In my bachelor's thesis I deal with the issue of escapism - i.e.the desire to escape from reality (through computer games, daydreaming, an escape into the world of fantasy etc.). The reason I chose this theme lies in my personal desire to escape - from certain people's emotional prison, from certain types of traumas, which, within the space of years, sometimes emerge on the surface and influence my present life as well as my future. My medium of choice was large scale painting on canvas. Into these paintings, I have tried to project my feelings of indecision, anxiety and expectation. I believe the theme to be relevant int the whole socio-cultural context, and not just in the last three years, though I do feel the need to escape from reality to be more sought after by people in the context of the wider present.
Cottagecore / Farmcore
Maruškevičová, Nela ; Froulík, Martin (referee) ; Homola, Ondřej (advisor)
Bachelor's thesis focuses on the reflection of the current romanticization of nature and rural life, reflected in the internetcore subculture cottagecore, which it examines more thoroughly. It works with the escapism contained in it, the tendency towards idyll and the creation of an artificial safe-space, while it transfers these factors into a medium on the border of textile, painting and object. It tries to evoke a certain self-reflection in the viewer and to show him a different view of the issues related to the mentioned topics.
When letting light into the room.

In my diploma thesis, I am working on a series of patchworked abstract paintings on textiles which I connect with several glass objects. My source of inspiration is the materialization of my own escapism in the form of daydreaming situated in an illusory landscape/non-landscape. I do not perceive this principle as an escape from life, but as a form of sorting out one's own emotions, thoughts, and the acts of being with oneself. Repetitiveness, everydayness, intimacy and poetics are important principles with which I work when creating works and with the help of which I achieve the desired values of the image. For such conditions, in addition to the purely painting medium, I use everyday fabrics and the soothing rhythmicity of sewing, as well as the need to record using colored surfaces and lines. For me, the formal inspiration is the idea of painting in an extended field and a post-media approach to contemporary painting.
Through the Soaked Cloud
Gajdošová, Kristýna ; Konvalinová, Kateřina (referee) ; Bena, Julie (advisor)
In my work, I gather and process the memories and feelings I collect at and after rave parties. I perceive these parties as a kind of Temporary Autonomous Zone, enabling the expression and overcoming of painful and joyful, collective and at the same time individual feelings. Through the experienced situations, rave parties seep into my everyday life and aesthetically influence my perception of the post-subcultural world. For me, perceptions from dance events are more than just carriers or indicators of subculture. They are essential, formative experiences for me, which I mediate and use to create objects that help me communicate and reflect on my perceptions. Thus, I turn my interest to explore the effects of subcultures and the subsequent influence and infiltration into the current mainstream culture, in which visual perceptions are commodified and dissolved. The experienced situations before, during, and after the party become the intersection of my interest between rave culture and the contemporary art scene it is connected to and penetrates.
What I Want to See
Šavarová, Veronika ; Helia De Felice, Jennifer (referee) ; Fexová, Patricie (advisor)
What I want to see is the culmination of a five-year creation that consisted of several projects. The content varied, but the core remained the same – the creation of a beautiful, perfect world and the associated escapism from the real world. Elements of mystery, surrealism, various kinds of symbols, or feeling of distress have always been present in this previous work, and this is no different in the current project. What I want to see from this years of work draws and borrows its narrative. The work is closely related to my personal experiences. Its name therefore derives from the need for the presence of a particular ideal and utopian place.

Media
Mareš, Michael ; Zamazal, Ondřej (advisor) ; Kraus, Jiří (referee)
Diploma thesis "Media as an Agent of National Self-Confidence: Analysis of the Victory of the Czechoslovak Ice Hockey Players at the 1947 World Championship" deals with the reflection of the major sport event in the Czechoslovak media and how this reflection inspired the audience. The goal of this diploma thesis is to describe the dependance between the media coverage and the national self-confidence, which results from the national identity. Therefore, I focused on the chosen newspaper titles to analyze the content they produced during the 1947 Ice Hockey World Championship. I defined a hypothesis, based on observation and scholarly literature, that the media used the coverage to strengthen the national self-confidence and redefine the national identity. My second hypothesis was the idea, that this kind of coverage led to an active response among the audience. Before I started analyzing the three chosen titles (Lidova demokracie, Rude Pravo, Prace), I delivered complex structure of theoretical concepts, describing the influence media have towards the audience and also reasons why the members of the audience use media in their everyday life. I also focused on the historical and political context, as well as the media landscape that shaped the content of that time. I conducted the analysis and...
