Winzbergerová, Alžběta ; Háva, Petr (advisor) ; Tušková, Eva (referee)
This thesis is a case study focused on a relationship between public policy to prevent childhood obesity and the role of the food production and marketing in the Czech Republic. The emphasis is especially given to the institutional framework of food marketed and produced for children and its social concequences, because childhood obesity is one of them. The results from the analysis are then confronted with views and opinions of children and their parents, with how they feel about food advertising. Conclusion: advertising and production of food designated for children is not regulated in the Czech Republic. On governmental level only basic standards and rules are given and self-regulation is given precedence. Parents are aware of the huge influence of advertising on their children and that is why they are not satistied with the current situation. They would appreciate stronger legislative regulation of marketing and production of food for children.
The Institutional Analysis of Banking Reforms in Vietnam
Nguyen Quang, Dung ; Mertlík, Pavel (advisor) ; Levely, Ian Vandemark (referee)
The main goals of the bachelor thesis is an institutional analysis of the banking reform in Vietnam. The author analyzes how the banking reform influences the institutional development. Modern institutions require flexible and efficient rules, both formal and informal. Hence, a legal framework is analyzed as well especially as to whether the de jure banking legal framework corresponds with the de facto one. Liberalization and internationalization of Vietnamese economy has a big impact on the development of the banking sector. Albeit institutions are de jure well developed they are not sufficiently efficient due to the inability of enforcement of laws, lack of confidence, and corruption in the banking sec- tor. Vietnam has chosen the right direction but the establishment of efficient institutions has to go hand-in-hand with the change of informal rules. Since the diffusion of information is limited due to lack of codification of laws, connections relationship and informal rules play a crucial role in the banking sector. Infor- mal rules are deeply entrenched and tenacious, and hence difficult to change in the short time. 1
Impact of Institutional Setting on Current Creation of Environmental Strategies in Cities of the Czech Republic
Dubová, Lenka ; Vojáček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Matula, Miloš (referee)
Urban areas play important role in relation to potential risks and impacts of climate change. Adaptation experience is accumulating in the public and private sector across the world. This diploma thesis evaluates current creation of adaptation strategies in cities of the Czech Republic with the use of institutional analysis by the IAD framework. The aim of the thesis is to identify the most common constraints on the adaptation strategies making process and to suggest possible solutions. Data collection method is based on in-depth interviews with stakeholders in the cities of Pilsen, Prague and Brno. Identified constraints include lack of policy support, different level of experiences with creation of conceptual documents and problem with funds for adaptation action. As a solution deepen partnership between self-government and non-profit institutions and deepen cooperation between politics and civil servants with focus on information exchange is needed. In addition conceptual characterization of problems in cities together with their identification, which can helps to obtain funding for implementation of adaptation actions (e.g. through the LIFE programme) is recommended.

Kratochvíl, Martin ; Louda, Jiří (advisor) ; Osersová, Marta (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze and calculate the economic value of selected ecosystem services in the Eastern Ore Mountains and then analyze together with quantitative research, which was held simultaneously with the data collection survey. Selected ecosystems are typical for the Eastern Ore Mountains and provide recreational and aesthetic function. Contingent valuation method and method of choice experiment are used to calculate the economic value. The analysis of qualitative research is carried out by institutional analysis. Contingent valuation method is used to determine the willingness to pay for preserving the aesthetic function of mountain meadows in the Eastern Ore Mountains. Quantifying the economic value together with qualitative research may help to define tools for maintenance management of ecosystems that help to protect, maintain or restore ecosystem. Some methods of evaluation of environmental goods and institutional analysis are described in the theoretical section. The practical part is focused on the results of a questionnaire survey with a qualitative interpretation of the results.
Institutional Analysis and Application of Community Property Approach on Macha Lake
Bezuchová, Helena ; Vojáček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Slavík, Jan (referee)
Water eutrophication is a major problem of pollution of water resources, which is caused by excessive nutrient inputs to the water. This study deals with the organization of institutions around the water source as possible cause of the decreasing status of water quality. The method of institutional analysis IAD framework examines the control, disposition and execution of the actors' rights in the Macha Lake in regard to the possible application of community ownership approach. The applied method shows that the administration of the Macha Lake is fragmented into many stages, where each individual has limited powers that are in the approval process depending on other actors. However, here we encounter a major moral attitude of the local community. Further analysis finds that any made efforts to improve the quality of the water are only focused in the treatment of the water of the lake and not in the correction and 6 more regulation of his sources. The cause of the eutrophication and subsequent steps must be performed at the level of the entire watershed, not just locally.
Analysis of the current institutional adjusment of liability for economic damages caused by wild boar in the Czech Republic since 2000
Hekrle, Marek ; Louda, Jiří (advisor) ; Řežábek, Pavel (referee)
Growing populations of wild pigs are causing economic damage, societal risk and the risk of spreading infectious diseases. Czech Wildlife Management defines a wild boar as a renewable natural resource not owned by specific subject and sets hunter's liability for economic damage caused by it. For the purpose of the work was prepared questionnaires addressed to the farming agricultural subjects and representatives of hunter's association in the Czech republic. The author confirmed his hypothesis that the current institutional game management of wild boars leads only to a limited negotiation between hunters and farmers due to bad enforcement of economic damages. Thesis proves, that in most cases economic damagesare not enforced by farming subject. Hunters are in the position of free riders participating in the unwillingness and lack of incentives for farmers to enforce economic damages or to enforce non-equivalent to the amount of damages. It shows that the current institutional adjustment does not support the principle of personal liability and motivation, and does not optimize populations of wild boar and thereby reduce the economic damage.
Global economic recession on trhe market for secondary raw materials and its solutions with the view of institutional analysis
Osersová, Marta ; Slavík, Jan (advisor) ; Šeflová, Jitka (referee)
At the end of 2008, the sector of secondary raw materials, as well as a major part of other sectors of economy, has been hit by a global economical recession. In comparison with usual incidences as sales, employment or payment problems, the recession had here, nevertheless, one specificity -- impact upon environment. The secondary raw materials are used to be employed by the manufacturers to the production of goods provided their price is lower than this of primary commodities. However, in the said period, consumer demand and production decreased, and in this consequence also prices of primary raw materials diminished heavily. Thereby the market of secondary raw materials practically stopped. But it was not possible to stop also their production, because recycling, process of secondary raw materials manufacture, is compulsory in the EU countries. Due to this situation, fears on the collapse of the whole system of waste separation occurred, but also different proposals for solutions of this problem appeared. Although the situation on the market for secondary raw materials in the latest months starts to be stabilized, this problem is always actual and that's why it became also theme of this dissertation. Thus, this diploma paper's objective is to make an attempt to characterize the current situation in the market for secondary raw materials with the exploitation of the institutional analysis and, subsequently, to examine its changes evoked by the introduction of the "anti-crisis" measures. The practical part of these theses is based on the application of the method developed by proprietress of the Nobel Prize for economy for 2009, Elinor Ostrom, and her colleagues at Indiana University, so-called IAD Framework -- Institutional Analysis and Development Framework. This selected research method is relatively unknown in our place and so a quite new and authentic view at this whole matter can be therefore expected.

Fildán, Radim ; Slavík, Jan (advisor) ; Vejchodská, Eliška (referee)
In my thesis I am dealing with problem of predation of great cormorant on fishery supplies in the Czech Republic. In the first part I explain the problem, describe historical development and current status. I also mention situation in other EU countries, which does have some characteristics similar with the Czech Republic. In the end of the first part I will quantify damage caused by cormorant and I will show how this damage could be estimated. In the second part I am applying scheme of institutional analysis called Institutional Analysis and Development. Firstly I will explain this scheme and then I will apply it on the problem of great cormorant in the Czech Republic. Aim of my thesis is to find a recommendation how organizations and institutions should be set in order to help to resolve this issue.
