PPG-based analysis of heart rate variability
Zachar, Erik ; Šaclová, Lucie (referee) ; Ronzhina, Marina (advisor)
The Bachelor's thesis is focused on heart rate variability and its analysis using PPG records. This thesis describes, explains and compares methods of measuring heart rate using electrocardiographic (ECG) and photoplethysmographic (PPG) recordings. In the beginning of thesis, the theory of the cardiovascular system, heart rate variability and acquaintance with the measurement of ECG recordings is described. At the end of the theoretical part, the measurement of PPG records is explained with the possibilities of their subsequent processing for HRV analysis. The practical part deals with data acquisition on volunteers, later the design of an algorithm for signal preprocessing, calculation of selected HRV parameters and finally statistical evaluation of success and discussion of results.
Possible uses of Occupational Therapy in patients with painful shoulder syndrome
Pukovcová, Klára ; Svobodová, Tereza (advisor) ; Čábelková, Alžběta (referee)
This following thesis is focused on painful shoulder syndrome and possible treatments through occupational therapy. It serves as a summary of possible occupational therapy interventions for patients with painful shoulder syndrome. The main aim was to create a treatment method that occupational therapist can provide as part of a multidisciplinary team. The theoretical part includes anatomy and insights into kinesiology, causes, symptoms, testing and treatment options for painful shoulder syndrome. The main part of the thesis introduces potential treatment procedures which can be performed through the intervention of occupational therapy and brings a new perspective in terms of rehabilitation of the disease, since it was previously primarily viewed from a physiotherapists perspective, which is essential for the treatment of painful shoulder syndrome. The practical part contains two case studies performed on adult patients who suffered with painful shoulder syndrome, both show the course of therapy in individual patients. Occupational therapy methods were practiced on patients and are dealt with in the theoretical part of the work. The methods compliment physiotherapist intervenion and facilitate the patient's return to normal daily life. KEY WORDS: painful shoulder syndrome, shoulder joint, upper...
Quality of life in patients with chronic nonmalignant pain
Michalíková, Lucie ; Raudenská, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Nikodemová, Hana (referee)
This bachelor's thesis addresses fear of pain (agliophobia) in patients who suffer from chronic, non-malignant-tumor-related pain. The paper is divided into two parts: theoretical and empirical. The theoretical background deals with definitions of quality of life, pain and emotion associated with pain. It explains the origins and causes of pain, methods of its investigation and consequent treatments. Finally, focus is given to addressing issues within nursing care. The empirical section focuses on the quality of life in relation to other clinical and demographic factors. The conclusion of the empirical section describes the surveyed sample of patients and presents results of the research conducted. Research within the study was based on quantitative questionnaire surveying. The study uses standardized questionnaires focused on day-to-day activities and emotions. Patients filled in forms and questionnaires detailing their medical histories, emotions (BDI II, GAD-7, daily activities (Oswestry Index, Tampa Scale) and scales of quality of life in chronic pain (QOLS). Statistical data analysis was conducted with regard to the hypotheses of relationships between the selected and monitored variables. Analysis was contruct from Spearman rank correlation, Cronbacha alfa, t-test and linear regresion.
From a Factory to the Business Park: Socio-spatial Change of Karlin
Úlehlová, Marie ; Vašát, Petr (advisor) ; Uherek, Zdeněk (referee)
The thesis deals with the socio-spatial transformation of the Prague district Karlin. This post- socialist and post-industrial developing dynamic district has changed its character in the recent decades. I follow on from the post-socialist theories that perceive the city of the so- called hybrid perspectives. These theories reveal it as a whole and take into account the everyday experience of the changing city. I describe these experiences of the inhabitants and visitors of Karlin with the concepts of social production and social construction, which combine the macroanalysis of social, economic and political influences and the microanalysis of individual living experience. I work on the assumption at the same time that the socio- spatial change manifests itself in the everyday activities of people and their rhythmicity which is the result of social construction and the production of urban space. The aim of the thesis is to describe the socio-spatial change through the example of Karlin Square with the analysis of rhythmicity. I use several qualitative methods of urban studies. In particular, I use the following methods: semi-structured interviews with mental mapping, participating observations and diaries

Kotlínová, Lucie ; Pospíšilová, Lucie (advisor) ; Chodounská, Helena (referee)
Active seniors, their everyday activities and mobility: the example of City District Prague 12 Abstract Regarding to ageing of the Czech population the daily mobility of seniors is becoming still more current topic. The aim of the thesis is to describe daily motion and implemented activities of seniors that are moving into the territory of the City District Prague 12. The first part of empirical research is based on the findings of the questionnaire survey. The second part uses information detected in semi-structured interviews. It was found, that the respondents are quite satisfied with their mobility and other aspects of daily life. The most common activities are motion activities and small purchases. Though the respondents have to deal with several difficulties during their day-to-day travel, a variety of strategies have been identified to help them overcome these complications. Research reveals that measures which might encourage seniors in daily motion should involve great spectrum of actions realized by many different participants. Key words: daily mobility, active seniors, daily activities, City District Prague 12

Problems of patients with left ventricular asisst device and access nursing sisters.
CHAMROVÁ, Anna
In my thesis we devote to problems of patients with the implanted system HeartMate II, which is now approved as a support for an indication to bridging the time to heart transplantation and for a destination therapy for patients with a refractory heart failure. We also devote to the access of nurses to these patients. The theoretical part of the thesis is generally devoted to mechanical cardiac supports and indications to their introduction. Next part describes HeartMate II, specifics of the nursing care for a patient who is after implantation mechanical cardiac support HeartMate II and limitations, which follow for a patient at home. The target of the work is to: 1. Find out, what the priorities of needs of the patient with a mechanical cardiac support are in a nursing care. 2. Find out, how the patient with a mechanical cardiac support perceives himself and his future. 3. Find out possibilities of nursing interventions to a saturation of needs by priorities of patients with mechanical cardiac supports. For the qualitative part of the empirical research the method of questioning with technique a semi-structured interview with opened questions was chosen. The research group consists of four patients after the implantation of left-hand mechanical cardiac supports HeartMate II. In this part we were finding out answers to four research questions. 1. Which damaged needs are predominant by patients with mechanical cardiac supports? 2. Do patients with mechanical cardiac supports have enough information about possible complications related to the life after the implantation of a mechanical support? 3. How does the patient with a mechanical cardiac support perceive his future? 4. How does the patient with the mechanical cardiac support HeartMate II perceive himself? Then results of research were analyzed and written into schemes. In the quantitative part of the research four hypotheses were determined. 1. Interventions of nurses during a nursing care which is oriented to monitoring of vital functions are predominant over the orientation of needs that are changed by the life with a mechanical cardiac support. 2. Nurses are available to answer to patients with mechanical cardiac supports questions which are related to a service of the device HeartMate II. 3. Nurses are well informed about possible complications after the implantation of the left-hand mechanical support. 4. Nursing interventions of nurses are predominant over interventions of the other members of the team during the care of patient after the implantation of the left-hand mechanical cardiac support. The research group of the research consists of nurses, who are working at the department with beds, the intensive care unit of clinic of a cardiovascular surgery and at the resuscitation department of an anaesthesiology and resuscitation in IKEM. 95 respondents were addressed. The returnability of questionnaires was 69% from the beginning number. On the basis of the result of the research we think that targets were fulfilled. Patients have enough information about complications related with the life with the mechanical cardiac support HeartMate II. Patients consider a satisfaction of psychical needs, especially the feeling of a safety and a security, as a priority, although they are highly specific problems. In this view a psychotherapeutic access and a therapeutic communication of a nurse with a patient are important. We are going to hand results of the research over to the management of IKEM. A thematic schedule of a tutorial was created. This tutorial engaged in psychic needs of a patient, a psychotherapeutic access of nurses and a therapeutic communication with a patient.
