Formation and sources of spiritual identity within Waldorf education

This bachelor thesis focuses on religious expressions of Waldorf school, which are relevant in the view of study of religion. Text in the short range offers default paradigm of anthroposophy as source of Waldorf pedagogy and present views of this holistic approach as a contrast to, so called, fragmentary nature of postmodern culture. The thesis points out identity formation and enculturation of the student through collective experience of cyclical festivities, rituals, dramatization and living out myths. The phenomenons are described in generally insight, it is futher referred to their social and religious function, on the end of each chapter is presented view to the using of the phenomenon in the Waldorf praxis.

Urban Festivities and Cultural Events as Instruments of Urban Revitalization and Development

The central aim of this research is to contribute to the debate on the actual and potential role of urban festivities in urban development of cites areas. For some time, policy makers, planners and architects have realized the great importance of urban festivities and cultural events in revitalization and development of urban areas. They pay attention to both direct or indirect impact of such activities. A variety of festivities and cultural events have started to been incorporated into large-scale architectural and urban projects. They have also been employed as political tools. By now, it is generally accepted that urban festivities and cultural events are important investments contributing to the integration of communities and overall improved representation of the urban region. They often provide the urban environment with a new meaning and/or character. The proposed research is investigating and analyzing the potential effects of urban festivities and cultural events on the transformations and new perceptions of urban spaces and how they can be used as policy tools. It focuses on organized open-air activities in urban public spaces (including urban centers, neighborhoods and peripheries). Principal results of this research are based on the cooperation of two research centres: the Institute of Theory, School of Architecture, Brno University of Technology in Czech Republic and Laboratory for Theories on Urbanism, French Planning Institute, Paris VIII University in France.

Military monuments and Historical Memory. Toward the reception of sepulchral-military monuments of Wars between 1757 and 1914 in the Czech Lands

In thesis war monuments are perceived as specific places of memory. Their so called second life modifies historical awareness about mentioned war events of Czech - or more precisely German- Czech-society in watched period. Changes of relationships to historical monuments are usually dynamic. Distinctive discontinuities - such as changes of government, social systems or departures of whole ethnic groups - influence also reception changes of places, objects and historical memory that are formed woth such places.

Public life on Roayal Vineyards (1880 - 1922)

This diploma thesis focuses on the issue of public life on Royal Vineyards in the period of 1880 - 1922. First of all, particular factors that form the image (character, identity) of Royal Vineyards as czech, healthy, modern and independent city with historical tradition, inhabited mainly by middle class population, are analysed. Further more the thesis is discussing czech public life on Vineyards. By the term public life is here meant an analysis of the formation and appearance of vineyard public spaces and cultural facilities and their importance for residents of Vineyards. Thesis is looking into the function of these spaces as a meeting place for various occasions (eg. holding of festivities, place of associational life, leisure activities). In other chapters german and jewish minorities are closer analyzed. Here the thesis focuses on the character of public life of these communities and their coexistence with Czechs. Examined is, among others, the question which aspects that shape the character of Vineards are the particular groups of residents identified with and which of them they considered as their own and how they have symolically inhabited them. Development Havlíčekian Festivities and Commemoration

The thesis based on contemporary press identifies how the newspaper wrote about Karel Havlíček Borovský during the anniversaries of his birth and his death and whether it wrote about him at all. Thereby, traces the development of the myth of Karel Havlíček and the role which the press has played in this process. The paper focuses on Karel Havlíček's attributes which were used in the articles to describe his personality. It also shows different types of festivities commemorating the anniversaries. In the analysis selected Czech written press from the period from 1866 until 2011 was used. Before the research is introduced, chapters presenting some of academic and scholarly books as well as non-fictional ones describing Havlíček or selected aspects of his work (e.g. linguistic); editions of the letters of his and some editions of his work are mentioned. Following chapters deal with the issue of myth and cult of Karel Havlíček and with the issue of festivities/celebration seen from the perspective of several historians.
