Evaluation of a Water Reservoir Bed Morphology Using Bathymetric Data
Jílek, David ; Menšík, Pavel (referee) ; Marton, Daniel (advisor)
Sedimentation of reservoirs is one of the current problems in the field of water resource management. The actual conditions of the bed morphology can be scan by modern bathymetric sensors or measuring and then transferred to digital terrain models. This bachelor thesis evaluates the process of the sedimentation of the upper reservoir of Nové Mlýny reservoir since its first filling in 1978 to the newest measuring in 2018 using an assessment of a water volume changes in the reservoir. The thesis also describes a detailed manual of reservoir volumes evaluation in the programs ArcGIS and Atlas DMT, and verification of the method accuracy. These programs were used for creating the digital terrain models and calculating area-volume curves that were utilized for evaluation of a volume change and then for the amount of the reservoir sedimentation. The total volume of the reservoir loss during the forty years is estimated as 500 thousand m3 which equals 28 % of the total reservoir volume, at least the 300 thousand m3 of sedimentation was realised in the last ten years. The outcomes are part results of the project ATCZ28 SEDECO – Sediments, ecosystem services and interrelation with the floods and droughts in the AT-CZ border region.
Hydrological regime of selected lakes in the High Tatra Mts.
Sankotová, Tereza ; Šobr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Janský, Bohumír (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with morphometric analysis and hydrological regime of Skalnaté pleso lake and Hincové Oká lakes, especially the lake level fluctuation, during the period 2011 - 2014. One of the tasks was the bathymetric mapping of observed locations. For Hincové Oká lakes was it the first mapping of bathymetry at all. The hydrological regime and lake level fluctuation regime of observed locations shows interesting differences from the other Tatra lakes whose hydrological regime is controlled by precipitation amounts. The annual culmination of Hincové Oká lakes (the largest lake) is shifted into the spring caused by melting snowpack. When there is no rainfall for a couple of days Skalnaté pleso lake often dries up, even during summer months, when levels of most Tatra lakes reach their maximum values. However summer drying is shortterm. Lake level fluctuation regime is very dynamic. After a strong rainfall event its level rises very steeply, up to 0,14 m per hour. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Siltation of the Újezd water reservoir
Kebertová, Daniela ; Šobr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Chalupová, Dagmar (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the siltation of water bodies. In April 2020 the first accurate and detailed bathymetric survey of the Újezd water reservoir was conducted using an ADCP RiverSurveyor M9. The aim of the measurement was to determine volume of the reservoir after 39 years since its construction. The obtained data was processed in ArcMap 10.7.1 using the kriging method of interpolation. Based on it a new bathymetric map of current state of the reservoir was created. For the sake of understanding the causes of siltation, a complex physical-geographic characteristics of the upper stream basin of Bílina river, on which the Újezd water reservoir is situated, had been done. The river basin is fundamentally anthropogenically influenced by water supply system and mining activities. The volume of the reservoir at a water surface area of 117.20 ha was shown to be 4718364 m3 , 1.63% larger, compared to the values 4642640 m3 and 120.75 ha presented in the management manual for the waterwork. The volumes are comparable which indicates that there is no significant amount of siltation and the reservoir became a naturally functional and sustainable ecosystem.
Siltation of the Kadaň water reservoir
Kuchynková, Jindřiška ; Šobr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Chalupová, Dagmar (referee)
The Kadaň water reservoir was built on the river Ohře in 1971. It is considered as a deepend river bed rather then the water reservoir . As with others water reservoirs, there continues to be happening an intense siltation with various types of sediments. This bachelor thesis aims to identify a current state and the change that has passed over the last 18 years and based on those obtained informations create a bathymetric map. The thesis is based on data from 1984, 2000 and my own field mapping in 2018. For measuring water depths I used a system RiverSurveyor. The data were processed in programs Microsoft Office Excel and ArcMap. For creating a bathymetric map I used a Kriging interpolation method. The results showed that compared to year 2000, the siltation has increased by 5%. Currently, the reservoir is silted by 47%. It is located in an area of 545 941 m2 and its volume amounts to 1 385 862 m3 . In 1972, when the reservoir was filled, it had a volume of 2 620 000 m3 . According to the results of measuerement we can conclude that over the last 46 years there has been created 1 234 138 m3 of sediments in the reservoir.

Possibilities of use of new bathymetry method of water reservoirs
Kundratová, Františka ; Roub, Radek (advisor) ; Hradilek, Václav (referee)
It is essential to measure water depths of rivers, water reservoirs, ponds and lakes from various reasons like hydrologic modeling, monitoring of biotopes, monitoring of sediments or archeologic researches. Hence, the bathymetry techniques for measurements of shallow waters are still evolving. The goal is to find the best method allowing fast and economic mapping of large-scale areas and providing high-resolution data. Currently, the most common method in Czech Republic is probably depth measurement by an ADCP devices, which is a very accurate method, but still time-consuming. On the other hand, airborne laser scanning with wavelength of 532 nm (green laser pulse) has a great potential for shallow water mapping. This work is focused on the possibilities of use of the airborne laser scanning for bathymetry of rivers and water reservoirs in conditions typical for Czech Republic. The methods of obtaining the bathymetric data are discussed in theoretical part, as well as principles of its operation. In the practical part, two study areas (a part of Vltava river and a Hracholusky dam) were scanned using the laser scanner Riegl VQ-880- G. Digital terrain model (DEM) was created from acquired data of the two study areas. After that the DEMs were compared with DEMs which were created from sonar data. The results of comparison are presented. The aim of this work is to assess the ability of airborne laser bathymetry in conditions typical for Czech Republic and verify the accuracy of this method. This method saves time and economic costs and it has great potential to be usable for future research.
