Leopold I. in the light of Czech funeral sermons from 1705
MIŠTOVÁ, Marie
The presented bachelor thesis deals with the view of Emperor Leopold I. in the funeral sermons composed in his honour in 1705. The main aim is to present the associations connected with the emperor's personality on the basis of the funeral orations written in Czech. In addition to introducing specific figures and objects to which the emperor was compared, the present work also presents the life story of the late monarch. The thesis also introduces the concept of the perception of death in the early modern period.
Participation of Children at the Funeral

The thesis deals with the topic of children's participation at funerals from younger school age to adolescence and examines the significance of personal participation or non-participation in funerals of close persons. In the theoretical part, it describes the importance of funerals from various points of view and describes ecclesiastical and secular funeral rites. It focuses attention on the psychological perception of death and burial in children of defined age categories, on interviews and on the moral and ethical point of view. He comments on the rituals of children. In the practical part, the empirical research reveals the lived experience of the respondents, from which we have the opportunity to find out the significance of personal participation or non-participation of children at funerals of close persons in the context of the family environment.
The ethical aspects of handeling the bodies of deceased

The diploma thesis deals with the ethical aspects we can indentify when dealing with bodies of the deceased. It describes how the deceased body is treated with respect to human dignity or human rights and also shows how the deceased's body was treated in the past and how funeral ceremonies and burials of the human remains looked like. It also deals with the evaluation of the approach to dead body these days. The procedures after death are described as well as the forms of funeral, funeral services or cemeteries. The thesis marginally deals with the funeral customs of selected ethnic minorities living in our territory. A special area is dedicated to the treatment of deceased children, the possibilities of their burial and farewell to their parents. Ethical issues in the field of organ donation are presented here also in the end.
Farewell to the dying as important ritual in lives of bereaved

The bachelor thesis is a theoretical analysis of the process of parting with the dying / deceased and its influence on the survivors. The introduction describes the process of dying and death in terms of history and from the present perspective. The following chapter describes the basic forms of parting, as we can understand them in the context of death and dying. Next chapters are devoted to individual forms of palliative care and dying in hospital treatment or at home. Subsequently, the work deals with death itself, its influence on the survivors and the process of mourning. The final part describes the possibilities of social work and counselling for both the dying and the survivors.
Rites of passage as a theme in the history textbooks

The intention of the Diploma thesis Rites of passage as a theme in the history textbooks is analyze the history textbooks of upper primary school in terms of rites of passage. This practical part is preceded by general introduction to the issue of rituals and rites of passage. The following is a discussion of selected rites of passage, which are weddings and funerals. Selected rites of passage determine the direction which is going analysis itself textbooks. In general I am interested in themes of weddings, funerals and all other facts that are associated with the issue in analyzing textbooks. Then I find out, how and what extent selected rites of passage are presented to pupils. So that pupils gain the most information from the particular way in view of the rites of passage, I deal also possibilities to enrich a certain representation of ritual. The conclusion summarizes the main reasons for the changes of rites of passage that appear in the history books for upper primary school. Christian Church Funeral Ceremonies

he diploma thesis "Christian Church Funeral Ceremonies" deals with Roman Catholic Church funeral ceremonies, both preceding and following the Second Vatican Council reforms, Greek Catholic Church funeral ceremonies and those of Eastern Orthodox Church, Czechoslovak Hussite Church and Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren. It describes various ceremonies and their historical development. By means of comparing the structures of these ceremonies it attempts to find what they have in common as well as what makes them distinctively different in terms of liturgy and theological teaching. It examines the theme of death, after-life conceptions, and funeral ceremonies in life of ancient people and European pagans, Jewish tradition and culture of Middle ages. It also covers the area of the last things of a man and resurrection matter as far as it is mentioned in liturgical books. Finally it questions the suitability of available liturgical texts concerning special cases and new forms of funeral ceremonies. Notions of after-life and meaning of death in Zuni society

Bachelor's thesis called Visions of the afterlife and the importance of death for the Zuni Indian tribe is trying to provide a comprehensive view of the funeral rituals and death beliefs among the selected society of the Puebloan Indians. At first, I try to outline the historical background of the development of the Zuni tribe, along with a brief description of the manner of life and religion and its changes, especially under the influence of Spanish conquerors and Christian religion. After that I am trying to put topic itself into this outline. The paper also briefly deals with selected myths that are one of the main sources of ideas about the afterlife among Zuni for this thesis. The thesis devotes most attention to the afterlife along with funerary ritual. The main objective of this work is both to see how ideas about the death of Zuni reflect their society, and what is meaning of death for them. The paper strives to show that importance of death is in the context of maintaining the unity of a society that is so typical for this tribe.

The Legislation of Providing Health Care of Residents in the Czech Lands from 1918- 1966 Thesis deals with the development of the legislation of providing health care of residents in Czech Lands from 1918 to 1966, which was effective only in Bohemia. The introductory chapters are about the legislation since 1848 due to reception of the legislation from the Austria-Hungary (often referred to as the Austro-Hungarian Empire in English-language sources). This inherited legislation is mainly about the right of the domicile, health and social care and public health. The authoress divided this thesis into three main chapters about public health care according to timely periods. The main chapters contain subchapters specializing in specific legislation of the individual components of public health. First chapter is about reception of the health care legislation from the Austria- Hungary, about public health care legislation, health system from the perspective of the administrative law, the legislation of the medical service, about the rights and duties of doctors and patients, and finally about funeral legislation. The phenomenon of death in the Czechoslovak legions in Russia in the years 1914 - 1920

The topic of the submitted diploma thesis originates from the methodological concept of both historical anthropology and history of mentality as well as everyday life history. The aim of the thesis is the attempt to find a reply to the question what death meant in the lives of soldiers, in what ways they were coping with fear, pain, suffering, in what ways they perceived violence - the inevitable part of their wartime world. The topic of the thesis itself is a complex view of dying and death of Czechoslovak legionaries on the Russian frontline during the First World War, processed mainly on the basis of analysis of historic resources, stored in both the Central Military Archive and Historical Military Archive and on study of ego-documents (correspondence, diaries and personal records of particular participants of the war). In the first part the variety of forms of death have been analysed: death at the battlefront, death in field hospitals, voluntary death or death as a punishment. The second part deals with feelings and mood of fighting men in relation to death, how they accepted it and were able to cope with it, it analyses stress factors, which soldiers had to face and it studies possibilities of defence against the stress of war and death.
