and was based on a sample of dissertation theses from the collections of Charles University in Prague. Collected data were analysed by the methods of content analysis and grounded theory. Results are presented in two main parts - content analysis results with regard to differences among science, social science and humanities, and qualitative analysis results.
