The Book-binding Studio and The Course of Book-binding

The aim of my thesis is to open the object was bound at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno. This course focuses on technology bookbinding, where students learn the handheld and industrial-bound books, book binding materials, tools and medium paper and overlapping into graphic design. The subject will be taught practical and theoretical form. The project also includes a textbook for students of the subject, arranging workshop and its equipment, which will take place subject. At the same time, it is envisaged that it would subject Bookbinding in the future I taught and cared for the running of the workshop.

A Personal Stamp on Paper Products

In this bachelor’s thesis I am mainly concerned with creating of my own paper-making trade mark under the label of Papíři. It is intended as a small scale experimental stationery as an alternative to common paper production. In the field of book binding I strive for innovation in different types of binding. With respect to maintain the high quality level of products, I prefer the handmade style and a small number of copies made of good materials with the use of my own binding techniques. The part of my bachelor thesis is also devoted to designing of visual style of Papíři label, logotype, website layout with online store, examples of products and proposal of promotion channels.

Metodika správného postupu při popisu knižní vazby českého původu a její slepotiskové výzdoby

Metodika stanovuje na konkrétních příkladech historických vazeb pravidla, jak správně postupovat při odborném popisu slepotiskové výzdoby historických vazeb českého původu ze 16. století. Uživatele názorně povede v tvorbě správného popisu knižní vazby a určení jejího typu, dále mu pomůže při identifikaci užitých materiálů a zvoleného typu kompozičního schématu vyplněného otisky nářadí. Důraz bude kladen na unifikovanou terminologii a ikonografii popisu motivů slepotiskového nářadí. Samostatná pozornost bude navíc věnovaná způsobům dokumentace slepotiskové výzdoby vazeb. V neposlední řadě bude důraz kladen na unifikovanou terminologii.

Author's book on the theme of water

This thesis deals with an author's book. The thesis describes sorts of artistically made books and a development of the author's book. It has also the intention to present several Czech and foreign authors whose creation is related to the author's book. The author researches, which artists work with a topic of water and nature in their author's books. She is concerned with various types of visual expression of water in wide area of fine art in 20th and 21st century. The author also dealt with the topic of water in her own author's book called Otava. Illustrations show specific features of this river and also the general features of water. Apart from that, the author points out the life of people and animals around the river. A didactic project is made up of tasks, which should lead pupils to look at water in an artistic, social and environmental context.

Lesser Town of Prague Gradual

My thesis will deal with monographic analysis of so-called Malostranský Gradual. Above all, its painting decorations and iconography. Furthermore, the description of the book binding, book block and set in the cultural and historical context. Gradual dates from 1572 and contains a number of illuminations, among them illustration with burn of Mistr Jan Hus.

The main objective of my bachelor's thesis is to introduce the history of books as bearers of all knowledge of our ancestors, whom by using such tool hoped to preserve their wisdom to their ofsprings. The point was not only to bring the technical knowledge to ease the life of the future generations, but also to pass on the spiritual substance such as the ideas of the great philosophers of old Greece or later eras. One of the objectives is to provide an insight of books' history from the times of our ancestors till now even to a lay person. After all, every avid reader at one point starts to wonder, when perhaps was the first book 'born' and who was the person bringing it to life. Whether it was an educated man or just an ordinary individual who put together few written pages. The question also is, what is the future holding for books? The typical book, as we know it, is slowly being taken over by the phenomena of an electronic book. However, such a book can hardly compete with a classical book freshly smelling with ink. A book is not only made of its contents, but it is also a form of art. This fact was especially correct during the Middle Ages when the books were results of work of several craftsmen and artists.
