Cronicle as a literature genre

The subject of this thesis consists in following the development of the novelistic chronicle genre, which emerges on the common point of a chronicle and a novel at the end of the 19th century. The ground on which the genre is characterised and the survey of its development conducted is the "new chronicle" U nás by Alois Jirásek, "the chronicle of a Moravian village" Rok na vsi by Mrštík brothers and generation chronicle Rozkvět by František Xaver Svoboda. These three novelistic chronicles are connected by the time of their genesis and have several common features, which are associated mainly with their genre determination (the domination of time and place over the characters and the story, the retardation of the time dynamics, being linked to a place and the accent on the poetic of the concrete). However, their authors drew inspiration from different regions (the northeast of Bohemia, the central Bohemia, the borderland of Moravian Slovakia and Haná) and they depicted distinct social backgrounds. The Chronicle of Town Cheb of Pancras Engelhard of Haselbach. Contribution to the historiography of towns in the early Modern Period.

The present thesis deals with city chronicles from the early Modern period with particular focus on the 1560 chronicle of the city of Cheb by Pancras Engelhard of Haselbach which is an important piece of work for the historiographical tradition of the city. The thesis first focuses on literature and other resources related to the topic. Scientific literature is used to define chronicles as genre with emphasis on city chronicles. There is a brief description of the development of chronicles of the Kingdom of Bohemia from the period before the battle of White Mountain and an overview of the history of chronicles of the town of Zhořelec. Another chapter presents the history of the city of Cheb, its economic background and political position within the Kingdom of Bohemia and the Holy Roman Empire. Furthermore, the development of literature of the city of Cheb in the early Modern period is described. A section on the chronicles of the city of Cheb from the period before the battle of White Mountain follows. Particular attention is paid to the manuscript of the chronicle by Pancras Engelhard of Haselbach and to other manuscripts of this chronicle still in existence. Floods in history of Starý Plzenec

This work focuses on the occurrence of historical flood situations on the Vltava, Berounka and Úslava rivers. In case of the Úslava river, the specific hydrometric profile is Pilsen Koterov. The aim is to summarize these flood events, to trace them back in town chronicles and to process data from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute. The completed processing of data from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute has revealed the occurrence of flood situations in this area in particular months and seasons.
The catastrophic flood in the year 1872 and its causes

The work deals with the floods of 25 and 26 May 1872. Its aim is to gather historical mentions of the flood, especially from the chronicles and from the press. From every historical record of the evaluation l will write important information related to the event, eg. the beginning of the storm, weather before the storm, the maximum height reached levels etc. On this basis, I will try to describe the causes of the flood, its flowage and consequences. Ideally I will discover in the records the facts that are still hidden from the professional community. The conclusions they arrive at work, will be compared with studies from the past.
History of education in city Cheb from the late 19th century to the middle of the 20th century

The theme of Bachelor thesis is still uncharted field of education. The thesis is focused on a specific city and time. it is town Cheb in the peridod from late 19th century to the foundation of an independent Czechoslovak republic until the middle of the last century. The first part gives a general outline of the economic and political situation in the Cheb region and the situation based on the need to provide various types of education. Next, the thesis contains an overview of major educational institutions in Cheb.
A Linguistic Analysis of a Baroque Historical Text

The topic of this diploma thesis is a linguistic analysis of a defined part of the first volume of Jan František Beckovský´s baroque chronicle. The theoretical level approaches the life of the author, it summarizes his works and introduces the chronicle called Poselkyně starých příběhů českých I written in 1700 itself. The analysis deals with the phonological and lexical levels of the chronicle in several thematic wholes. Less attention was paid to the morphological and stylistic levels. The syntactic structure of the chronicle was not analysed there. The thesis aims at discussing the basic phonological features of the high Baroque style language and presenting the vocabulary specifics of a historiographical text.

The Personality of Countess Ludmila and Countess Drahomíra in Czech Literature

The Bachelor{\crq}s work deals with picture of St. Ludmila and Drahomíra. About how they are perceived in the ancient works of chroniclers during the development of our literature. We are talking notice of sequences, but also differences in the individual parts. The part of the work is familiar with the period in which Ludmila and Drahomíra lived, also with their deeds and destinies. Their husbands as well as their children played an important role for both women. And according to the legends just Drahomíra{\crq}s son Václav was the reason of their greatest strife, which finally ended by Ludmila{\crq}s death. From the following text we are getting to know that it but not be the only reason. The end of the work is dedicated to the pieces of knowledge of the modern age which try to confirm or to refute the veracity of legends and chronicles. For an overview there is given the filiations of the oldest legends and the family tree of the Přemysl{\crq}s dynasty.
Children's folklore and his influence on the development of child's personality

In this dissertation we are dealing with the current situation of children{\crq}s folklore and with its influence on the development of child's personality. It is based on individual components of public performance and on ethnographical knowledge, which we put into consequence with the problematic of children free-time activities. In that way we offer an insight on the potential of children{\crq}s folklore and its impact on the children{\crq}s personality development. The dissertation is divided into two parts. In the theoretical part, we put the emphasis on the opinions of notable persons of our ethnography and partial disciplines of public performance. It is also based on experiences and opinions of people, who work with children and youth in the areas related to the children{\crq}s folklore. The second part is a practical part. It contents the description of practical activity of children{\crq}s folklore group Šafránek and interviews with its members. To the dissertation belongs an audiovisual attachment.
