Purposeful updating of a set of historical objects
Pill, Tomáš ; Kotek, arch Jakub (referee) ; Boleslavská, Yvona (advisor)
The topic of the diploma thesis is the design for the renovation of the Porta Coeli monastery complex in the village of Předklášteří. It is a unique, valuable place with a rich history and spiritual character. Monastic life is a historical and, to some extent, today's purpose. However, it is currently in decline and can be expected to disappear completely in some time. Large parts of the area, including historic buildings, are thus in a dilapidated state without use. The monastery provides the visitor with only a minimum of possibilities - a visit to the museum, guided tours, Sunday service. However, the place has a huge recreational, rehabilitation and spiritual potential, which the proposal seeks to develop. Based on the analyzes of the current state and utilization, buildings and areas for further design were selected. These are mainly objects: sýpka, ovčín, probožštví, kočárovna, stará fortna, II.kvadratura, opatství and added new building. Of these, the new building and the stará fortna are further elaborated. The design respects the currently implemented and prepared plans with the monastery. The designed objects are of different typology and functional content, they are connected thematically with the effort to create a comprehensive complex focused on wedding ceremonies, rehabilitation, cultural activities and other social events.

Fresco works by Lukáš Vávra in South Bohemia This diploma thesis is devoted to the work of the late Baroque fresco painter, and Vyšší Brod Cistercian, Lukáš Vávra. His artistic legacy has not yet been documented in its entirety, nor has it been examined historically. This thesis is the first effort in this direction. It is based on data drawn mainly from the Historical Archive of the Vyšší Brod Monastery, as well as from other archival sources. Vávra's works are included in this discussion, especially the frescoes in the monasteries of Vyšší Brod and Zlatá Koruna, as well as framed paintings that have been preserved. With the help of relevant respected sources, Vávra's artistic endeavors are then placed in the cultural and historical context of Southern Bohemia. This relates primarily to the Schwarzenberg Dominions in South Bohemia as well as the environment of the South Bohemian Cistercian monasteries in Vyšší Brod and in Zlatá Koruna.

Panošková, Tereza ; Macek, Petr (advisor) ; Kubík, Viktor (referee)
My diploma thesis is focused on the foundational activities of the Markvartic family which is one of the most prominent families in Northern Bohemia of its time. In terms of the investigated area and period, the diploma thesis is a continuation of the author's bachelor thesis which was focused on the foundational activities of the House of Wartenberg which had a common ancestor with the Markvartic family. The work's focus is the evaluation of relics of preserved buildings in historical and cultural context, where their original feature was changed by later building measures. Every object will be described and analyzed using secondary literature, material and literary sources. The result of this method will be a short synthesis including the outline buildings stages of objects and their style evaluation. This method will be applied on the background of historical contexts, which represent connections of the Markvartics and royal court and the Cisterciensis, Dominicans and Johanites Order.

The monastery in Žďár nad Sázavou in the first > years after its renewal (1676-1705)
Schutová, Martina ; Zdichynec, Jan (advisor) ; Charvátová, Kateřina (referee)
This thesis deals with the history of the Cistercian monastery of Žďár nad Sázavou in the second half of the 17th century, specifically from 1676 till 1705. In 1676, after almost four decades since the Cistercian Order had regained control of the seigniory in Žďár and the convent had been re-established, the monks were allowed to elect their own Abbot. Benedikt Zaunmüller, the prior of the monastery of Vyšší Brod, was elected and remained Abbot of Žďár till 1691 when he was forced to resign on health grounds. He was succeeded by Edmund Bagner, the first of the Abbots of the re-established monastery who was elected from the members of the Žďár convent and remained in office till his death in 1705. The scope of this thesis corresponds with the terms of office of these two Abbots who significantly contributed to the improvement in the economic situation of the monastery and the expansion of the personnel of the convent in Žďár and who are indisputably among the significant personalities of the Žďár Abbey. The first chapter outlines the history of the Žďár monastery from its establishment in the middle of the 13th century. The second chapter captures the transformation of the...
