The theological basis for the charitable activities of the Christian Church. The thesis focuses on the charitable work of the Christian Church today known as Diakonia, characterised as a service of love to others, which is currently considered one of the key, i.e. constitutive elements, of the fundamental structure of the Church. Based on analyses of the relations between theological disciplines, particularly Biblical, systematic theology and Christian social ethics, it identifies the Christian Church's idea of charity as the communion of love in the service of those who suffer. A fundamental defining characteristic of the Diakonia charity is God's love and the structure of the assessment system that unfolds from it that is specific and essential for the Christian Church. Specific theories of private property in the economic thought of XIX century: the Manifesto of the Communist Party versus Rerum Novarum

The bachelor thesis compares the Catholic and Marxist understanding of private property as expressed in Rerum Novarum and the Manifesto of the Communist Party. The situation of the lowest class had demeaned during the 19th century to such a level that a large part of society had to face an existential crisis. A continually decreasing wage, alarming working conditions, the non-existence of social security and a high unemployment rate were characteristic for the 19th century. With the rise of mechanical production women and children started playing an active part in the working process, thus escalating the competition on the labour market. Karl Marx's solution written down in the Manifesto was based on abolishing private property and allocating it under collective keeping. On the contrary, the Catholic Church insisted on maintaining private property and emphasized solidarity among social classes. The Church's reaction to the condition of the lowest class and the growing support of communism in Europe was formulated in the first social encyclical Rerum Novarum. Pastoral care of persons with physical disabilities - theory and application

The diploma thesis strives to map and analyze the pastoral care of people with disabilities in the Czech Republic, both theoretically and practically. The theoretical scope of the topic uses primarily scientific literature from the field of neurology, psychology and sociology. In this theoretical part, it does not ignore the social policy of the state, which should help these people. Great emphasis is also placed on biblical and ecclesiastical teachings. Professional literature from the field of special pedagogy and pastoral theology is used as well for analysing the practical aspects of the topic, but mainly it draws from the practical experience of respondents to the questionnaire created in the framework of this thesis. The first two chapters describe physical disabilities from the perspective of neurology and psychology. The third chapter analyses theoretically attitude of society and the state to this issue. The fourth and fifth chapters deal with the question of disability in terms of Bible and church documents. The next chapter maps the social activities and services of charities in the Czech Republic which are provided to people with physical and other types of disabilities. Analysis of the relation between Catholic social teaching and standpoints of "Freedom and Direct Democracy - Tomio Okamura" party

This thesis is concerned with finding a relationship between the principles of Catholic social teaching and the written views of the Freedom and Direct Democracy - Tomio Okamura party as presented on the party's website. At the beginning of the thesis the reader is briefly introduced to individual principles of Catholic social teaching. For the purposes of this thesis five principles have been chosen which are mentioned in the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church. These are the principles of human dignity, the common good, universal destination of goods, subsidiarity, and solidarity. Then the reader is acquainted with the basic views of the Freedom and Direct Democracy - Tomio Okamura party (SPD). By way of indicative research on the particular views of SPD, three topics are then formulated, which are most often mentioned by SPD. These consist of the European Union, foreign policy and migration. Comparison of these most frequently mentioned topics with Catholic social teaching and other relevant resources creates a base for further confrontation between Catholic social teaching principles and the views of SPD. Rerum Novarum: Main ideas in today's context

The aim of this bachelor thesis "Rerum Novarum: Main ideas in today's context" is a reflection of main ideas of Leo XIII.'s encyclical Rerum Novarum, covering its biblical and patristic sources - especially in area of labour, ownership and money, their actualization in selected Magisterial texts during next decades - encyclicals of Popes Pius XI., John Paul II., Benedict XVI. and Francis, and their analysis within today's context. There are fundamental topics like relation between the private ownership and freedom and responsibility of a man, labour and capital separation with its results, labour capitalization within the family and roles of family, the Church and a state in social issues. Furthermore, the work deals with some other following ecclesiological and pastoral aspects - the impact of solving social issues on evangelization and the impact of the inability of the state to solve the social issues on the actions of the Church. Encyclical Rerum Novarum is the basis for the social doctrine of the Church, this work tries to show why this is so. Employment policy from the point of view of the catholic social teaching

The Bachelor thesis "Employment policy from the point of view of the catholic social teaching", deals with the alternatives and means of application of the catholic social teaching in the employment policy. In the first chapter it describes the history of the social teaching of the church, further it analyses the fundamentals and principles, followed by the catholic social teaching in the field of the human labour. Those entire bases are later used as the building blocks for the research into particular employment policies. Second chapter describes in detail the area of remuneration, labour unions, active and passive employment policies and mentions the most important influences and current directions. The thesis illustrates how a Christian, active in politics or economy, can apply the catholic social teaching it practice and shows the difficulties and recourses, which needs to be considered. The hierarchy of conditions and processes shown on the example of the employment policy can be then utilised in any other area of the social policy.

Michael Novak and his Project of Theology of Democratic Capitalism

This dissertation deals with the American Catholic theologian and social thinker Michael Novak, as well as his work, which is a principal and influential contribution to Catholic social teaching. Novak is the main representative of American Catholic Neoconservatism, a stream in Catholic thought, which springs from the specific context of the experience of the American political, economical and cultural arrangement and which started to develop in the USA in connection with the American conservative revolution. Catholic Neoconservatism aims to connect Christian and liberal traditions, and it also tries to rehabilitate the system of Democratic Capitalism newly based on Christian values. Its goal is to influence all areas of Catholic social thought, which, according to Novak, needs to be developed and enriched by non-Europeans, especially from the American experience. He claims that Catholic social thought is inspired too much by Socialism and the one-hundredyear-old tradition of Papal Encyclicas has been significantly marked by a limited Eurocontinental horizon. This dissertation aims to contribute, at least partly, to the Catholic historical revision of values of classical liberalism in light of this American experience. Also Novak´s usage of theological doctrines on behalf of the democratic capitalism is interesting and not forgetable experiment in the area of the theology of terrestrial realities, despite some of its exceptions. Novak is not a great theologian, but he is especially a political scientist and economist. Therefore his theology of Democratic Capitalism should be further developed and enriched by other theologians.

Ekonomická analýza pandemie AIDS v Subsaharské Africe

HIV/AIDS is a real threat for Sub-Saharan Countries. It increased adult mortality substantially. HIV/AIDS pandemic causes the death of the most productive part of affected population. Human capital passing on to future generations is limited. Low economic performance and income inequality induce higher HIV vulnerability. Contra wise HIV/AIDS has significant negative effect on the welfare of affected population. The sources of pandemic in Sub-Saharan Africa are not only social and cultural. Health and nutrition situation play considerable role. Holistic approach based on education, fidelity, abstinence and improvement of economic situation and moderate condom use (as the last way of prevention) seems to be an effective way of pandemic elimination.
