THE INFLUENCE OF STRETCHING EXERCISES ON THE RANGE OF JOINT FLEXIBILITY IN STUDENTS AT JAN EVANGELISTA PURKYNĚ UNIVERSITY IN ÚSTÍ NAD LABEM The dissertation evaluates the influence of stretching exercises on the range of joint flexibility in students of the study programme Physical Education and Sport at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. In total, 128 students aged 21 - 25 (78 women, 50 men) enrolled in the subject Basic Gymnastics took part in the experiment, conducted in the period from February to May of the academic year 2008/2009. Of these, 59 students were excluded by a physiotherapist - i.e. hypermobile men and hypermobile women as well as women with normal flexibility (excluded purposefully) subject to the results of the Thomayer test. In total, data from 39 men and 30 women were used. From April 2009, over a period of six weeks (before the end of the summer term tuition), an intervention flexibility programme including the Anderson static stretching method and the PNF stretching method by Sölveborn were applied for the research file. To evaluate the level of joint flexibility, the Sit and Reach Test and credit exercise to estimate joint flexibility were used. In a controlled interview, out-of-school activities were analysed, which contained stretching exercises with a...

Rozkovcová, Eunika ; Krištofič, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Doležalová, Kateřina (referee)
Title: The impact of the intervention program on flexibility in school youth Objectives: The aim of this study is to assess the impact of the intervention program on flexibility carried out at 2 separate groups of female youngsters of 7th grade of elementary school. The Intervention program was identical to the evaluation test battery consisting of 6 motor tests, 4 standardized and 2 non-standardized. For standardized test we compared the results to the results of general population. Methods: In order to obtain data on the level of joint mobility of the test group, motor tests focused on the diagnosis of flexibility were used. The first measuring took place in January, the second after 5 months in June. Two groups of 7th grade girls were tested. One of the groups consisted of girls with studying focus in the musical art the second group had no specific studying focus. Six motor tests were used: Lasegue test, Thomayer test, shoulder girdle muscle test, Zitek test, gymnastics split and bridge. After the first measurement, the experimental group was determined by the worse measured values which had the intervention program included in physical education lessons twice in one lesson while the control group only once. Results: In Results after following the intervention program were as follows, more than...

Title: Progress flexibility lower limbs in rhythmic gymnastics Objectives: The objective of this work is to determine the effectiveness of exercises for the development of flexibility of the lower limbs in modern gymnastics. Designed exercises were practiced 2-3 times a week. As it is a modern gymnastics, girls aged 5-7 were tested. This is because this sport starts in early age and flexibility is the key ability in performance evaluation. The objective was to find out which exercises that were designed were effective. That is, whether the girls have improved over the six months or not. Four measurements were realized, every two months. The first measurement was realized before the start of the exercise, the other two during the training period and the fourth was after 6 months, which was the final measurement. Methods: Four measurments were realized. First before the start of the training mobility plan and then every two months. From the results I calculated the improvement of girls between each measurement and finally also between the first and last measurement. I calculated average values of girls and average values of improvement. I used the field testing methods. Results: In my research I found that girls improved on average over six months. Furthermore, their extent has gradually improved....

Title: The relationship of flexibility and movement in gymnastic sports Aims: The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate the importance of flexibility in relation to performance in gymnastic sports - artistic gymnastics, modern gymnastics, trampoline and sport aerobics. Also, said thesis focuses on attributes related to the range of motion in joint connections from the point of aesthetic criteria, the efficient movement technique, and also from the point of medical prevention. Methods: This task is non-experimental, based on the guided interview with different trainers of four gymnastic sports. The personal interviews were led my myself as well as preparing the query. Descriptive statistics are used to sort and analyzed the data obtained and the thesis illustrates the outcomes accordingly. The theoretical part has character of a summarizing study, which comes out of accessible materials research. The purpose is to collect pieces of information, subsequently organize them and interpret them by the form of recommendations in relation to flexibility development issue in gymnastics sports. Results: The results of the thesis are presented in a form of generally valid rules and recommendations in relation to the flexibility development issue overlapping to gymnastics sports. Such as showing how...

A B S T R A C T T I T L E The Impact of physical activities in water on joints movements of seniors. O B J E C T I V E The evaluation of the impact of physical activities in water on joint movements of elderly people. From the data available which measures the movements of shoulder and hip joints at the beginning, in the middle and after the training session, we identify whether there are some changes in the range of movements available of the tested joints. M E T H O D The efficiency of swimming program whose duration was 15 weeks was evaluation by measuring the improvement of movements possible of shoulder and hip joints. There were two groups of elderly people tested. The first group consisted of university students taking courses for elderly people, the latter group consisted of elderly volunteers. Both programmes had the same content. R E S U LT S After the swimming program finished, there were measurable changes in the range of joint movements all participants could perform. In majority of cases these changes were positive (i.e enlargement of the range available), in some case the rotation of the joint in certain movements remained same but there were some elderly people whose range of joint movements was reduced. Overall, the range enlargement was estimated to be higher by 5 - 10ř. K E Y W O R D S...

Impact of swimming on the motor system of professional swimmers
DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Tereza
My Bachelor Dissertation focused on the topic ``Impact of swimming on the motor system of professional swimmers{\crq}q is divided into two parts {--} theoretical part and research part. The theoretical part describes not only the history of swimming, development of swimming methods and impact of swimming on human organism, but also according to what parameters it is possible to identify future top swimmers, how to avoid damage to the motor system caused by swimming, why the joint motility is so important and how stretching can help in this context. The aim of this Bachelor Dissertation is to find out whether stretching has an impact on the motor system of professional swimmers. In the research part I tried to achieve this objective. The research was carried out in a qualitative manner with the help of such techniques as anamnesis, observation (kinesiology examination), on two swimmers who had physical difficulties. The therapy was held for seven weeks during which I focused not only on the stretching of shortened muscles but also on reinforcement of weakened muscles and drilling of movement stereotypes. The first patient had pains of the left shoulder joint and the other one had pains of the lumbar area of his back, of the right iliac joint and buttocks. Both the patients cooperated well and thanks to the therapy it was possible to improve stretching of shortened muscles, advanced head posture, asymmetry of the left and right parts of the body, breath wave, and muscle force increased. Physical difficulties of swimmers were mitigated, but much more time would be necessary for their complete removal. It implies from the results of the research that stretching has a positive influence on the motor system of professional swimmers but for achievement of better results it should be connected with the reinforcement of weakened muscles as well.
