The topic of the thesis is focused on the design of a day care centre for adults with disabilities. At the beginning of the literature review, the issue of barrier-free use of buildings is explained. Next, the thesis addresses the proper design of day care centers including a description of the people it is intended for and the therapies that will be provided in this facility. In the practical part of the thesis, three variants of the layout of the day-care centre are developed in the form of studies. Then, the most suitable variant of the day-care centre was selected, for which technical documentation was prepared in the form of drawings and text.

Day Care Centers focused on cognitive rehabilitation are still not yet availeble, well known and widespread in the Czech Republic. The diploma thesis focuses on rehabilitation programs for people with acquired brain injury. The main aim is provide an overview of therapeutic programs that focus on cognitive rehabilitation. The theoretical part of the work also deals with the issue related to the rehabilitation of cognitive function. The aim of the practical part is to verify the effect of intensive 4-week memory therapy in the cognitive program of patients with acquired brain injury at the Day Care Centers of the Charles University 1st Faculty of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine General Faculty Hospital. Identification of the extent of necessary support provided to children and adults with physical and combined disabilities

The bachelor thesis is focused on identifying the extent of the necessary support provided to children and adults with physical and combined disabilities within day care centres and week care centres. The aim of the work is to find out how the necessary support is implemented for these users, to find out which methods are used by social service providers to determine the extent of the support, how the necessary support is transformed into individual planning, and how individual planning works within the regular practice of the social worker. The theoretical part of the thesis describes physical and combined disabilities, defines the work of the social worker and social services, evaluation and overview of the necessary support provided to children and adults with physical and combined disabilities and it also contains chapters focused on individual planning. In the practical part of the bachelor thesis, a qualitative research survey using the method of semi-structured interview has been carried out, and a sample of respondents from the social workers working in day or week care centres in the Czech Republic have been approached. Research questions on methods of identifying the extent of the support needed for children or adults with physical and combined disabilities and methods of using these findings in the individual planning of the course of the social service have been identified. Respondents' responses have been processed by the open coding methodology.

Mental health support and activation of people with mental illness from the point of view of a special pedagogue

This thesis focuses on the forms and methods of support for individuals with mental illness aimed at helping them to return to normal life. The individual chapters of the thesis deal with the historical milestones of the emergence of psychiatry, the classification of mental illness and quality of life issues. Therefore, the most used therapeutic methods and strategies of working with clients are defined in the text, which lead to the adoption of appropriate daily habits, improvement of mental health and thus quality of life. The work also focuses on interdisciplinary cooperation, which, in addition to medicine, permeates other disciplines, namely psychology, social work and special education. The topic of my research is timely as an increasing number of people with mental illness are seeking professional help. Therefore, all team members should have sufficient knowledge of the symptomatology and nature of each psychiatric diagnosis. In order for interdisciplinary collaboration to be meaningful, the competencies of the individual professionals must be clearly defined. This creates an interconnected set of services aimed at making the person's integration into society and everyday life as easy as possible. Alzheimer's dementia in the family - use of services of a day care and a week care centre

The thesis focuses on care of clients with Alzheimer's, including the burden of family members and possible options of using services of a day care and a week care centre. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with Alzheimer's disease together with nursing care, health care system in the Czech Republic and possibility to use services of day care and week care centres. In the empirical part of the thesis the method of qualitative research was used. A non standardized interview was applied as a method of questioning. The results of the qualitative research clearly show that the care for clients with Alzheimer's dementia represents a major burden for family members who care for the ill and in connection with the care provided they have to tackle following problems. They have to cope with the gradual deterioration of memory of the ill, which is associated with occasional forgetfulness, disorientation, wandering around. Another problem is to handle in an acceptable way the change of behaviour of their loved ones who often attack them both verbally and physically. Family members help patients with feeding, emptying, hygiene and grooming. They must solve the difficulties with activation of patients including memory exercises, they watch whether the patients swallow the medication. The conclusions of the thesis show that family members have to deal with many above mentioned problems when providing care for their loved ones. They themselves are tired and exhausted due to the care they provide, which is related to the incidents of their own health problems. They neglect themselves and their families, it is difficult for them to coordinate the care with their job and often come to work sleepy. For these reasons they would like to use services of day care and week care centres. It eases them of the burden of care, which they see as a benefit. The research revealed the expected services of the day care centre including expected nursing care. The research results were presented to the management of the Aftercare Hospital in Humpolec as it had planned to open a day care centre for patients with Alzheimer's dementia. Furthermore, the results served as a basis for the seminar for potential applicants, who would like to work in the centre. Based on information obtained in the course of writing of the thesis, a draft of the brochure was created which would serve as information material for family members of clients with Alzheimer's including the patients themselves.
