Legal regulation of wild animal protection
Křížová, Barbora ; Fabšíková, Tereza (referee)
Legal Regulation of Wild Animal Protection Abstract The dissertation deals with the protection of wild animals and its legal regulation. Wild animals are protected within the biodiversity protection and nature and landscape conservation, which can be divided into territorial and species protection, while the dissertation focuses mainly on the species one. In addition to the explanation of basic terms, the dissertation consists of three main parts, which focus on the international, European Union and Czech legal regulation. The first part on the international law analyzes the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals and the Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats. The next part on the European Union law mentions pertinent conceptual tools and subsequently the relevant directives and regulations. These include, above all, the Birds Directive, the Habitats Directive, the Zoos Directive, the Regulation on the Protection of Species of Wild Fauna and Flora by Regulating Trade Therein, and the Regulation on Invasive Alien Species. The third main part pays attention to the Czech legal regulation. First, representative conceptual...
Legal regulation of the protection of plants and animals
Becková, Kateřina ; Stejskal, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Franková, Martina (referee)
The subject of my thesis is the regulation of wild fauna and flora protection. Given that the planet's biodiversity is threatened and there is a significant decline of the number of wild flora and fauna species, I consider an adequate regulation in this area the precondition for slowing down or halting this decline and restoring the wild fauna and flora populations. I chose this topic with the aim to show how the legislation provides for the protection of wild fauna and flora species on different levels, and in order to show in how far the regulations are sufficient. Considering the significant negative impact of invasive alien fauna and flora species on native species and the whole ecosystem, I am focusing in every chapter on these invasive species with the aim of pointing out the shortcomings regarding the regulations in this area. The question of regulation of the protection of wild fauna and flora is examined from a general perspective, the perspective of international law, the perspective of European Union law, as well as from the perspective of Czech and French law, focusing on the sources of legislation, guidelines, organizations and subjects, tools and responsibilities. This thesis comprises six chapters. Chapter One is introductory and focuses on the loss of biodiversity and causes of this...
Invasive water invertebrates in Czech Republic
Kolářová, Lucie ; Tátosová, Jolana (advisor) ; Dočkalová, Kateřina (referee)
An introduction of invasive species is considered to be one of the most actual problems of these days and is also related with water environment and water invertebrates. Occurences of many non-native species has been recorded in waters of the Czech Republic and these species can be divided into two groups. Species of the first group are invasive alien species - their ecological patterns (e.g. high growing rates, high reproductive capacity or ability to transfer exotic diseases) make their spreading more successful. North-American crayfish species (Orconectes limosus and Pacifastacus leniusculus), Dreissena polymorpha or Dikerogammarus villosus are the typical representatives of this group. The spreading of these species is very remarkable, since their introduction causes many harmful effects and has negative impacts on native fauna. However, the appearance of other group of water invertebrates has been found in our waters. These are also non-indigenous species, but their spreading is very inconspicuous - they do not reach high population densities and their invasion does not cause negative impacts on native fauna and ecosystems. The evidence of these harmless invasive species has been recorded thanks to the monitoring programs and we possibly wouldn't know about them without this monitoring. The...
