Space of cyclic change
Krettková, Karin ; Kopec,, Jakub (referee) ; Rozwalka, Szymon (advisor)
The brief of the thesis was to find and design a building that responds to the cyclical nature of the Baltic resort town of Svinousie. After analyses dealing with the natural, sociological and historical characteristics of the town, the building program was selected as a children‘s spa sanatorium. To position the parcel at the epicenter of resort commerce, it was necessary to resolve the programmatic conflicts and continuities between the sanatorium, the commercial promenade and the health promenade that line the parcel. Last but not least, the project addresses the conflict between the requirements of the sanatorium and the hotel, in terms of views and room illumination, which is resolved by its curved geometry. For the requirements of the users of the building - people with limited ability and orientation - the building is designed as barrier-free, instead of conventional accesses, where ramps and other means of ensuring comfortable use for all users of the building are relegated to the position of a design ornament, the concept of the building here is precisely barrier-free, and especially one dedicated to movement. The building is thus designed entirely as a continuous ramp
