The Life of a Single Mom
KROPÍKOVÁ, Markéta
The bachelor thesis deals with the life of single mothers. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to map the positives and to find out the possibilities of help from the point of view of social work. Two research questions were chosen: 1. "What are the positives of the life of single mothers?" 2. "What are the negatives of single mothers'lives?" This thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part briefly describes the current state, negative phenomena in the life of a single mother and the risks of single life. More specifically, social benefits for single women, maintenance obligations and the situation regarding single women at the time of Covid-19 were described. The practical part was processed using a qualitative strategy, questioning methods and semi-structured interview techniques. Interviews were conducted with single mothers, who were contacted on the basis of the snowball sampling method. The interviews were evaluated using the method of verified coding, on the basic of which eight categories were created. The research found that the life of single women is more complicated than in a complete family, however, it is possible to find both negatives and positives here. Based on the interviews, it was found that it would be desirable to focus on improving and expanding the portfolio of assistance for single mothers. The results of this work can serve as a basis for further research, specifically on how single mothers coped with the Covid-19 crisis, given that this bachelor's thesis monitors the situation of single mothers at the beginning and during the pandemic situation of Covid-19 in 2020/21. They can also serve as study material regarding the lives of single mothers.

The Divorce Rate in the Pandemic Year of 2020 in Czechia
Fidranský, Tomáš ; Slabá, Jitka (advisor) ; Kalibová, Květa (referee)
The Divorce rate in the pandemic year of 2020 in Czechia Abstract: The year 2020 was unprecedented in terms of changes in the functioning of both individuals and institutions. This thesis aims to evaluate the impact of anti-epidemic measures implemented to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic on the divorce rate. It mainly focuses on changes in intensity and structure of divorce rate during the periods of the state of emergency when courts could have been limited in their ability to function properly. Analysis of data from the Czech Statistical Office pointed to a decrease in the total divorce rate in the spring of 2020, at a time of the first pandemic wave. A similar and temporary drop in the divorce rate was already observed in Czechia at the end of the 1990s. The cause behind that decrease was a change in legislature, which made it more difficult for marriages with underage children to get a divorce. Therefore, the decrease in divorce rate intensity occurred only in the group of marriages with underage children. Compared to that, the decrease in 2020 happened almost identically between marriages with underage children present and marriages without underage children present. This divorce rate drop, seen in the spring of 2020, was not sufficiently compensated by the increased divorce rate in the...

Boušová, Marie ; Fialová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Bartoňová, Dagmar (referee)
Changes in the marital status in the age group from 15 to 59 years in the Czech Republic after 1930 Abstract The aim of this thesis is to analyze the changes in population structure according to the individual marital statuses. For this analysis sex-specific and age-specific nuptuality rates and multistate life tables were use, in order to be able to describe transitions between the individual marital statuses. In the first part of this thesis the data sources and the methods of creating the transversal increment- decrement life tables were described. Following chapters deal with the historical development of the Czech Republic population since the year 1930 and the trends of nuptuality, divorce and mortality. Second part is dedicated to the analysis of the transitions between the individual marital statuses. The findings of this thesis conclude that people in the individual marital states tend to react similarly to the historical events in Czech Republic, unless some events are purposefully aiming to influence only a part of the population. Key words: nuptuality rate, divorce rate, mortality rate, marital status, multistate demography, transversal increment-decrement life tables, Czech Republic
Satisfaction and stability in a marriage: does it matter if you have met online or offline?
Kačena, Petr ; Hrabec, Ondřej (advisor) ; Lukavská, Kateřina (referee)
The master thesis looks at marital satisfaction and stability in Czech marriages between 2005 and 2015. The aim of the thesis was to find out whether meeting your spouse online or offline affects marital satisfaction and break-up rate (separation and divorce). The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on attractiveness, the characteristics of a good relationship, the development of marital satisfaction and existing research on online dating. A nationally representative sample of 316 respondents provided answers in an online questionnaire. The results indicate that one in three Czech marriages now begin online. Half of the online group met on an online dating site and 17 % on a social media site. When compared to those that began offline, "online marriages" were slightly less likely to end up in a marital break-up (31 % offline, 26,5 % online) and reported slightly higher marital satisfaction. However, none of these differences were statistically significant. The differences were higher when the online group was narrowed down to the ones who met on an online dating site and on a social media site but remained statistically insignificant. This group also retrospectively reported better fulfilment of their criteria for their life companion at the beginning of a relationship (p=0,041). In general, men...
