This writing deales with the genesis of characters of Jára Cimrman. From his plays arranged chronoligically are extracted the most important points of his life, which should be used to assess, if it creates consistent, finished komplex of literary figure in the literary fiction. At the same time, the data are used to assess how the character was developping, if Mr. Zdeněk Svěrák and Mr. Ladislav Smoljak had predeterminated direction, which they sould také or if they had not and Jára Cimrman was developed play by play. Before the practical part there is mentioned in the writing theoretical part, dealing with literary fiction, literary mystification and literary figure.

Language Resources in Fictional Diaries as a Genre of Literature for Children and Youth

The diploma thesis deals with analysis of linguistic meanings, content and graphic processing of fictional diaries for children and youth. The subject of the diploma thesis is the research expession means of selected titles from the point of view the sex of the fictitious writers of diaries and of the existence of characters in a given type of fictitious world. This is also related to find out what effect these means have on the apparent authenticity of the diaries. The theoretical part offers an overview of the overall development of literature for children and youth from the beginning to the present. The terms of the genre and diary are clarified in this part. The overview of contemporary genres and currently published titles are mentioned as well as their popularity at these days.

The myth of the literary

This diploma thesis is concerned with possible connection between literary theory of Wolfgang Iser and analytic philosophy of language. First of all I introduce analytic linguistic turn in general but the main part of thesis is dedicated to two opposite conceptions of language and interpretaton within the latter period of analytical movement. I want to explore Michael Dummett's and Donald Davidson's dispute over the role of conventions and questions about their indispensability in linguistic communication.Whereas their own opinions converge in view of the fact that influence of society on human thought is radically irreducible, there is great difference between their beliefs in the necessity of conception of rules inherent in social linguistic practice. My aim is to vindicate Davidson's theory of interpretation against Dummett's objections and then continue to discussing Iser's own theory of reading. Particularly I try to demonstrate that Iser's concept of literariness is based on Dummett's philosophical assumptions. In closing the main interest will be to reconsider if Iser's explanation of difference between literature and ordinary speech or document stands up to Davidson's challenge of Iser's entire treatment of linguistic practice. Apocalyptic movie - background, forms and function

The bachelor thesis "Apocalyptic movie - background, forms and function" deals the apocalyptic movie phenomenon as a functional element in the occidental civilization since 1920s until now. It investigates the origins of apocalyptic thinking, i.e. expectation of the end- time, and emphasizes its religious, philosophic and practical impact in society based on Judeo- Christian tradition. It tries to adumbrate recent public apprehension, evoked by technology development, spreading of diseases, overpopulation or clash of cultures, and sums up various pessimistic visions in perspectives of human and natural sciences. Then it focuses on the beginning of apocalyptic theme in literary fiction and finally in cinematography. The work brings the original typology of apocalyptic themes, designed on the base of sample of one hundred and fifty best rated movies, and with that tries to confirm reflecting essence of apocalyptic movie, whereas compares distribution of themes and parallel social events or moods in decades. In an effort to clarify function of apocalyptic movie, the work, with help of McLuhan's media theory, uses the concept of moral panic. There and back again, successful life, social work

This work describes a special kind of story about the journey there and back again or journey to gain experience. The nature of this narrative is given by the presence of several key points: the existence of primary and secondary world, wandering throughout secondary world, the transformation of a hero and a reader, homecoming. Presented definition of the story is the starting point from which are being searched connections with the professional disciplines of social work and ethics. In social work the diagram of these trips back and forth presents acquiring an expertise in various scientific fields. For plane of ethics it is particularly significant credibility of the moment from this journey back and forth when the story of the hero and the reader becomes a good (or bad) story positive or negative.
