Guilt, Purification, Forgiveness
Slezáková, Veronika ; Keřkovský, Pavel (advisor) ; Halama, Jindřich (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the conceptions of Guilt, Purification and Forgiveness. Based on the study of the writings of Karl Jaspers, Božena Komárková, Martin Buber and Helmut Weber, the thesis comes to an understanding of the issues of guilt, forgiveness and purification in both philosophical and theological terms. Furthermore, this work introduces other issues that relate to the chosen topic, for example, the concepts of Repentance, Penance and Conversion. Thanks to the acquired findings, I want to come to an understanding of the concept of guilt in Bernhard Schlink's novel The Reader. This thesis is concerned with Schlink's comprehension of guilt as well as with the foundation for reconciliation with guilt that Schlink outlines. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Guilt - the view of the theological ethics
Novák, Robert ; Ovečka, Libor (advisor) ; Mašek, Vojtěch (referee)
This work examines from various points of view the role and signifikance of guilt within the history of humankind and a man, shows the traps and obstacles during its processing as well as the destructive consequences of the unprocessed guilt in life of every culpable human being and his/her relations with other people and the God. The first part is focused on its possible understanding and division within the framework of a certain philosophical thinking, first of all in the horizontal level of human relations. After the rational reflection of the subject of guilt and its systematical division within the philosophical thoughts follows up the vertical view of the faith upon the guilt as a sin in contributions of catholic theologists and the tradition of Magisterium in the following chapter. The third section, using a method of biblical exegesis, shows its effect and chances to overcome it with a help of God within the life stories of selected biblical characters of The Old and The New Testament. The last part of the work pays attention to the paradox of a "felix culpa" and the chances, that are offered to the culprits in the specific environment of a prison. The obtained knowledge is being confronted with the personal life experience of the author, who is dealing with his own guilt and a fatal...

Borovanská, Johana ; Čapek, Jakub (advisor) ; Němec, Václav (referee)
Main focus of this thesis is guilt and forgiveness, based on the analysis of the texts of Karl Jaspers (The Question of German Guilt), Anthony J. Steinbock (Moral Emotions: Reclaiming the Evidence of the Heart) and Vladimir Jankélévitch (Forgiveness). The above mentioned topics are followed by analysis of resentment which is closely related to both of these topics. The first part of the thesis is focused on the classification of the guilt, presented by Karl Jaspers, ie. The particular types of guilt are discussed here: the criminal, the political, the moral and the mathaphysical guilt. Following topic is focusing on the collective guilt and related questions. Jaspers' classification of guilt is folowed by Steinbock's analysis of the experence of guilt. Steinbock, in difference form Jaspers, focuses manily on the fundamental features of guilt that is considered as an experience. That presents a good addition to to Jaspers' concept of guilt which does not concern at these questions, or does so only partly. In the next part the topic of repentance, as elaborated by Steinbock, is presented. The repentance is a possible consequence of guilt, has some features in common with guilt, and is condition of possibile forgiveness. The final part of the thesis combines conceptions of both authors aiming not only...
