Integration and education of children with disabilities in primary schools in the chomutov region
KOLÍNKOVÁ, Michaela
The topic of the Bachelor Thesis relates to the integration and education of children with a bodily handicap in basic schools in the Chomutov Region. In the theoretical part of my thesis I deal with the terminology of the integration and definition of the term of bodily handicap, and I describe the development of the school integration in the Czech Republic, while I focus particularly to the support of the integration in terms of the legislative and economic funding. I aim at the role of special-pedagogical centres and pedagogical-psychological consultancy offices in the process of integration. The main goal of my thesis was to identify how the conditions of integration are fulfilled from the point of view of the Headmasters of schools, teachers, assistants, pedagogues, and, but not limited to, the parents themselves. For the satisfaction of the main goal, I set up three partial goals. At first, to identify the financial conditions of the integration, at second, to find out the extent of the awareness of the pedagogues, and at first, what the activity of special- pedagogical centres is, and/or of the pedagogical-psychological consultancy offices in this area of their professional work. For my research, I used a questionnaire survey at which I attempted to find out the opinions, attitudes and experience of the pedagogues as well of the parents of the integrated pupils. For the survey at the consultancy school facilities I employed the methods of a semi-controlled interview. Through my survey performed, I managed to find out that the addressed respondents showed, in the majority of the cases, a positive approach to integration. The Headmasters of schools see, as the core one, the problem of insufficient financial funds for the integration. The teachers particularly encounter partial problems directly at the time of teaching. The approach of all assistants of pedagogues to integration is positive, however their workload is not clearly defined. From the parents' point view, the conditions for the integration are good, and they see in it an unambiguous benefit for their children. Integration in the Czech Republic is legislatively supported, but in the normal life of schools it however has been facing both the financial and practical difficulties. Because in the Chomutov District, there is only a special-pedagogical centre aimed at defects of hearing, I believe that a facility focused on all types of handicap would be vastly beneficial.
Importance and possibilities of a teacher assistant in school integration of children with disabilities.
ŠVEHLOVÁ, Petra
For my thesis I have chosen the theme of the importance and possibilities of a teacher assistant in school integration of children with disabilities. The research was conducted in the district of Český Krumlov. There are currently 20 basic schools and 26 kindergartens of which eight basic schools and two kindergartens have integrated pupils with disabilities. My two hypotheses are based on the fact that teacher assistants are the ones who, in my opinion, form an indispensable part of a pedagogic team, ensuring successful and beneficial integration of disabled children into the regular type of schools and school facilities and affecting the process of integration (hypothesis 1). Moreover, I believe that the competencies of two different professional groups, being teacher assistants and personal assistants, are often confused and neither professionals nor the lay public are able to clearly distinguish between their functions (hypothesis 2). In order to obtain information in respect of the set out issues, the method of interviews in the form of questionnaires was used. The questionnaire was designed for directors and teachers of basic schools and kindergartens integrating pupils with disabilities and also for parents of disabled children integrated in a regular school. The processed data are displayed in graphs and tables. Both the raised hypotheses have been confirmed. It was revealed that the respondents consider a teacher assistant as an indispensable element without which the school integration would not be successful. Some of them refer to their previous experience when no teacher assistant was available. The hypothesis which assumed confusion of competencies of an assistant teacher and a personal assistant was also clearly confirmed. The research revealed that some respondents suggested an interesting idea to unify these two assistants' functions into one that would fall under one resort. By this diploma thesis I would like to contribute to the explanation of ambiguities in the competences of a teacher assistant and a personal assistant and to promote the importance of a teacher assistant in school integration of children with disabilities.
The role of an assistant by the integration of disadvantaged learners
KRÁTKÁ, Pavla
The thesis deals with the integration of learners with special educational needs into non-special basic schools and classes with the usage of supportive assistance service. The theoretical part is focused on the statement of specialized terminology, the explanation of terms and forms of pedagogical integration. The dissertation is defined in detail to laws and regulations which address this issue. The composition summarizes the differences between a pedagogue assistant and a personal assistant, their competency, provisions, job description, qualification and legislation connected. In the practical part there is a research. The aim of this thesis was to find out if pedagogical assistants are really prepared and qualified to their work.
Integration of disabled children for special-interest education at schools
SUCHÁ, Kateřina
``Integration of Handicapped Children at Educational Institutions for Special Interest Training{\crqq} is the title of my thesis and it deals with the importance of participation of handicapped children in leisure activities, the current status and possibilities of incorporating of handicapped children into leisure activities. I wanted to find out the factors which influence the integration of handicapped children at educational institutions for the training of special interests, detect obstacles which hinder from integration of handicapped children at educational institutions for the training of special interests, and last but not least, to evaluate the interest of handicapped children, as well as their legitimate representatives, in their integration at educational institutions for the training of special interests.
Possibilites of integration of handicapped children in nursery schools in České Budějovice.
TOBOLKOVÁ, Andrea
The Bachelor paper examines the available ways of integrating physically disabled children into the process of education in kindergartens based in České Budějovice. After 1989 the Czech system of education has been transformed and the transformation allowed new approach to education. The effort aimed to establish a system offering people equal chances of education and providing them with an adequate level of education. The paper endeavors to find out (1) whether disabled children could be integrated into the educational process as it takes place in České Budějovice kindergartens; (2) which kindergartens are ready to accept disabled children; and, not least importantly, (3) what are the practical possibilities of integrating the children to the process of education given in the kindergartens. To suit the above-specified purpose, this hypothesis was formulated: "Most of České Budějovice kindergartens are prepared to integrate disabled children into their processes of education". The hypothesis has been proven true. As follows from the results obtained, 6 (55%) out of 11 (100%), i.e. the majority of the surveyed kindergartens, were ready to enroll disabled children. Theoretical section of the paper strives to explain the concept of integration; of the personal assistant; the individual plan of instruction; and that of physical disability. The physical disability itself was split into several parts defined in a concise and clearcut manner. Practical section of the paper relied on a quantitative survey and the method of interrogation applied through a questionnaire. Prepared were two types of questionnaires: the first was intended for the kindergarten Headmistresses and the second was to be administered to the kindergarten teachers. Contacted were 13 facilities altogether, out of which 11 chose to participate. The two abstaining gave reasons - they were pressed for time; had too many questionnaires coming in; or were not interested in the survey. The data acquired were tabled and plotted on charts. Results returned in the questionnaires show that 6 out of 11 kindergartens operating in České Budějovice enroll disabled children. In addition, 5 kindergartens were found to provide the individual approach and 1 kindergarten organized the group integration. Seven kindergartens of the 11 reported no disabled children currently among their clients saying that no one asked to have a disabled child enrolled for this school year. At the same time almost all the Headmistresses agreed that such a child benefits the school and the other children. The findings can help to better understand the issue of integrating disabled children into the process of education at the České Budějovice kindergartens, and to provide a feedback to those kindergartens that are already prepared to offer such integration.
Integration of the disabled kindergarten children
BOČANOVÁ, Petra
This thesis aims at problems that we face when integrating the disabled pre-school children among healthy (intact) children. To add to theoretical information that I found in printed and electronic resources, there is a complex scientific survey that involved especially pedagogical opinions - kindergarten teachers - and those opinions and attitude of the parents whose children now attend kindergartens. when evaluating the result of the theses, I believe that the aim was fairly, yet surfficiently met. Fairly - bacause there are lot of various problems that did not get the attention required. Surprisingly, the results show, both teachers and parents practically agreed on positive approach if we consider integrating children with special needs of education in the kindergarten environment.
The issue of assistance care of autistic children in special kindergarten and primary school in Rakovník
BABORÁKOVÁ, Kateřina
Infantile autism is one of autism spectrum disorders (ASD). It belongs to pervasive developmental disorders. It is characterized by a triad of handicaps - deficiencies in an area of social relations, communication and imagination. In the education of autistic children is necessary the communication is with a visual support and lessons are structured. A goal of my thesis was to ascertain, how much of an assistant help is necessary for the work with autistic children and whether such a need is met in the practice at one particular school. The other goal was to find out how difficult is the profession of a teacher´s assistant and which problems are related to it. The research sample consisted of women-assistants of the teacher in Elementary School and Special Kindergarten in Rakovník. I chose a method of the semi-controlled interview with women-assistants of the teacher and a study of the school documentation and autistic school children. Findings of the research showed that an extent and severity of the disability at all students with autism justify an allocation of a teacher´s assistant and an increase of financial means. Though, the current number of teacher´s assistants is insufficient due to the lack of funds provided by the founder and it does not match needs of the school. The women-assistants of the teacher evaluate their work as very demanding and poorly rated. They feel a risk of the burn-out syndrome. Most of them perform also works, which would rather do a personal assistant. However the School Section has no funds to provide any personal assistants. I believe that a solution of the situation could be a possibility for personal assistants to be employed at the school, too and the founder would contribute more significantly to the financial security of the required assistant care. The school work would also be facilitated, when parents pay for the assistant help from the recognized contribution to care. But currently it only depends on the parents how they will use this contribution.
Individual and group integration of mentally handicapped pupils within the framework of compulsory school attendance
ŠVEJDOVÁ, Kateřina
Problems dealing with individual and group integration of mentally handicapped pupils in terms of fulfilment the compulsory school attendance are very often discussed. In the diploma work I have concentrated on a research of fulfilment the basic conditions of integration and problems that parents and educationalists solve during integration of mentally handicapped pupils into elementary schools. Workers from specially-pedagogical centres for mentally handicapped people, educationalists providing education for integrated pupils and these integrated pupils'parents form together the experimental complex. Following methods and techniques of collecting data were used to reach the aim - the methods of standardized interviews, the methods of inquiry-form researchs and as a complementary method two matter studies. My diploma work could by inspiration for mentally handicapped pupils'parents, common educationalists, special educationalists and authorities of state administration.
