Thermal convection in Czech Republic and its using by sport pilots
Ožana, Martin ; Hudec,, František (referee) ; Krška,, Karel (advisor)
This thesis provides a brief overview of ascending airflow typology in the Czech Republic, in particular the occurrence and prediction of thermical convection. Since gliders are usually towed by motor aicraft, it also includes summary of knowledge, that should be known by towing aircraft pilot.
Aerodynamic analysis of morphing geometry application to sailplane winglet design
Gliders in Today's Aviation
Schoř, Pavel ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Šošovička, Róbert (advisor)
The introduction of this bachelor`s thesis deals with a brief history of gliders. Second chapter explains basic principles of unpowered aircraft flight, including the principle, how an unpowered glider can climb. Commonly used take-off methods are also mentioned. In all chapters, the examples are explained on Standard Cirrus glider, because it is very widespread in Czech Republic and is financially well affordable. Third chapter describes natural principles, which are used by glider pilots to gain an altitude. An extra attention is paid to gaining an altitude in thermals. In fourth chapter, the gliders are divided according to their purpose and sporting category. Short description of glider construction is mentioned, including a description of instruments, which are necessary for a cross country flight. The description of cross country flight is mentioned at end of this chapter. Last chapter compares Standard Cirrus glider with SZD 56-2, which is one of the today`s best 15m gliders. The main purpose is to illustrate the progress in glider designing, which was achieved during last 40 years, in the light of previous chapters.
Wing design of the gliders
Löffelmann, František ; Weis, Martin (referee) ; Jebáček, Ivo (advisor)
Thesis treats influences of geometrical characteristics on aerodynamic wing properties generally meaning, wing construction load and describes typical wing design. Next there are introduced basic requirements on gliders, according to regulation CS-22. Consequently there are described composite structures and there is sketched their design. There are described wings of two different present high-performance sail-planes (Schleicher ASW 22, SZD56-2 Diana-2). Finally there are compared modern gliders, their performances and on this basic there are compared performances of 15-metre Class and 18-metre Class.
Advanced conception of school gliders
Šponer, Jan ; Zablatzký, Jiří (referee) ; Weis, Martin (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis offers a view of flight regimes of school glider and the demands placed on it. These demands depend on requirements of the training plan, aero clubs, instructors and students themselves. You will find a selection of gliders for training used in the Czech Republic and Czechoslovakia from 1950 and evaluation of positive and negative properties of these gliders. Further on, it is outlined how the best glider for training new pilots should look like.
History of civil avaition from beginning till the end of 1918
Soukop, Robin ; Daněk, Vladimír (referee) ; Chlebek, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor thesis contains whole review of the civil aviation history from the first steps and early attempts at fly till year 1918 when flying became a common part of lifes and show of human advanced as well. Attention is paid to all relevant events of the aviation history from the first kites till the fly of the Wright brothers. As well like the events this thesis resumes all persones who influenced the aviation most with their lifes and particular contribution included.
Design of winglet for LS-3 glider
Koutník, Tomáš ; Šošovička, Róbert (referee) ; Popela, Robert (advisor)
This diploma thesis describes the design of winglets for LS-3 glider. The method for determination of main winglet parameters based on selected criterion is presented as well as comparation of performace of original wing and final modification. It also includes analysis of wing loading and resetting of speed and weight limits for flying with winglets.
Design for building an electric drive into a Orlican VSO-10 Gradient glider
Vančo, Miroslav ; Juračka, Jaroslav (referee) ; Sklenář, Filip (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the design of building electric propulsion (FES) into an Orličan VSO-10 Gradient glider. The introduction is focused on problem statement with main challenges of building electric propulsion into gliders. The research section is devoted to current situation on the market of gliders with overview of the propulsion systems and their basic parameters. The most appropriate configuration of the propulsion system is selected, based on performance calculations, regulations, and requirements. For final configuration, installation into the glider construction is designed, with respect to actual regulations. In the last part, cost of propulsion and installation is calculated.
Unconventional wing fuselage junction for glider and its influence on performance
Štarha, Adam ; Juračka, Jaroslav (referee) ; Popela, Robert (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the issue of glider performace improvement by reduction of interference drag. There are described current aerodynamic and structural designs in this work, to which two new aerodynamic designs were created. Results of computational fluid dynamics were compared to the results of the comparative model.
Automatic Maneuver Identification from Flight Data Records
Mořkovský, Vít ; Vlk, Jan (referee) ; Chudý, Peter (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis in the identification of maneuvers from flight data records. The flight with identified maneuvers is displayed in the space over a map base using the created web application. Initially, a set of rules to identify respective maneuvers was created. After that, the identification of maneuvers was implemented using the technique of cluster analysis (K-means) and a classification technique based on the Hidden Markov Model. The maneuvers identified using the Hidden Markov Model correspond to maneuvers identified using rules in 95.6 %.
