The master´s thesis is focused on the definition of the role of HR and line manager at LAC, Ltd. The thesis consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is based on findings of the literature which is aimed at human resources management, role of HR manager and role of line managers in the company. The practical part deals with description of the company and its human resources management and an analysis of the role of line and HR managers in the company using interview method.
The role of managers in the system of internal communication in company

The thesis deals with the issues of communication in the context of organization functioning. It explains the distinction between external and internal communication. The focus is on the internal communication, its types and means. Further we identify the competencies and roles of the line manager in the hierarchy of an organization and also the specific features of his performance in the area of internal communication. At the same time, we stress the role of the line manager in using the means of formal oral communication, such as a department meeting, a company-wide conference and a teleconference. The empirical analysis of the thesis focuses on the role of line managers at meetings, company-wide conferences and teleconferences in a particular company. Semi- structured interviews with line managers and enquiry questionnaires among subordinate employees offer an insight and assessment of the role of the line manager at the above mentioned formal meetings in this company.

The competencies of the personnel officer have been researched many times recently. It is rather complicated to establish the competencies of professionals in the area of personnel procedure, it is necessary to consider type and size of the organization, where the l personnel officer acts, the organization's culture, strategy, position of the personnel manager, etc. The authorities and responsibility for decision making, concerning personnel consequences, are more and more deputed to the line executive staff. They have the decisive power during the selective procedure; they are responsible for performance rating and remuneration of the staff, they co-decide the leading of the career, etc. In this way the line executive staffs obtain responsibility not only for vocational activity, but also for the selective procedure. There is a movement from traditional, reactive and administrative role of the HR department to an active counselling role, where the elements of the traditional role of the HR department are deputed to the line managers. Diploma thesis deals with the assessment of performance appraisal of non-medical healthcare employees in Oblastní nemocnice Jičín a.s. . The thesis contents theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part anchors the performance appraisal system into the human resource management, with focus on the role of line managers. It also deals with the definition of job performance, circumstances that influence, and capabilities of its monitoring. Another part of the thesis emphasizes on the implementation of employee appraisal into practice, in which top management of the organization plays an important role. At the end of the theoretical part, I try to highlight the importance of linking of employee assessment with the vision, goals and values of the organization. The theoretical part offers the solution of the imperfections identified in the applied research. The practical part brings point of view on the reasons and way of implementation of employee appraisal in the organization, its adaptation by the employees and effectiveness of its use by the line managers.
