The secondary goal of this work was to acquaint the reader with the nature of the pre-race diet, its principle and its effect on the change in the body composition of the female athlete during the pre-race preparation. This work also aimed to present the effect of a precisely set and strictly observed diet, thanks to which a significant change in body composition can be achieved. Readers of this work will, among other things, learn about various dietary methods for reducing body fat and at the same time for preserving muscle mass during a caloric deficit. Methods: The work was carried out in the form of a...
Nutrition after temporomandibular surgery
Machoňová, Natálie ; Machoň, Vladimír (advisor) ; Vlachopulos, Vasilis (referee)
Nutrition after temporomandibular joint surgery is very specific but defined by clear rules. Patients in recovery receive a mixed diet for the first 3 days and then, if there are no complications, switch to a soft food diet. Many patients are concerned about postoperative pain, the overall course of hospitalization, and how the mixed food will not only taste but also look. Therefore, it is important to consider the patient's opinion regarding hospital food and how the intake of recommended food affects weight loss during recovery. The first goal was to compare weight changes in the observed hospitalized patients at the time of surgery and 5 days after surgery. The second goal was to evaluate the patient's diet after surgery and determine how satisfaction affected weight loss. The third goal was to evaluate patient use of nutritional supplements. The practical part was evaluated from the responses of a questionnaire survey, which involved 16 patients hospitalized in the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery at VFN from January 2023 to March 2023, who underwent temporomandibular joint reconstruction by total replacement. The same patients were subsequently monitored for weight changes. The results showed that the average weight difference of patients after temporomandibular joint surgery was 1,2 kg. It...

The practical part focuses on qualitative research in the form of an interview with a man and a woman and compares their physical and psychological state. The main goal of this work is to find out what effect a fitness lifestyle has on the life of women and men of productive age, which I am trying to achieve with the interview I mentioned.
Insulin pump Therapy compared to Insulin Pen Injections in Pregnant Women with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus
Cvejnová, Michaela ; Anderlová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Krejčí, Hana (referee)
Pregnancy in women suffering from type 1 diabetes mellitus is associated with various complications and risks for both the mother and the baby both during pregnancy as well as during the delivery and in the postpartum period. For this reason, it is essential to ensure proper treatment and compensation of the disease. Proper diabetes compensation and treatment of any associated diseases before and during pregnancy is the basis for a successful pregnancy. If possible, pregnancy should be planned to coincide with a period of the best possible diabetes compensation. Treatment of diabetes in pregnancy includes lifestyle modification (diabetic diet and exercise), regular self-monitoring of glycaemia and insulin therapy with insulin pens or an insulin pump. The subject of the thesis is type 1 diabetes mellitus in pregnancy. The aim was to compare the outcomes of treatment with insulin pens vs insulin pump with regard to diabetes compensation, course of pregnancy and delivery and, lastly, foetal complications. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes current knowledge about type 1 diabetes mellitus in pregnancy. The practical part compares the treatment with insulin pens vs insulin pump. The results are presented in form of statistical analysis of data in women treated with insulin pens or insulin...
Effect of formal and informal nutrition education on the dietary habits of high-school students
Husák, Martin ; Váchová, Alena (advisor) ; Kočí, Jana (referee)
The bachalor thesis focuses on the effects of formal nutrition education on the theoretical knowledge of learners and its subsequent application in their daily meal choices. It aims at students of a selected grammar school and a selected vocational school. The goal was to find out whether or not vocational school learners have better knowledge than grammar school learners and if their knowledge transfers into practice. The research sample of a questionnaire survey consisted of 199 students. According to its outcome, the knowledge of the topic proven by vocational school learners does not significantly differ from the knowledge of their grammar school counterparts. Despite the lack of formal nutrition education at the grammar school, it is the learners of the grammar school who have the better knowledge. Possibilities of influence of cardiovascular risk markers with a diet enriched with amaranth flour
Chmelík, Zdeněk ; Vrablík, Michal (advisor) ; Piťha, Jan (referee) ; Vohnout, Branislav (referee)
Univerzita Karlova v Praze 1. lékařská fakulta Abstrakt dizertační práce Možnosti ovlivnění markerů kardiovaskulárního rizika stravou obohacenou amarantovou moukou PharmDr. Zdeněk Chmelík Praha 2022 Abstract (EN) Introduction: Diet suitable for lipid metabolism disorders should not increase the total and LDL cholesterol, and ideally should assist in its lowering. Analysis of literary sources suggest that amaranth can meet these properties. Aim: The execution of literary investigation of the issue and experimental verification of lipid- lowering effect of amaranth flour in laboratory conditions. Methods: 50 (Experiment 1) or 40 (Experiment 2) The mice were divided into five (Experiment 1) or four (Experiment 2) groups fed by control mixture (C), high-energy diet (HED), high- energy diet with amaranth (HED+A) and in Experiment 1, by high-energy diet with amaranth flour and simvastatin (HED+A+S) or only with simvastatin (HED+S), and in Experiment 2 a by high-energy diet with squalene (HED+S). Weight gains were measured and TC, LDL and HDL cholesterol determined. Results: Feeding of HED diets resulted in a statistically significant increase in the TC cholesterol by 81% (Experiment 1) or 125% (Experiment 2), LDL cholesterol of 612% (Experiment 1) or 304% (Experiment 2) and a decrease in HDL cholesterol by 8.4%...
The patient healing hemodialysis at home by the paramedic´s perspective
KŘIVÁNEK, Martin
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the issue of domestic haemodialysis with special attention to the role of paramedics in dealing with acute problems associated with this procedure. The work is intended as theoretical, without the author´s own research. It aims at reviewing treatment options for kidney failure, describing the principle of home haemodialysis, its benefits and disadvantages for patients and their families. Special attention is paid both to potential risks brought about by this method of dialysing blood and to ways of addressing the complications from the perspective of pre-hospital care. To achieve its goals, the work outlines and compares current attitudes towards these issues both in this country and abroad. Its introductory part summarizes the structure and functions of kidneys, the most frequent causes of renal diseases as well as their possible therapies. Further on, it introduces in greater details both general and specific procedures applied by emergency medical squads in case of complications during domestic haemodialysis. The main scientific contribution of the work consists in the very synthesis of the present knowledge and methods of treatment and - at the same time - in defining the so far unresolved issues. The part of the thesis devoted to home haemodialysis, which still represents a relatively rarely used method, underlines particularly the fact that emergency medical procedures responding to specific complications connected with this treatment have not been sufficiently defined yet. The thesis therefore comes to the conclusion that paramedics facing acute problems associated with domestic haemodialysis have to rely mainly on general procedures determined for providing pre-hospital care. That is why this field still remains open for further theoretical research. Detailed potential practical steps aimed specifically at complications during home haemodialysis are in demand as well.
Issues of atopic dermatitis in context of nutrition
HAVLOVÁ, Ivona
The topic of my bachelor's thesis is "Issues of atopic dermatitis in context of nutrition." Atopic dermatitis is a type of skin inflammation in moist areas (back of the knee, inner elbow, groin). Skin health is affected by factors including the weather, textile and diet. Data were gathered using a qualitative research and snowball sampling. A survey was conducted among nine respondents, each providing information on the food they ate for a week. The goal was to map atopic dermatitis in the context of nutrition. The practical part of the thesis focused on what foods seem to be the most problematic for respondents. The survey showed these include citrus fruit, sweets, highly processed foods and especially alcohol. Respondents said that wine was the most problematic among alcoholic beverages. A few respondents mentioned nuts, soya and dairy. Seasons also have an impact on the atopic dermatitis incidence, with winter posing the biggest problem and summer following. A link between atopic dermatitis and the weather has not been properly studied and cannot be confirmed. The food analysis was recorded in the Nutriservis app. Data were entered into an Excel table that includes energy and macronutrient values of individual meals. The analysis shows that most respondents eat bread/rolls with ham or cheese, or cereal for breakfast. Snacks are similar but smaller than breakfasts. Lunches and dinners are often home-made meals consisting of good polysaccharides (rice, pasta, potatoes), meat (mostly chicken) and vegetables. The analysis reveals often unbalanced energy intake over the week, mostly because of alcohol consumption. Most respondents eat enough fruit and vegetables.
