Comparison of management between the Czech and English preschool educational systems

This Bachelor Thesis focuses on the comparison of preschool education systems between England and the Czech republic. The summary of the theoretical part characterizes both Czech and English preschool education systems, their history, organisation and education goals in preschools. The theoretical part also includes chapters dedicated to curricular documents, comparative education and current issues in preschool education. The practical part mentions qualitative research methods that were used, participant observation and in-depth interviews. Furthermore, the thesis thoroughly describes and compares two chosen preschools, one from the Czech republic and one from England.

EDUCATION OF TEACHERS IN SELECTED COUNTRIES

This diploma thesis deals with the comparison of education of upper secondary teachers in chosen countries including the Czech Republic. Its objective is to analyse requirements for teachers' training, qualifications and continuing professional development. The thesis primarily looks into the organisation of the education system and governance, legislation and principals of upper secondary teachers' training in chosen countries. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first one specifies the environment of chosen countries using different criteria (the Czech Republic, England and Wales, Finland) and also the teachers' training, qualification and development dilemma in particular countries is detailed in this part. The countries involved are described in general (geographic location, political system, social, cultural and economic situation). The outline of the development and current situation of each society contributes to the understanding of particular systems of education. Chosen countries are characterised by a considerable geographic distance and also by different historical development. The general information is enhanced with legislation and administration and governance specifics. Chemical Education in Scotland - teaching of chemistry at high schools and chemistry teachers education

The Czech Republic and Scotland rank similarly in international pupil's performance tests. However, education systems of these countries differ greatly. This research has three main focus areas: 1) general aspects of Scottish education including teaching methods, school and real life connections in teaching, and school leaver's destinations 2) studying Chemistry and teaching at university 3) Chemistry in the senior phase of secondary education and the change of topics and exam paper brought in with the new Curriculum for Excellence. Comparative analysis of syllabi, exam papers, government publications and OECD reports was used and personal experience from an exchange study programme at a Scottish university and a work placement at a secondary school in England were utilized. The Higher exam paper was translated and Czech secondary students sat the test Furthermore, teacher trainees and Chemistry teachers were asked to evaluate the test. Results show that Czech students are taught different things and are accustomed to different ways of being tested, ones that are more focused on knowledge and less on critical thinking.
