Holinská, Eliška ; Hrdina, Radomír (advisor) ; Tilšer, Ivan (referee)
Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology Student: Eliška Holinská Supervisor: Prof. MUDr. Radomír Hrdina, CSc. Title of diploma thesis: Pharmacoteraphy of headache in adults Headache is one of the most common health problem that encounters almost everyone during the life. Depending on the cause, headaches can be divided on the primary headaches, which are the subject of the diploma thesis, and secondary headaches, which are caused by other diseases. The primary headaches are migraine, tension-type headache, cluster headache and primary chronic daily headache. Headache is not a life-threating condition but it can significantly reduce the quality of life, particularly the chronic forms of headache. The determination of the right diagnosis is essential for the choice of appropriate therapy. For primary headache are typical negative test results, there are no structural lesions or signs of organic brain damage. Diagnostics is comlicated and it is primarily based on a carefully processed medical history. In the therapy of primary headache are used both pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods, optimaly in combination. Pharmacological treatment consists of preventive and acute therapy. The preventive treatment is given to reduce the...
Extraocular Muscles - Clinical Significance and Possibilities of Treatment of the Extraocular Muscles
Vacková, Petra ; Bitnar, Petr (advisor) ; Keilová, Marie (referee)
A human has available for eye movements six extraocular muscles of which function is to ensure the right position of eyes to meet conditions for binocular seeing. This bachelor thesis is carried out in the form of research with a focus on extraocular muscles, their clinical meaning for physiotherapeutic practices and possibilities to influence them in non-pharmaceutical ways. The general part describes anatomy of extraocular muscles and relevant structures including the main differences by which they differ from the other striated muscles. The chapter about the eye kinematics divides the eye movements according to functional and kinesiological criteria. Also you can find here the laws by which the movements are controlled. The special part presents displays of various pathologies involving extraocular muscles and their clinical consequences. Here you can find some information about common vision problems andt their relations with extraocuar muscles. The extra chapter is the problem of the relationship between extraocular muscles and cephalea. Moreover, these part presents the possibilities of non-pharmaceutical treatment of the extraocular muscles dysfunctions by using muscle trigger points release techniques, yoga techniques or Bates methode. You can find the case interpretations of two patients...

Nursing care of children with headache
ŽELINSKÁ, Kateřina
Introduction into the topic: This bachelor thesis is focused on nursing care of children with headaches. The nursing care itself is usually done at children GP surgeries and paediatric neurological ambulances. Theoretical part: The theoretical part of the thesis is divided into two larger chapters headaches among children and headaches among adults. In the first chapter, headaches among children, the original mechanism which commences the headache, types of headaches, evaluation and the treatment of headaches is described. In this chapter, there is also presented the distribution of headaches, the diagnosis, treatment and the nursing care. Objectives: In respect with the research, there were stated four objectives. The first was to map the nursing care at children GP surgeries and paediatric neurological surgeries, the second one describes the cause of headaches among children, the third objective describes the frequency of headaches among children and the fourth objective describes the intensity of headaches among children. Methodology: The empirical part was worked out through qualitative and quantitative research investigation. In the qualitative part the method of in-depth interview was used. The research group consisted of six nurses, three of them were working at GP surgeries, three of them at paediatric neurological surgeries. When processing the interview, the methods of open coding and paper- pencil were used. In the quantitative part the non-standardized questionnaire method was used. The research group of the quantitative research consisted of 108 respondents aged from 6 to Hypothesis, research question and results: Due to the quantitative research, there were stated three hypothesis: H1: The frequency of headaches depends on the sex. H2: The intensity of headaches depends on the sex. H3: The most common cause of headaches among children is an excessive psychological stress. Accordingly to the statistical research H1 we can confirm that the frequency depends on the sex. The chi-square was used to confirm the hypothesis. The hypothesis H2, the relation of the intensity and the sex, was not confirmed by the test. The hypothesis H3, which says that the most common cause of headaches among children is an excessive psychological stress was also not confirmed, the chi-square was used. In respect to the qualitative research, there were three research questions stated. RQ1: What is the nursing care of children with headaches at the children GP surgeries? RQ2: What is the nursing care of children with headaches at the paediatric neurological surgeries? RQ3: What are the causes of headache? The results of the research showed different causes of headaches which we put into the psychological group, the inner influence group, the outer influence group and injuries. The research also showed that the specifics of treatment between the children GP surgeries and paediatric neurological ambulances do not differ much. Into the group of specifics of nursing care of children with headaches we placed: education, informing children and parents about the non-pharmacological methods of treatment or the methods itself, administration of medicaments by different GPs, evaluation of the headaches, kind and friendly attitude to diseased people. The use in praxis: This bachelor thesis may be used for the study of medical programs, or it can serve as a material used for education of already educated medical staff or patients with headaches themselves. It can be also used as a base for a research paper into a magazine focused on paediatrics or neurology. The conclusion: There are many children with headaches as we found out through the research. We cannot certainly eliminate this huge number of patients, but with the help of the result we have learned, we can make their lives, which are very frequently controlled by the pain which decreases the life quality itself, better.
Nurse´s headache influence on their work ability
BROŽOVSKÁ, Iveta
We have selected this topic of the bachelor's thesis because the number of people suffering from headaches has been increasing in the population. Headaches affect quality of life of patients to a considerable degree. This research has revealed that more than a half of nurses suffer from headaches, which is alarming. The nursing profession is very demanding in physical and psychical terms so we were interested how headaches affect labour performance of nurses, whether their impact is negative or whether headaches have no effect on the performance of nurses. The first objective of the thesis was to ascertain what risk factors evoke headaches of nurses. The second objective was to ascertain whether headaches of nurses affect their labour performance. Both objectives have been fulfilled. We have used a quantitative research and distributed the total number of 150 questionnaires. 110 duly completed questionnaires were used for the data analysis. The research set was selected at random and consisted of nurses working in out-patient wards and in multi-shift operation, namely in hospitals and health centres Oblastní nemocnice Příbram, a.s., Středisko zdraví spol. s r.o. in Dobříš and Fakultní nemocnice Motol (Motol University Hospital). Hypothesis H1 stating that occurrence of headaches with nurses is influenced by the multi-shift character of the operation has not been confirmed while hypothesis H2 stating that occurrence of headaches with nurses is influenced by stress at work has been confirmed. Hypothesis H3 stating that headaches have a negative impact on labour performance of nurses has also been confirmed. This thesis will refer to the fact that the number of people suffering from headaches has been growing. It will also focus on the characteristics of the nursing profession and emphasize the main strains laid on nurses in this occupation. It will draw attention to faults in nursing practice that occur due to headaches of nurses. The resulting findings are alarming since mistakes made by nurses in their nursing performance or incorrect records in health documentations of patients may result in a serious risk to the health of patients.
