Eating habits and their relation with weight development after bariatric surgery
Poshor, Vít ; Konečná, Judita (advisor) ; Starnovská, Tamara (referee)
Introduction: Despite modern obesity treatments such as pharmacotherapy and bariatric surgery, lifestyle intervention remains one of the key therapies. In particular, modification of dietary habits, increasing physical activity, and improvement of psychological state, which often complicates weight loss and maintenance of achieved weight loss. The treatment of obesity should be dealt with in particular by doctors and health professionals who are knowledgeable about the issue and who use the correct diagnostic and therapeutic approach. However, the main role is played by the patient, who must be motivated and cooperate with the multidisciplinary team. The nutritional therapist sets individual dietary recommendations, taking into account the patient's state of health and current diet and eating habits. The psychologist helps to understand the patient's thoughts by analysing the psychosocial context, lifestyle analysis and habits, thus being able to change the patient's behaviour. Thus, regular nutritional and psychological intervention can lead to a higher success rate of the reduction regime. Aims: The main aim of this study is to determine the association of factors of eating habits with weight change at 1 and 2 years after bariatric surgery. The second aim is to confirm the effect of nutritional...

Senecký, Petr ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Větrovský, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Obesity monitoring in middle aged men in Hradec Kralove Targets: The targets of thesis is to determine prevalence of the obesity in men at age 30 - 50 years in Hradec Kralove. The necessary data for this empirical research will be obtained on the basis of the questionnaires distributed among 30 active athletes and 30 pacients of prof. Martinik's diabetology office, who suffer from obesity and undergo treatment in his office. Subsequently, I will perform a deep analysis of all the data obtained from the questionnaries, in order to identify hazard factors for obesity, stress management, physical aktivity, fixed daily routine and life management or the prevalence of the genetic load in the group of surveyed athletes and surveyed obese patients of prof. Martiník's diabetology office. These data will be then compared in order to identifily the main differences between active athletes and obese patients. Methods: The empirical research was conducted at 30 randomly selected active athletes (at age 30 - 50 years), who live in Hradec Kralove and at 30 random patients (also at age 30 - 50 years) of prof. Martiník, who also live in Hradec Kralove and undergo medical treatment on the basis of the questionnaire, which I created myself and filled personally with the patients and athletes in order to...

Buřičová, Iva ; Di Cara, Veronika (advisor) ; Vaňková, Milena (referee)
According available studies the number of obese people is growing worldwide, we can speak about so called pandemic obesity. Obese patients can be mostly found in hospitals and it is needed to react to this fact in medical and nursing care. Subject of this thesis is nursing process of morbidly obese patient. Thesis is formed into case study, which describes in detail nursing case of patient, who has undergone stomach palsy due to third degree of obesity. All attempts for conservative treatment were tried. Research was done on clinic specialized in obesity treatment. Information for both theoretical and practical section were based on czech and internatinonal literatures and researches. In practical section interview was done with staff of the clinic and patient of the clinic. Goal of the thesis is detailed description of nursing process according functional health models by Margaret Gordon, gathering most important facts in nursing care of obese patient on specialized clinic and suggestion how to use these facts even out of the clinic. By analyzing the nursing process I found out, that nurses of the clinic follow given standards. In discussion chapter I am describing in detail, how the clinic is structured, which tools has the staff to their disposal and what are my suggestion for improving the...
The influence of 3-month exercise program on postural stability in individuals after bariatric surgery
Mašková, Kateřina ; Daďová, Klára (advisor) ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (referee)
Title: The effect of movement program on static postural stability in individuals after bariatric surgery Aims: The aim of this diploma thesis was to find out whether a three-month regular exercise program including strenght and aerobic training has an impact on static postural stability in obese individuals who underwent bariatric surgery. Methodology: The special part was written on the basis of data obtained from posturographic measurement of obese patients who underwent bariatric surgery. The static postural stability was measured using pressure plate a MobileMat from Tekscan. Participants were measured before surgery and approximately 4 months after surgery. A total of 30 subjects aged 31-65 years with BMI values between 35-55 kg/m2 (obesity class II and III) who underwent initial and exit examination including stabilometry, were included in this diploma thesis. They were divided into 2 groups, first group participating in a three-month exercise program (n = 10; age 51 ± 7.3 years; BMI 41.7 ± 6.4 kg/m2 ) and a group undergoing bariatric surgery only (n = 20; age 48 ± 9, 4 years; BMI 43.6 ± 6.5 kg/m2 ). The exercise program included exercise three times a week: once a week one-hour strength training and one-hour aerobic group training, and at least once a week home intervention. Results: In...
The genetic background of obesity and its treatment with bariatric surgery
Lischková, Olga
Obesity is a frequent metabolic disease that causes many other health and socioeconomic complications. Obesity arises due to excessive energy intake and decrease in energy expenditure, which is a conseqence of contemporary lifestyle. Moreover, obesity has a strong genetic component. Common obesity is polygenic, multifactorial disease, in which individual genes interact with each other and with environmental factors. Genome-wide association studies, conducted between 2006-09, led to the discovery of dozens of gene loci that predispose individuals to obesity. The strongest signals were registered for polymorphisms in FTO (fat mass and obesity-associated) and near a gene MC4R (melanocortin 4 receptor). However, the contributions of these variations on the phenotype of obesity are very small, therefore, it is necessary to validate the results of such robust studies. It is very important to uncover the effects of genetic variants for understanding the molecular mechanisms of energy metabolism. The studies presented in this thesis refer about the impact of polymorphisms in selected genes on anthropometric and metabolic parameters of the patients of the Institute of Endocrinology and of healthy volunteers who underwent functional tests. Our cohort includes a representative sample of Czech children (COPAT...

Ondová, Adriána ; Kytnarová, Jitka (advisor) ; Matoulek, Martin (referee)
dětské obezity celosvětově stoupá. Dle studie HBSC, děti z České republiky Slovenska konzumují nadměrné množství slazených nápojů, sladkostí a naopak jedí málo zeleniny a ovoce, nesnídají, mají málo pohybu a tráví dvě a více hodin denně u počítače nebo Teoretická část je věnována příčinám rozvoje obezity v dětském věku, její diagnostice prevenci. Další část je věnována vývoji stravování v ém dětství, pohybové aktivitě doporučeným zdravým stravovacím návykům. praktické části byly použity dotazníky, které byly rozdány ve čtyřech základních školách v České republice (Základní škola Campanus, Praha 4 a Základní škola T.
