Historical development of steel manufacturing processes from the Middle Ages

This thesis was written during my bachelor studies of mechanical technology at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Brno. The topic was processed on the basis of professional literature and accessible web servers, which deal with the linear analysis of steel production principles since the Middle Ages and with theis sues of steel reduction and oxidation processes. Contemporary modern steel fabrication procedures are based on simile principles to those which have been used fort hefabrication of steel since thediscovery of iron.

To familiarize readers with the basic materials that are necessary for production of iron and history of procedurs that were and are important for the quality of the material . Another aim is to describe the basic furnaces and forges, which were used during this time and are still used.

Workers'and Trade Union Press in the Kladno Region in the Interwar Period

This master's thesis addresses the functioning of the workers' press in Kladno District during the interwar period (1918-1938). The theoretical part describes early days of mining and metallurgical industry in this region with a special attention being paid to the development of the Pražská železářská společnost and Poldina huť. Furthermore, this chapter outlines the growth of the town Kladno and its national composition until the end of the researched period. The chapter continues with providing a detailed description of work and private lives of Kladno workmen during the First Czechoslovak Republic. Trade unions and changes in legislation are discussed as they directly impacted the key professions in Kladno District - miners and steelworkers. Finally, the last section of the theoretical part is dedicated to the beginnings of the workers' press in the region, namely the paper Svoboda which played an essential role in this area. The practical part studies five titles from Kladno District, for which the local workmen constituted the target audience. Dělnické listy, Stráž svobody, Naše hory hutě - Horník, Strojník a topič, and Poldi Nachrichten were chosen as they represented various groups of publishers (political parties, trade unions, or organizations). Vojtech Lanna: Image of Enterpriser in First Phase of Instrustry Revolution

This Thesis is a contribution to the research of Entrepreneurship and its impact on process of historical change. The paper focuses on life and career of the South Bohemian Entrepreneur, Industrialist and Patron Vojtěch (Adalbert) Lanna. By examining his life it is possible to explore wider social processes leading to fundamental social change, based on switching from feudal to modern arrangement of state and society. Vojtěch Lanna begins his career, like many of his ancestors, as a salt carrier. Later he manages to run his own business, based on river transportation and water engineering, which allowes him to accumulate enough capital to enter other industrial sectors. During his later life he participates on to the construction of railways, later he focuses on coal mining. His biggest achievements is building of modern ironworks named Vojtěšská huť. Throughout his life he runs many other business that are related to his main lifelong activities. He is also known for his charity and a humane approach. He supports education, music and art. His life and his business activities is a reflection of the economic development of the first half and the beginning of the second half of 19th century.
