Práce je příspěvkem ke studiu podnikatelstva a jeho dějin. Zaměřuje se na zmapování života jihočeského podnikatele, průmyslníka a mecenáše Vojtěcha (Adalberta) Lanny. Skrze jeho život nahlíží širší společenské procesy, vedoucí k přechodu od feudálního uspořádání k modernímu kapitalistickému státu. Vojtěch Lanna začíná, stejně jako řada jeho předků, jako dopravce soli. Postupně se dopracuje k samostatnému podnikání v přepravě a vodním stavitelství, díky čemuž se mu podaří akumulovat dostatečný kapitál pro vstup do dalších rozvíjejících se odvětví. Během svého života se věnuje stavbě železnic, podnikání ve stavebnictví, později se zaměří na uhelnou těžbu. Jeho pravděpodobně největším podnikatelským dílem je vybudování moderních železáren, nazvaných podle zakladatele Vojtěšská huť. Vedle působení v těchto průmyslových oborech zakládá vlastní podniky, které doplňují jeho aktivity v říční dopravě, které se věnuje téměř po celý život. Vedle podnikatelské činnosti je rovněž znám svou dobročinností a lidským přístupem. Podporuje vzdělání, zajímá se o hudbu a umění. Lannův život a jeho podnikatelské aktivity jsou odrazem hospodářského rozvoje první poloviny a počátku druhé poloviny 19. století. This Thesis is a contribution to the research of Entrepreneurship and its impact on process of historical change. The paper focuses on life and career of the South Bohemian Entrepreneur, Industrialist and Patron Vojtěch (Adalbert) Lanna. By examining his life it is possible to explore wider social processes leading to fundamental social change, based on switching from feudal to modern arrangement of state and society. Vojtěch Lanna begins his career, like many of his ancestors, as a salt carrier. Later he manages to run his own business, based on river transportation and water engineering, which allowes him to accumulate enough capital to enter other industrial sectors. During his later life he participates on to the construction of railways, later he focuses on coal mining. His biggest achievements is building of modern ironworks named Vojtěšská huť. Throughout his life he runs many other business that are related to his main lifelong activities. He is also known for his charity and a humane approach. He supports education, music and art. His life and his business activities is a reflection of the economic development of the first half and the beginning of the second half of 19th century.
