Harm Reduction as a Pillar of the Anti-drug Policy of the Czech Republic
PRŮDKOVÁ, Táňa
The writing is concerned with the anti-drug policy with a special emphasis on the harm reduction, because even nowadays it is a controversial theme. It emphasises the benefit of harm reduction services for the drug users and for the whole society and it also does not conceal the arguments of the opponents. The theoretical part briefly defines the drug policy and its pillars. The conception of harm reduction, its targets and methods of that approach are described particularly. The components of harm reduction and the appropriate providers are defined there. The conclusion of the theoretical part deals with the possibility of the provision of harm reduction services to imprisoned persons. The practical part is an excursion to the contact centre Drug Azyl in Brno, where the staff does provide the harm reduction services and has thanks to this lot of experience with them. As an illustration there are some examples of the information given to clients as a part of harm reduction. The practical part is concluded by the reflection of the stuff and the reflection of the author of the writing.
Erasmus Students, Culture Shock and the Process of Adaptation
Hofmannová, Zdena ; Cirklová, Jitka (advisor) ; Hirschová, Marta (referee)
The thesis is focused on culture shock and adaptation of Erasmus students based on a research conducted with Erasmus students at Irish university. The method of the research was biographical interview with nine students participating in Erasmus programme. The research indicated absence of culture shock and adaptation was usually tied to personal changes and challenges that the sojourn brought about. The thesis presents main topics through which the respondents constructed the notion of adaptation - language, academic, practical, social adaptation and adaptation on the absence of relatives, friends and partners. The tendency of each of those dimensions of adaptation is growing until the exams start which disrupts this process. In the next section, the thesis compares the course of the sojourn to rite of passage, dividing it into three main phases - before departure (pre-liminal), during the sojourn (liminal) and after return (post-liminal). Rite of passage is also one of the ways how it is possible to explain the definition of the meaning of the sojourn for the students themselves. Other ways are adventure and development of self and better understanding of self (the concept of existential authenticity is used to explain this fact). The thesis marginally touches the subject of the meaning of culture...
Which aspects motivate users of exchange programs to treat
Molnárová, Jana ; Čihánková, Ivana (advisor) ; Semerádová, Martina (referee)
The aim of the bachelor thesis entitled Which aspects of exchange programs lead their users to treat is to introduce the importance and role of contact center workers in the life path of an addicted (drug addicted) client. Further focus on aspects of their treatment process through harm reduction, which can lead to lifestyle changes and associated abstinence. This was done by the testimonies of two k-center workers in the South Bohemian region, who helped to map their activities and consequently the difficulties of dependent clients. The theoretical part describes the nature of dependence, the concept of motivation and related terms such as motivational interviews and case management. This section also includes types of facilities that provide services to drug addicts (hospitals, therapeutic communities, aftercare centers, substitution treatments). The practical part contains qualitative research, which was created from interviews with four workers of k-centers. Followed by a discussion of the results obtained and the conclusion of the thesis. Keywords: Dependency, addiction Motivation Harm reduction Motivational talks Exchange programme

Erasmus as a means of strengthening European identity: case study of the Czech Republic
Černý, Tomáš ; Kasáková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Rovná, Lenka (referee)
This paper deals with the question as to whether there is a correlation between an Erasmus sojourn and European identity. It is assumed by many EU politicians that through the experience of studying and living in another European country, students develop a feeling of community with other Europeans. In spite of such believes, there is lack of conclusive empirical evidence, as some authors argue Erasmus is an effective instrument for promoting European identity, while others do not. Moreover, the effect of an Erasmus stay seems to be affected by factors such as host country and nationality. By analyzing a quantitative survey carried out with Czech Erasmus students, this thesis suggests that, while dependent on various variables, Erasmus can bring about a positive change within European identity.
Effect of the Erasmus Exchange Programme on Psychological and Professional Development of Students
Kudlová, Iveta ; Hubinková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Půbalová, Kateřina (referee)
The theoretical part of this Bachelor's Thesis defines the basic terms of motivation of students to travel abroad, culture, acculturation and a potential culture shock. Besides that, this part looks into the options of studying abroad, now available to students, and analyses the evolution of students' and empoyees' mobility. The second part is practical part, focused on the practical application of theoretical knowledge and verifying its validity with the help of a research sample which consists of one hundred students who are studying at two main universities in the Czech republic and are participating in the Erasmus Programme of Student Exchange in the academic year 2013/2014. The chosen research method is the secondary data analysis based on the technique of a systematic probability sampling. The main objective of this study is to analyse and compare motivations and benefits of such journeys, and to examine the quality of assistance provided to the students during their stay abroad and the level of their integration into the foreign environment.
