The Bachelor Thesis The chateau Český Rudolec - building history and arts-historical context summarizes the basic information related to the chateau itself, but also to its close surroundings, with a focus on the last reconstruction into neogothic form and on the prospective owner Michael Angelo Picchioni. The chateau is then set in the context of similar 19th-century historicist buildings.
Neo-Gothic rebuilding of Castle Hluboká nad Vltavou

Diploma thesis "Neo-Gothic rebuilding of chateau Hluboká nad Vltavou" first provides a brief summary of basic literary and archival sources, followed by description of terminology in the field of 19th century architecture together with the explanation used by the author. After that there is mentioned a situation in Czech architecture at the end of 18th and in the 19th century. Next point is the Gothic Revival phenomenon - its establishment, ways of its spreading and its influence in middle Europe including Czech countries. Own topic of this thesis is introduced by a general and building history of chateau Hluboká nad Vltavou. After that there are introduced prince Jan Adolf II. of Schwarzenberg and his wife, who managed the rebuilding of the chateau. There is also a description of their personal contacts with British culture and architecture. Main part of the thesis is dedicated to Neo-Gothic rebuilding of chateau Hluboká nad Vltavou. This chapter is divided into several subchapters, where are described changes in the chateau interior and exterior including the effort of document the direct influence of Gothic Revival, and also the adaptation of the close surroundings of the chateau. František Mikš and his sacral architectonic works

The aim of my diploma thesis was to deal with person Frantisek Miks and to define, identify, get to know and make art-historical critique of his sacral architectonical work. This person wasn't study in detail never before, so I had to do research in archives: Prague City Archives, National Archives, Regional Archives in Prague, Kolin and Beroun, Archive of Prague Institute of Planning and Development, Monument of National Literature, Podlipanske Museum in Cesky Brod, etc. I found interesting information and iconography materials in periodicals: Architektonicky obzor, Technicky obzor, Stavitelske listy, Zlata Praha, etc. I discovered considerable amount of documents and architectonical plans of Miks's projects. Text of this diploma thesis is divided in twelve chapters including the introduction and the conclusion. After the introduction there is biographical chapter and nine chapters about nine sacral architectonical monuments, which are connected with F. Miks. They include brief history, details of genesis buildings and analysis of Miks's architectonical plans with their art-historical critiques. Hluboká Castle in 19. Century and Johann Adolf zu Schwarzenberg

The thesis deals with historicism in architecture using the example of Prince Johann Adolf zu Schwarzenberg and Hluboká (Frauenberg) Castle, which Schwarzenberg rebuilt. The thesis also focuses on Prince's journeys through the British Isles, where the so called Gothic Revival arose and where Schwarzenberg took a look at many buildings influenced by this phenomenon. The next chapter is concerned with the reconstruction of Hluboká Castle inspired by romantic historicism, which began shortly after Prince's return from the second journey and which created from the castle one of the most majestic family seats of nobility in the Habsburg Monarchy. The study deals with the conception of the castle as a "family museum", symbolism that can be seen in this "museum", other building projects influenced by Schwarzenberg's Hluboká and the relation between early capitalism and historicism in connection with Johann Adolf's entrepreneurial activities, too. It is also one of the tasks to describe all these facts in the broader context of the 19th century, whose circumstances caused the development of romanticism and historicism.
