The Liturgy and the Teaching of Pope Francis

Tittle: The Liturgy and the Teaching of Pope Francis The thesis follows up a question of how the topic of the liturgy is present in Pope Francis's teaching, what is the place of the liturgy in his pastoral office, and what aspects of the church liturgy are specifically important to him. In the beginning of my study, I will outline the basic definitions of the Pope's teaching, and refer to the character of Pope Francis himself. Later on I will introduce texts and passages, in which Pope Francis mentions liturgy, and then I will focus on selected aspects, and compare them to the general conception of these aspects in the context of church documents. The Reform of Baptism in the Czech Lands from the 15th to 17th Century: An Analysis of Liturgical Texts

This diploma thesis called "The Reform of Baptism in the Czech Lands from the 15th to 17th Century: An Analysis of Liturgical Texts" is focused on comparation of liturgical texts dealing with baptismal liturgy. The main objects of my interest are Agenda created in our territory from the 15th to 17th Century. In the first part of the thesis there is a short outline of baptismal's liturgy evolution from the New Testament period to the Martin Luther's reform. In the next part there are presented domestic Agenda containing baptismal forms which are the main subject of this thesis. These Agenda comes from Roman Catholic church, from Utraquist church, three Agenda represented the evangelical type and the last item describes the baptism in Unitas Fratrum during the period of Lukáš Pražský. Jana Šmardová Koulová Resumé Svou prací jsem došla k závěrům, že přínos skladatele Petra Ebena je pro českou a světovou duchovní hudbu opravdu velký a jeho skladby jsou skutečnou pomocí v ekumenické práci. Autorova vlastní upřímná víra v Boha se, díky jeho usilovné smysluplné práci, nese tóny skladeb dál k posluchači, kterého skutečně oslovuje. Pochopil služebnost hudby a podřídil ji moudrosti slov, jejich pravému významu a obsahu, čímž její význam naopak pozdvihl. Vznikla díla, která opravdu k posluchači promlouvají svým poselstvím, dokonce ho i formují. Na základě této práce a získaných poznatků, se určitě pokusím Ebenovu Truvérskou mši, pro její jednoduchost a přitom nádhernou melodičnost, citlvě propojenou hudbu se slovy, která byla inspirována vírou v Boha, zařadit do katecheze dětí. ThDr. Pavel Filipi Department of Practical Theology Summary Homiletical and Liturgical Aspects of Funeral Services This dissertation introduces fundamental context which influences shape of funeral services liturgy and preaching (particularly in Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren). This is followed by study on possible connections between ritual and liturgy and also possible contribution of modern ritual studies to the theology of liturgy is presented. The Liturgical Life and Related Carmelite Sisters' Practice after 1989 This thesis analyzes liturgical praxis and related habitual practice of two existing communities of Carmelite Nuns in Czech Republic. The purpose of this study is to. It is divided in five chapters. First two chapters concern the history of Carmelite Order and the attitude of Carmelites towards liturgy. In the third chapter the author summarizes the life of Carmelites nuns in the years 1950 − 1989 (during the communist era) and its impact on the communities nowadays. The fourth chapter offers a brief overview on various liturgical traditions which might have influenced the development of Carmelite liturgy. In the light of the those preliminary survey, the last chapter analyzes the typical daily liturgical schedule of a Carmelite nun and attempts to discern the origin of its components.

Czech advent masses and their place in the liturgy of Advent

Czech advent mass and their place in the liturgy of Advent This thesis deals with the phenomenon of Czech advent mass and their place in the liturgy of Advent. It represents the interconnection of music and liturgy from the beginning through Gregorian chant , polyphonic music, folk and spiritual song to the votive Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary, at the advent mass was sung . With the advent mass bachelor thesis observes their development from inception to the present form and location in the now commonly used hymn books . They recorded town , where most advent mass singing and where they are most often placed archival indicative of their original form. These records, ie different rorátní books and hymn books are also briefly mentioned . Attention is drawn to the most frequent interpreters advent mass , and those are the literary fraternity. The Second Liturgy of Czechoslovak Hussite Church

Presented work has in its first part tried to evaluate both textual and theological development of the liturgy in the Czechoslovak (Hussite) church. It has focused on Farsky's translation of the Roman Mass from 1919, first liturgical reforms of the young church, liturgical diversification and unifiction in newly conceived liturgy by Karel Farsky in 1923. The work further follows development of such liturgy, especially its revision in 1939 and attempts of liturgical renewal in seventies and eighties of the twentieth century. The final conclusion of the thesis resides in stating that revision was crucial for blurring certain parts of Farsky's liturgy. It was not conciliated with Učení, official doctrinal document of the Church, and also didn't stay in line with its origin. The main part of the work is focused on analysis of singular parts of Second Liturgy s it was adopted by Assembly in 1991. We attempt to compare this liturgy with earlier versions as mentioned above. This thesis particularly states, that recent version of the Second Liturgy presents two parts of the liturgy of the Word,when the first reading is sharply distinguished from the rest. he diploma thesis "Christian Church Funeral Ceremonies" deals with Roman Catholic Church funeral ceremonies, both preceding and following the Second Vatican Council reforms, Greek Catholic Church funeral ceremonies and those of Eastern Orthodox Church, Czechoslovak Hussite Church and Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren. It describes various ceremonies and their historical development. By means of comparing the structures of these ceremonies it attempts to find what they have in common as well as what makes them distinctively different in terms of liturgy and theological teaching. It examines the theme of death, after-life conceptions, and funeral ceremonies in life of ancient people and European pagans, Jewish tradition and culture of Middle ages. It also covers the area of the last things of a man and resurrection matter as far as it is mentioned in liturgical books. Finally it questions the suitability of available liturgical texts concerning special cases and new forms of funeral ceremonies. Current church choirs in Prague

Bachelor thesis titled Current church choirs in Prague deals with the characterization and description of ten mixed choirs, aktive at major temples in Prague. The content of the chapters focuses on the history of the choirs, their location, organizational structure, repertoire, released CDs, atmosphere and cooperation within the choirs and parishes. Interviews with the choirmasters, a survey with the members of the choirs and other available materials are the sources of information for my thesis. The outcome of this work is to summarize and compare the obtained information.
