Creating a Python-based Automated System for Recognizing Emotions from Facial Expressions.
Zima, Samuel ; Malik, Aamir Saeed (referee) ; Hussain, Yasir (advisor)
Táto práca skúma rozpoznávanie výrazu tváre (angl. facial expression recognition - FER) pomocou hlbokého učenia so zameraním na použitie v zariadeniach s obmedzenou pamäťou a výpočtovými zdrojmi. Začína výskumom emócií a výrazov tváre z psychologického, biologického a sociologického hľadiska.
The impact of facial expressions on 3D face recognition.
Kováč, Peter ; Goldmann, Tomáš (referee) ; Pleško, Filip (advisor)
Bakalárska práca "Vplyv výrazov tváre na rozpoznávanie tváre v 3D" sa zameriava na štúdium vplyvu výrazov tváre na presnosť rozpoznávania tváre v 3D. Prvé kapitoly skúmajú rôzne techniky 3D modelovania a ich využitie vrátane 3D morfovateľných modelov (3DMM), modelov blendshape a metód založených na neurónových sieťach ako FLAME (Faces Learned with an Articulated Model and Expressions). Práca následne predstavuje nový prístup k rekonštrukcii 3D modelov tvárí z 2D obrázkov a navrhuje hodnotiaci rámec na meranie vplyvu zmien výrazov tváre na rozpoznávanie tváre v 3D. Experimentálne výsledky ukazujú, ako rôzne výrazy, ako napríklad hnev, radosť a strach, ovplyvňujú presnosť rozpoznávania. Zistenia tejto práce prispievajú k hlbšiemu pochopeniu úlohy výrazov tváre v rozpoznávaní tváre v 3D a navrhujú možné zlepšenia na zvýšenie presnosti rozpoznávacích systémov.
Detection of facial expression
Kozák, Roman ; Krček, Petr (referee) ; Roupec, Jan (advisor)
This master‘s thesis deals with the design and implementation of computer application for facial expression recognition. The first section describes the image processing, especially algorithms used in other parts of this thesis. The next section describes methods used for face detection, particularly the Viola-Jones detector. This is followed by a brief description of the basic facial expressions recognized by the application. The last two sections are dedicated to the design and implementation of the facial expression recognition algorithms and to the evaluation of the results.
Asymmetry of the face and facial expressions in relation to handedness
Hřebcová, Eliška ; Velemínská, Jana (advisor) ; Kožejová Jaklová, Lenka (referee)
Facial asymmetry is developed in every human and has an impact on everyone's life. Research of facial asymmetry is important not only in plastic surgery, aesthetic medicine and orthodontics, but also in forensic sciences, bioarchaeology and sociocultural anthropology. It can be influenced by various factors including the lateralization of cerebral hemispheres for cognitive and motor functions. According to the literature, handedness in humans is one of the most important forms of laterality which is probably related to facial asymmetry. The observed asymmetries differ not only between left-handers and right-handers, but also between men and women. Emotional expressions are also expressed asymmetrically on the face. Differences between positive and negative emotions as well as spontaneous and voluntarily expressions were observed. Different forms of laterality of motoric and cognitive cerebral functions are related to each other and their impact on facial asymmetry is therefore very complex.
Complex aspects of communication - gestics and mimics
Růžičková, Eliška ; Jančík, Jiří (advisor) ; Suková Vychopňová, Kateřina (referee)
Title of the thesis: Complex aspects of communication - gestures and facial expressions Key words: Nonverbal communication, emotions, gestures, facial expressions, interpretation Abstract: The thesis focuses on the international comphrensibility of the complex aspects of communication, especially the nonverbal components. Of these nonverbal components we have pursued the gestures and facial expressions in particular. The domains of nonverbal communication are related, therefore the thesis mentions them as well. However our primary focus rests on the gestures and facial expressions. We researched through a questionnaire. The responders identified themselves and after that they were asked to identify and interpret facial expressions and gestures that we had chosen. The research indicates situations, when a communication is expressed only by the use of nonverbal means and may fail to convey the information. Furthermore, we looked into the possible advantages of knowledge of the nonverbal communication for teachers.
The variability of facial expressions in relation to age and sex: pilot study for monitoring the treatment of facial palsy.
Danková, Simona ; Velemínská, Jana (advisor) ; Schmidová, Kamila (referee)
This thesis deals with the analysis of 3D morphological changes and variability in the shape and form of facial expression during five specifically defined facial expressions (raising eyebrows, close both eyes, lips pursing, inflating both cheeks, smile). Changes in facial expression were evaluated in relation to sexual dimorphism and age category of probands using the methods of geometric morphometrics (Dense Correspondence Analysis, Paired Analysis, Principal Component Analysis, Shell-to-Shell Deviation) in program Morphome3cs and RapidForm. The analysis consisted of evaluating the surface of soft tissue changes that occur due to the contraction of facial muscles. Materials used for the analysis are 3D surface facial models of adult healthy people of the Czech nationality (63 women, 58 men) in the age interval 20-60 years. We considered methodology based on Paired Analysis to be more accurate, when we worked only with differences between the neutral expression and facial expression. By choosing a Paired Analysis, we prevented the morphological features of the face from being reflected into the results. Morphological features are a manifestation of sexual dimorphism or age factor as such, but they are not themselves the essence of facial expression. In this way, we analyzed the shape of the face after...
Developing pronunciation through musical activities in French lessons
Prucek, Jan ; Klinka, Tomáš (advisor) ; Jančík, Jiří (referee)
Title of the thesis: Developing pronunciation through musical activities in French lessons Keywords: communicative approach, phonetics, phonology, pronunciation, prosody, activity, music, rhythm, rhythmisation, melody, tempo, intonation, accent, song, rap, facial expressions Abstract: This thesis deals with the teaching of French phonetics, considers the status of phonetics in communicatively oriented teaching, and comes to the fact that the teaching of phonetics and phonology is not a priority in the communicative approach. The work demonstrates the importance of such teaching, and therefore explores how the teaching of pronunciation or some of its components could be made more attractive. Based on the proven relationship of music and language, both as auditory phenomena, this thesis approaches the interwoven elements of these two areas. The aim is to explore how the musical elements, such as: rhythm, melody, tempo, phrasing, etc., could be used in the teaching of French pronunciation - especially at the suprasegmental level. The work offers a basic inventory of exercises which benefit from this characteristic and which has been verified in practice, and in the final analysis summarises their effectiveness in foreign language teaching.
Body language and the language of art
Jírová, Josefína ; Kitzbergerová, Leonora (advisor) ; Hůla, Zdenek (referee)
The proposed thesis deals with the topic of body language in visual art and with understanding of body language as synergy of the innermost experience and the experience of the bodily form. The theoretical part of the thesis analyses psychological, anthropological and art historical literature published both in the Czech Republic and abroad. The point of departure for the theoretical part is the concept of interconnectedness of sensory perception, its cognitive analysis and the ensuing answer to the environment, focusing especially on the subjective character of these processes. In the practical part of the proposed thesis, an educational art project is designed, based on the results of the theoretical study in the first part and impulses from contemporary visual art (Eva Koťátková, Erwin Wurm, Miriam Cabessa and others). The aim of the educational part is to observe the processes mentioned above, concentrating especially on the creative expression through an artistic action and the experience of the individual.
