CORPORATE DEAD CAPITAL MANAGEMENT
Makovský, Zdeněk ; Tetřevová, Liběna (advisor)
The presented doctoral thesis deals with the problems of the corporate dead capital management in the conditions of the Czech Republic. The dramatic development of the financial markets in the recent years, related mainly to the development of communications technologies and to globalization, enabled Czech companies to make easy use of the capital markets to up-value their momentarily surplus dead capital. The reason why Czech companies have not used this possibility so much so far is partly the tradition of using banking institutions, partly the historically not very developed Czech financial market, and last but not least the worries about the risk of money depreciation. This thesis deals with the optimal portfolio creation methods in the conditions of the Prague Stock Exchange, including the risk management. The theoretical part of the thesis analyses the individual segments of the financial and capital markets from different points of view and it also analyses the dead capital management risks. An independent chapter is dedicated to the stock exchange indices as prospective underlying assets for financial derivatives. The chapter then analyses the structure of PX index, which includes the most liquid Czech shares. The thesis pays substantial attention to the legal and economic analyses of the financial derivatives as possible instruments, alternatively utilizable for appreciation of the dead capital. Financial derivatives do not necessarily represent a considerably higher risk for the company than using other financial instruments if their usage is accompanied by suitable risk mitigation methods. The view of financial derivatives as a game of hazard is analysed separately. This analysis aims to avoid potential legal complications that could be connected with financial derivatives. The closing section of the theoretical part describes the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), and then it extends and modifies it for the conditions of the Prague Stock Exchange. The practical part of the thesis describes the methods of creating the optimal portfolio, which might help the company appreciate the dead capital. The procedures of creating the portfolio are verified on particular titles, including the possibility of using a financial derivative and comparison of both approaches. The conclusion outlines the prospective development of the Czech capital market.

Analysis of Economic Indicators Using Statistical Methods
Fürst, Lukáš ; Šroler, Jakub (referee) ; Novotná, Veronika (advisor)
This thesis inquires into history of selected investment tools and provides technical analysis of them. As the source of information, real official results of given tools are used. The goal is to analyze the data of past years in order to compare the tools using magic triangle. The thesis consists of several parts. It starts with theoretical part that describes the reasons for this questioning, as well as the methods that are used in the rest of the thesis. Then there is the practical part, where real results are processed and compared and some conclusions are made of them. The final part of the thesis is a script in Visual Basic that acts as a utility for investors. Based on his preferences and expectations, it can propose the fittest investment.
Optimization in Financial Applications
Večeřa, Tomáš ; Cabalka, Matouš (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
The main purpose of this thesis is to create an efficient stock portfolio, specifically to optimize current distribution of stock index S&P 500. The building process consist of well-established mathematical-economical methods, which are then improved by applying mathematical models from statistics and optimization. Firstly, we define essential terms in order to reach deeper understanding of used methods. Afterwards, process of thorough selection of stocks and sectors comes to place. Data are then processed in program GAMS in three different ways, depending on investors preference. Although this approach was applied to current era, its principles are applicable to any given timeline.
Evolution of Host Specialisation, Phylogeography and Taxonomic Revision of Xenidae (Strepsiptera)
Benda, Daniel
Twisted-winged parasites (Strepsiptera: Xenidae) are an excellent group for studying the specialisation of parasites on hosts. Their parasitic lifestyle led to the evolution of numerous morphological, behavioural, physiological, and reproductive adaptations. Moreover, many complex adaptive traits of Strepsiptera have no parallel in other organisms. In contrast, little attention has been paid to the study of strepsipteran molecular phylogeny, phylogeography, species delimitation, and their implications for taxonomic classification. Using the methods of molecular phylogeny, we created the first dated phylogenetic study of the family Xenidae. By investigating historical biogeography and ancestral host groups, we indicate that multiple lineages were exchanged between the New World and the Old World + Australia until Antarctica became completely frozen over. During the late Paleogene and Neogene periods, several lineages spread from the Afrotropics to other Old World regions and Australia. The original hosts of Xenidae were most likely social wasps, and the subsequent host switch from social to solitary wasps was secondary and probably occurred only once. The parallel host switch from solitary wasps to digger wasps (Sphecidae) occurred independently in the New and Old World. The biogeography and...
Interdependence obchodních vztahů mezi Austrálií a Čínou
Kluchová, Monika
The area of interest of this diploma thesis is the interdependence of trade relations between Australia and China. The diploma thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The heoretical part of the thesis consists of two main parts. The first part deals with the topic of the world economy and the tendencies that constantly affect it. The second part discusses foreign trade, its basic forms, development and selected theories of foreign trade. At first, the practical part deals with a brief assessment of the development of the economy and foreign trade of Australia and China. Subsequently, an analysis of trade relations between Australia and China, especially in the years 1995-2021, is made. Then, the degree of trade dependence of these relationships is evaluated. This thesis will also point to the development of territorial and commodity specialization or diversification of both countries. The last part of the thesis discusses the development of the position of the European Union as a trading partner of Australia.
