The result of my thesis is a set of paintings in dry pastel on canvas. Through the deliberate deformation of figures, which I use as a means of artistic expression, I try to capture the fragile nature of human existence, characterized by instability and transience. The subjects of the resulting paintings are portraits that depict my sisters and me.

Controversy of visual image in public space on an example of Lennon's Wall in Prague (From the perspective of power distribution, destruction and communication)

The following diploma thesis deals with image destruction in the public space, specifically focuses on its selected fragments, which can be considered as communication messages. The work provides a synchronous and diachronic analysis of the subject of the research as well as the transformation of its statuses, thus concentrating on the acquisition, transformation and extinction of the symbolic meanings of the object within the cultural- historical complex. The pattern of destruction of the image in the public space is chosen as Lennon's Wall in Prague, whose constant visual and meaningful transformation is taking place today - against the backdrop of the historical, power and cultural context. The theoretical basis is based on the analysis of change based on the concept of "discourse" and "discourse formation" by Michel Foucault, as well as on the anchoring of methodology in CDA Norman Fairclough and DHA Ruth Wodak. Using Nothing We Want to Change the the World

This work focuses on the evolution of Dada and its manifestation in Czech literature, especially in the twenties of the twentieth century, but, of course, it focuses on later manifestations too. It focuses on the main features of dadaism, like abhor technics, mysticism and rituality, destruction, universality, dada language or humour. Application of dada to czech discourse would be unable, without defining these features. This work focuses on real or potential dadaistic manifestations and theoretical reception in the czech discourse, which is represented by Karel Teige on the side of oppositors and the Devetsil group of Brno on the side of propagators. The last chapter is about the relations between dadaism and carnival culture, that wat theoretically formulated by Bachtin. I focuses especially on identical properties. The Theme of the Destruction of a World in the Hispanic American Literature

(in English) This thesis focuses on the theme of the destruction of a world in the Hispanic American literature. Its principal part is a detailed analysis of the novels The Villagers, written by the Ecuadorian author Jorge Icaza, and The Kingdom of this World, written by the Cuban novelist Alejo Carpentier. Additional parts of the thesis are a concise outline of significant literary works which include the theme of the destruction of a world and a brief corpus analysis. The analysis compares the frequency of the usage of several words which are connected with the theme in the Hispanic American and Spanish literature. The thesis aims to answer the following questions: Is the theme of the destruction of a world characteristic for the Hispanic American literature? In which forms does it occur? How is the theme demonstrated in the literary works, and what are its features? The thesis also examines the relation between the Hispanic American reality and the presence of the theme in the writings of the authors born in that part of the World. The relation between the analysed literary works and the historical background of the period in which it was written is important for the theses as well as selected facts of the life stories of the authors. To a certain extent, it determined their literary output.

Cultural property in armed conflicts: Typical motivations causing their destruction

In recent years protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflicts has become largely mentioned issue. Despite broad international legal codification of principles to prevent destruction of cultural property in the event of armed conflicts, destruction of cultural property obviously occurs. Within discussion on their protection, attention is not so paid to the values of cultural property representing for interested actors not merely in the event of armed conflicts. Attention is not much paid also to the motivations leading actors to destroy cultural property in the event of armed conflicts. The thesis is based on current state of knowledge both in academic or international law and it focuses on exploring motivations leading actors to destroy cultural property in the event of armed conflicts. To answer the research question: "What motivators are leading actors to actively destroy cultural monuments in armed conflicts?" is proceeded from analysis of literature that expounds the motivations for the destruction of cultural property in the event of armed conflicts. These motivations will be understood as theoretical explanations of destruction for the purposes of the work, and on the basis of five case studies, their validity will be checked.
