Christology in the Encyclicals by John Paul II, 1979 -1990

The thesis deals with the encyclicals of John Paul II. written between years 1979 and 1990 and with the Christological titles the King, the Prophet and the Priest contained in them. These three titles are described as offices and services. The thesis connects the teaching of the Second Vatican Council and the view of John Paul II. on this issue and Christian practice. It contains an introduction to the issue of the given Christological titles. It provides an introduction to the teaching of the Catholic Church, which is linked to the titles. It also describes in which encyclicals there are mentions of the King, the Prophet and the Priest. Subsequently, these encyclicals are examined individually to provide the best possible understanding of the three titles and their practical impact on life.

My work deal with V. Sysel'life, a religious personage and his place of aktivity in Klatovy region. In the first part there is the time of his childhood, adolescence and a study life described. In the second part-his decision for a priestly service, then a forced deployment for Nacist Empire, the completion of studies in theology and a ceremony of consecration, In the third-he was arrested, convicted and imprisoned in a jail in Mírov. I describe the time of the civilian employment in the fourth part of my work. The last part is about Vladislav return to the spiritual services in the vicariate of Klatovy region. Throughout the work there is an effort to show the exceptional personality of the priest V. Sysel.

The diversity of personality and forms of spirituality in the priesthood Every priest, who received the serving, sacramental priesthood, should try to be another Christ. Nevertheless, each person is an original however, and his behavior is influenced by inherited characteristics, congenital conditions, and different life stories. During my studies of theology, I tried to explain the differences related to the priests I followed, by their different attitude toward Christ and his church. During my studies, I also started to perceive the importance of the priest's attitude toward the humanity of Christ. The connexion to the orthodoxy has always attraced me. While I was writing my thesis, I tried to find the answer to the differencies in the diversity, which, for many people within the church, is a problem to settle with, or to justify. So, the thesis is dedicated to the research of the personalities of the priests, to their own attitude, their own spirituality, and its influence on people. I would like this thesis to help to make people understand that we can all reach the same Destination by using more possible ways, which depend on our humanity and our nature. I am convinced that just the good spirituality is something which respects the diversity and the unrepeatability of the particular ways. Key...

This diploma thesis is dealing with life and professional destiny of Jaroslav Kadlec. It arose from the research of reference books and historical sources archived in the State District Archives in České Budějovice and State Regional Archives in Třeboň. Memories of his close friend Msgre. Václav Kulhánek are integral to the thesis. This thesis begins with the look at the historical period, the development and status of the Catholic Church in the context of Czechoslovakia. It briefly acquaints us with the life of Jaroslav Kadlec, his choice to become a priest, his religious and teaching career. Then this thesis clarifies his life difficulties connected to communist persecution. The next part of this thesis is focused on his personal life and his studies, both of which are closely related to the city of České Budějovice. He spent a considerable part of his life there, whether as a student of the Gymnasium of J. V. Jirsík or later taking part in the Episcopal theological seminar, there also as a pedagogue. He was returning to České Budějovice not only in his memories but through his scientific work as well.

The third part of the thesis is focused on his writing, public and pedagogical activities. The thesis is based on following sources: State Regional Archives in Třeboň, State District Archives in Písek, Strakonice and České Budějovice, literature and internet links as well as on so far not published documents of personal character.

The dissertation thesis deals with the life of the catholic priest, scientist in a discipline of the Christian sociology and a politics ThDr. Francis Reyl (1865-1935). Life stories, important positions which he held, his work and events that touched him, are presented in chronological order, as they occupied Reyl's life. The first part briefly outlines the historical situation of the Catholic Church in the Czech Republic and in Europe at the time of Reyl's life in the 19th and 20th centuries. The following section describes his fates from childhood through secondary school studies (including a stay in a church students' seminary Borromaeum) and the priests' seminary formation up to his ordination. The third part deals with Reyl's activities in the 19th and 20th centuries, when he was a director of the students' seminar Borromaeum and rector of the priests' seminary. In addition, he had published a lot and devoted himself to public life and established policy, which is included in this thesis also. The fourth and last part focuses on Reyl's fates and work during The First Czechoslovak Republic, when he was a senator in the National Assembly of the Czechoslovak Republic and devoted himself mainly to politics.
