Determination of geotechnical properties of soils with using method of Electrical Impedance Spectrometry
Líšková, Ivana ; Erbenová, Alexandra (referee) ; Pavlík, Jiří (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with determination of geotechnical properties of soils with using method of electrical impedance spectrometry (EIS). For measurement was used device Z-meter of 3rd generation, which was developed with projects of international program of applied research EUREKA. Experiment was realized in Laboratory of soil mechanics in GEOtest a.s. in Brno.
Selection and development of educational materials for high school support webpage www.studiumchemie.cz
Zaspalová, Jana ; Šmejkal, Petr (advisor) ; Petrželová, Simona (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with selection, design and creation of new education materials for high school teacher supporting webpage www.studiumchemie.cz. The selection of the proper theme was done on the basis of research and evaluation of recent materials on the mentioned webpage and materials created at the Department of chemical education of Faculty of Science of Charles University in Prague. Preliminarily, the themes of synthetic macromolecular materials and new materials were selected. The convenience of the selected themes was confirmed by research and evaluation concerned to the preliminarily selected theme of recent high school textbooks and webpages. Consequently, educational materials in the form of PowerPoint presentations, websites, worksheets, tests, games and experiments focused on the themes of synthetic macromolecular substances and new materials were created. Materials were processed in accordance with the Framework Education Programme for Secondary General Education (Grammar Schools) as well as in accordance with the requirements of the Catalogue of graduation exam requirements from chemistry. The PowerPoint presentation and the webpage on synthetic macromolecular materials were roughly evaluated by group of teachers and the results of the evaluation are also part of the thesis....
Moving dynamic test loads for road bridges - a case study
Bayer, Jan ; Urushadze, Shota
Two types of dynamic testing load for bridges - driving sprung mass and driving impulse load - areexamined from the drive-by identification point of view. Numerical studies in ANSYS using contact elements and in MATLAB using a modal solution together with coupling force were performed. Equations for the estimation of the impulse load caused by a rolling cogwheel were suggested. The experiments confirmed that a driving impulse load is more efficient in exciting bridge vibrations. This, together with the fact that impulse loading is not sensitive to surface roughness, leads to the conclusion that, as a method for bridge health monitoring, impulse loading is more promising than using a driving sprung mass
Predicting Field Experiment Results in a Lab
Chadimová, Kateřina ; Cingl, Lubomír (advisor) ; Krištoufek, Ladislav (referee)
This thesis is aimed at forecasting of experimental results in a lab environment, investigating often discussed external validity of laboratory experiments. We run a novel laboratory experiment in which the subject pool is asked to make predictions on results of a certain field experiment. The collected data is ana lyzed using different accuracy measures, arriving at several interesting results. First, the forecast among the 94 subjects is quite informative about the actual treatment effects although its accuracy substantially varies based on a type of accuracy measure and a particular treatment. Second, the average forecast is either more accurate or at least comparable to the mean individual forecast, proving the presence of "wisdom-of-crowds" effect.
Hydrodynamic Behavior of Bubbles in Slot Channels.
Ezeji, Kingsley
We present results of laboratory experiments investigating the dynamics of air bubbles rising in stagnant or co-flowing liquid (water) in inclined channels of rectangular cross-sections.\n\n

Petroš, V. ; Bagde, M. N. ; Daněk, T. ; Hofrichterová, L. ; Hudeček, V. ; Michalčík, P. ; Slivka, V. ; Špinka, O. ; Vavro, M. ; Žůrek, P. ; Holub, Karel
The aim of this project was oriented to determination of physical-mechanical characteristics of rocks under dynamic load using laboratory device MTS 816 Rock Test System. The research was drawn to investigation of surrounding rocks properties, i.e. rocks from the rock massif, where anomaleous geomechanical events do occur.
