Subject of this thesis is a phenomenon of a new digital world - internet memes. These are concept spreading from one user to another through new media. As a source of memes serves for this work the club New Internet Humours from discussion forum nyx, we introduce on a few selected examples the main differencies between memes and traditional approach to humour, perhaps even to communication in general.
Emotionality of the Game of Thrones Fandom in the Era of Convergence Culture

This master's thesis deals with the topic of emotionality of the Game of Thrones fandom in the era of convergence culture. Game of Thrones, which had been on air since 2011 to 2019, became a hit show which gained millions of supporters and each new season was highly anticipated among public. During the course of all eight seasons, the show caused numerous heated controversies. Final season left both viewers and critics torn. This master's thesis is therefore interested in detecting and describing emotions of the Game of Thrones fan community during the time that the final season had been on air. Apart from emotionality, emphasis is also put on the characteristics of the show and its fandom. Reasearch was carried out online via the method of participant observation in six comments sections on the fan website Watchers on the Wall.com. Insomuch as fandom is connected to convergence culture, media convergence and audience participation, these topics are also covered. The term fandom is defined and the difference between audience and fandom is described. Last but not least, terms such as collective intelligence and knowledge community, which are also associated with fandom, are defined as well. All findings and the answers to research questions are then presented in the summary.
Starting Televize Seznam - A new internet media distribution channel

The bachelor thesis called Starting Televize Seznam - A New Internet Media Distribution Channel is dedicated to the newly established TV channel which was launched in 2018 by Czech internet company Seznam.cz. The entrance of internet company to the field of television broadcasting is not very usual. In the age of digital technology boom, the process of media expansion is in most cases opposite. More often, TV stations launch their web versions and social networks on which they provide content that is the same as in broadcasting or in some way enriched. This results in the media convergence, changes in media production and also in media professions. At present everyone is online almost continuously on a mobile phone, it is more important for media companies to offer users more diverse content anytime, anywhere. The audiences have undergone significant changes mainly due to a network media. The users can choose what to watch or read anytime in the day. In addition they can interact with the content or even produce it. The thesis reflects on why Seznam.cz launched the so-called old media, when according to some lay estimates the television will soon cease to exist. Fan art in official promotion of video games

With the rise of Internet, Web and new media technologies come increased opportunities for audience to recreate media content and influence its flow across different media platforms. The fan as a demanding yet enthusiastic consumer has become a centrepiece of media industries' marketing strategies. On the one hand, this qualitative change often described as participatory culture means a giant leap forward for fans, who can now serve new roles within the media industry. On the other, it represents a potential exploitation of media users, as unpaid volunteers do the labour professionals are paid for. This study investigates this tension in a case of videogame fans. On their official websites, videogame developers encourage fans to contribute with their fan art harnessing fan creativity for their advertising purposes. Convergence culture raises conflicts and compromises between creators of fan art (fan artists), and the owners of the copyrighted works they appropriate (game companies). This study addresses three main issues: (1) the way and circumstances under which game companies are displaying fan art on their official websites, (2) how fans understand the tensions between empowerment and exploitation, how do they address the issue of free labour, (3) how fans view issues concerning intellectual property...
